Bmwolf21 Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 Yeah, you guessed it:http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=251550&lid...s=headlines_nhl Was only a matter of time before the C was stitched on #23's jersey. Big difference from their previous captain, and a heck of an upgrade.
R_Dudley Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 Reading that article again confirms he is where he always wanted to be, he even talks about modeling the shared captain thing with Nasland and Gomez like he did with Danny that he thought worked well. No hard feelings from me, I wish him luck just not ever against us... Will be interesting to see how his leadership effects the rest of the NYR team, I expect it to work great for a year or two but with human nature and some of the personalities and different ego's of players these days just wonder how long that Mr Perfect story works before some players tire of the the 'holier than thou' syndrome.... Probably right around the 12th time the media brings up the Pitching the win in the blah, blah, blah.... just saying
rickshaw Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 who cares about Chris Drury? ancient history. love the team, not the player.
inkman Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 who cares about Chris Drury? I wish there were more fans like you.
rickshaw Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 I wish there were more fans like you. Aw shucks.
carpandean Posted October 5, 2008 Author Report Posted October 5, 2008 who cares about Chris Drury? ancient history. love the team, not the player. I'm more than willing to move on as a team, but that doesn't mean that I don't still appreciate him as a player. He was one of my favorites and always will be. When Derek Roy finally leaves the team, I will feel the same way. I love the Sabres, but I still appreciate individual players. I'm sure others feel the same and wanted to point out that Chris is now captain of the Rangers. I purposely didn't say anything like "he should still be our captain".
Stoner Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 I wish there were more fans like you. I'm one! Chris Drury was probably the least likable "star" player the Sabres ever had. Even less likable than Dom. At least Dom wasn't overrated.

Stoner Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 Do you like spooning? (not Oz style) I'm more into sporking.

At least Dom wasn't overrated. For 3 mil a year or whatever they were paying him, I was fine with him, but for 7 mil a year or even the infamous 5 for 25, I would not have been happy. I know...intangibles. :bag:
inkman Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 I'm more into sporking. Spooning and porking? A multi-tasker indeed. Please don't ask me if I have heard of a spork.

Stoner Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 First time I've ever heard Chris Drury referred to as the "least likable 'star'" It's a day of firsts. Never had a dude ask me if I liked to spoon. X, did you like Drury, or like like him?
stenbaro Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 I would trade our front office to have him back..Thats all I am gonna say ..I am leaving this topic forever...
inkman Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 I would trade our front office to have him back..Thats all I am gonna say ..I am leaving this topic forever... Nothing I have heard about Drury has ever sounded charismatic. Yeah, yeah, he wants to win...blah, blah, blah but is he that a#$^$#!e nobody likes being around because he makes everyone uncomfortable because he's constantly trying to "win". I'm guessing there are several other players on the Sabres who enjoy winning just as much as Chris and work just as hard at it too. They just don't go brooding around with a sour puss ruining everyone's day to get there.

That sucks..Being around a guy who want to do nothing but win... :wallbash: Maybe thats why the freefall we had last year..Maybe they needed a player like that..
X. Benedict Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 It's a day of firsts. Never had a dude ask me if I liked to spoon. X, did you like Drury, or like like him? I liked Drury. I think his appeal from a fan perspective wasn't that he was a slick or glib interview, because he wasn't, but that he allowed his play on the ice to speak for him. His popularity while he was here were inseparable from his work ethic. I especially liked his work on top on the PK. Would I take him over Pierre Turgeon......yes, by a slight nod. Would I take him over Mike Foligno..........no way. Now he's a Ranger, I wish him nothing but a case of piles.
tom webster Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 Now I understand, Drury and Briere were over rated and Teppo is too old and it was just bad luck the Sabres weren't as good last year or maybe they were just too worn out from all that hockey they had to play going to those darn conference finals......... If only Chris, Danny and Teppo wouldn't have made them keep playing they would have neen more rested last year.

Well to start the season the only upgrade they made all offseason was to add Rivet..We will have to see if that adds up to replacing the 3 mentioned above..
inkman Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 Maybe they needed a player like that.. Perhaps but they didn't win a cup with him and maybe some of the younger guys grew last year and learned a few lessons. I just get annoyed with the man crush certain posters, you included had on Drury. He was a good player. He led by example. He's now a NY Ranger. Move on.
