R_Dudley Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 I know I am going to take some heat for this but I still expect to see a trade this week and while it may just be moving a veteran off the roster to make way for one of the kids who have impressed, I think it may be a surprising package deal that may make DeLuca amongst others quite happy. Any thoughts???? I like the idea and I do know one area we are still struggling especially with Goose out; FO % won, it was horrible last night and not that great all pre-season. So whether it's another centerman or FO specialist or ideally one player good at both I definitely see the need just not sure if it will happen in next week but I do see it happening..

Looks like she already had 5 kids.

Stoner Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 I had heard you prefer the woods at Ellicott Creek Park......Oh maybe that was PABillsFan. You just want to be friends so I send you some of those tickets I gave Carp? Don't worry, I'll have another contest and I'll try to gear it to a crotchety old historian like yourself. :death:   That's that. We are buddies. I will warn you though that after my painful breakup with BM, I am definitely on the rebound. I might come on a little strong or try to fast-track our relationship. And if BM ever wants me back...
darksabre Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 Touch?. I officially change my argument to "there's no 'U' between the 'C' and the 'L'". In a quick search on the web, it seems that I am not the only one that noticed this. eh I'm just pickin nit anyways. I'm secretly jealous of PA's new relationship with T web and lookin for love in all the wrong places. :bag:

deluca67 Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 I don't know if this counts as confirmation. I heard Paul Hamilton imply that Talinder maybe out of the top 6. He was paired with Paetsch. The pairings. Lydman - Rivet Spacek - Sekera Teppo - Weber

Must be that soft arm of his...Good to know Lydman can be rehabilitated.
spndnchz Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 So you can take some heat from me? Which restroom is that again? I always end up in the wrong one! OK, we have now beaten each other up several times. Would you like to be friends? This olive branch will be offered one time only. Certain restrictions apply. Not applicable on game days or within 21 days of trade deadline. Objects in mirror are closer than they appear. okay Senator PAsabrefan. :nana:

His inability to get the puck out of the zone when he has it along the boards is maddening. I know some people dislike Lydman, but I'd take him any day of the week over Hank! If the Sabres traded Spacek or Tallinder tomorrow in order to make room for Weber, it wouldn't bother me one bit.

If the Sabres traded Spacek or Tallinder tomorrow in order to make room for Weber, it wouldn't bother me one bit. Interesting. Spacek's game was definitely sharper than Tallinder's last season, but I'd expect the Sabres to prefer to trade Spacek, since he's a UFA after this year. OTOH, maybe whoever they're talking to prefers Tallinder for that same reason (or for some other reason). Or maybe Darcy and Lindy have decided that Tallinder has fallen off the table for good and they'd prefer to get Weber in there, (and unload Tallinder's $3MM per year salary in the bargain). However, Paul Hamilton seems like a good enough guy, but he doesn't seem terribly knowledgeable. So probably best not to read much into this.

We know what Rivet and Weber got and we have seen Spacek throw the body around a bit as well. Maybe Lydman just needs someone like Rivet that he knows has got his back rather then the Tallywacker. The excitement builds, only 6 days, 10 hours and 32 minutes till showtime...

Hank Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 I hope you heard something legit and the Sabres plan to give Weber his permanent roster spot that he has earned. That would make me happy. I really like Weber's game and I will probably have his name and number tossed on my jersey. I don't think he will be a perennial all-star type blueliner. He will wear a 'C' on his jersey at some point in his career. It'd make me happy too! I don't post much on here, but a good percentage of the posts I do make are about locking Weber and Sekera up long term while they sre still cheap. Can't happen soon enough...

Sekera can work out a contract at any point, but Weber still has a year to go before they can do anything with him.

LabattBlue Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 My prediction that Max won't be here on opening night is starting to look like wishful thinking on my part. I would guess if DR is going to pull off a trade, it's probably going to happen today or tomorrow so that any players coming back in a trade would have a chance to get in a practice or two before the opener. :(

I would guess if DR is going to pull off a trade, it's probably going to happen today or tomorrow so that any players coming back in a trade would have a chance to get in a practice or two before the opener. :( I understand your concerns, but it's not the Max situation that bothers me. It's the fact that DR was unable or unwilling to bring in a veteran center who can win the faceoffs and replace Connolly, if he were to go down. It would've been nice to have a good 3rd line center. Teams, mainly divisional, are going to go after Connolly... Also, w/ the addition of Tanguay, Montreal is going to be TOUGH. Buffalo had better get the first goal on Friday night. The Sabres also need to stay out of the penalty box. The Habs made the Sabres look so stupid last year when they were on the pp. I'm procastinating right now. How many of you were WORRIED when Roy was slow to get off the ice, after taking a bull shiit from the Redwings? (I know this is a stupid question) This happened after Edwards went down. My day, until I saw Roy back in the game, was in the dumpster.
