bob_sauve28 Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 I'll make a few but not on who wins the cup. I'll let someone else do that. 1 Sabres will overtake the Senators but will not catch the Carolina club by the end of the year. 2 Afinigenov finishes as Sabres top point scorer 3 The Sabres don't trade Biron this year 4 The Sabres do trade a forward and pick up a defenseman--a reasonably good one 5 Pittsburgh won't make the playoffs. Wait, that's not a prediction, its a fact. Rob Ry will punch out Mike Robitie before the end of the year
ThePolishSabre Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 1- Yes... but they will also over take Carolina 2- Yes, unless he is the one that goes with #4 3- They sure won't. Our roster is too damn full as is, we can't trade a goalie for a player. Plus, this is an amazing season, we'll keep two "number 1" goalies 4- Yes, one of our forwards will get sent somewhere else, while we will the cup, it sucks for whoever it is that will get traded 5- Could happen, but what everyone doesn't know is that Mike is a
Two or less Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 1. Yes, we will win the northeast divison. But we won't over come Carolina, they play Atlanta, Washington and Florida way too much. 2. Nope. Vanek will raise up and lead the team. 3. Biron rumours are too crazy in northwest, canada to make you think he's staying. I think Darcy will find a rent-a-player for the defense, and deal Biron for a great prospect. 4. Nope. Why ruin team chemesty? All these guys are like best friends. 5. hahaha only if Miller starts to stuggle and Ruff plays Marty for a few games and he costs us 2-3 games, Robitaille will diss Marty and Ray will eff Robby up. lol
deluca67 Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 Ray couldn't take Robbi on Ray's best day and Robi's worst. ;)

Guest Steve the hockey guy Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 Are you joking? You think because Ottawa lost Hasek that's it for them? Don't count on it. They can outscore Buffalo, they play better defense and they are tougher. Buffalo has peaked, they can only go down from here. Affenogenover, no I be he gets injured. Look for Connolly to take the scoring. Take that to the bank. Biron will stay in Buffalo. Darcy has never made a competent move at the deadline, why would he change now?
Rabbit151 Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 Ottawa could be in trouble without Hasek. Emery looks like he may be one of those self-destructive types. He had his goalie mask painted in an ode-to-Mike Tyson! Apparently that was his child-hood hero and he didn't think that anyone would mind, conveniently disregarding the fact that Tyson is known more as a former rapist than a former champ. Senators management asked him to remove it, although they say it was all his decision. I saw the interview with Emery after that and you could tell he wasn't happy about removing it. I guess the key is, who wil Muckler trade for in goal? I can't see him keeping this Emery kid as his insurance for Hasek.
deluca67 Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 Ottawa has all the pressure on them. No one expected the Sabres to be good. And having the Sabres so close to the Sens you'll see another Sens infamous choke job. I first thought it would be the Canes falling from grace the final third. I think more now that it might be the Sens. The Sens are the best team in hockey when the pressure is off. As things get tight down the stretch so will the grips on their sticks. And that's even with a healthy Hasek. Emery is not a #1 goalie in the NHL. With such a condensed schedule? There is no way Hasek can get healthy. The type of injury he has can only heal with rest. Some may say the schedule is a problem for the Sabres. I'm not so sure. They will have to fight every night to get a good spot in the playoffs. That's how a team want's to go into a playoffs. The playoffs start for the Sabres Wednesday.
Rabbit151 Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 Everyone has a tough schedule down the stretch with so many games within the division and conference. The Sabres are in a good spot because of their performance over the 1st half and a bit. The teams below Buffalo will be battling each other so while one team gains a couple of points one night, the other team loses a couple. Then, the next night, the exact reverse may happen so they wind up spinning their wheels and gaining no ground. Buffalo has been playing desperate hockey with a chip on their shoulder since day one. I think they have a real chance of winning a series or two. Once you win a couple of series' all bets are off, anyone can win then. Momentum and injuries can even out the talent gap by the time you reach the semi-finals.

That's true, but with the D-corp the Sabres currently have, unless they add another body or 2, the Sabres are likely on the wrong end of the evening out of the talent gap. The Sabres need another solid defenseman in order to make a real run at the SC. That being stated, I'd rather have the Sabres not make a move than have them mortgage their future for the said required D-man. Marty, A forward, and a prospect / draft pick are the most I am willing to give up for the necessary D-man (unless it is a very special situation). If it costs any more than that, use this season as a stepping stone toward next season.
hopeleslyobvious Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 Buffalo has peaked, they can only go down from here. Funny, I remember people saying that back in December as well. They are getting two of their best players back (Briere and Connolly). They've been strong without them, and this will only make them better.
BuffalOhio Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 Darcy has never made a competent move at the deadline, why would he change now? Dude, you're forgetting about the Gratton for Briere trade. Seems pretty competent to me.
