SwampD Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 I work on a show and see that Gary Bettman is one of the guests today. My first thought was to go up to him and slap him and say,"Look Gare(yeah, I call him Gare)we both know that there was no memo in '99 and that you screwed us. Can you just admit that? Can you just say that you didn't enforce a rule that was good for some 1300 games up to that point in the season, and that you screwed us, well can you?"...{deep breath} Then I got to thinking, what is the one thing I would ask, or say, if I ran into him in the hallway. I couldn't really think of anything. I like the rule changes the last couple of years. The game is good. My only real complaint is that they don't call interference enough in the playoffs and it handcuffs more offensive minded teams. Just wondered what some others would ask or say.
Kristian Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 Why don't they call the game according to the rules?
JohnRobertEichel Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 "Why haven't you resigned yet?"
LabattBlue Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 Is there any chance the NBA would take you back?
That Aud Smell Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 is there anything to which you're deathly allergic?
wjag Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 How about expanding the rosters by a player or two during the regular season? How about no touch icing?
That Aud Smell Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 I'm sensing a pattern here. okay, a serious one: can you explain why there's little to no interest in moving away from some of the failed experiments in non-traditional markets and back into some of the abandoned traditional markets?
carpandean Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 How about no touch icing? The new rule -- the players can only play the puck, not the body, in icing situations -- is a nice compromise. You'll have less dangerous situations and still have the race for the puck. However, we'll see if they are still enforcing it in four months or if it will slip away like most of the interference rules. How about: are 2-1 or 3-2 games more, less or just as exciting as 4-3 or 5-4 games?
Swedesessed Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 "Gary, how long before we start a Buffalo at Stockholm game thread??? Or a Buffalo at Mexico City one?'
Hawerchuk Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 "Gary, do you miss all that hip-hop thuggary of the NBA?" "Do you really have a passion for hockey, or did this job just fall into your lap?" I won't even discuss the '99 SCF.

Goodfella25 Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 "Why do you have tiny little hands and a big head that shakes when you talk?"
Two or less Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 When will you realize the NHL needs to get out of non-hockey markets?
BuffaloFan32 Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 Why haven't you expanded to Europe yet?
nfreeman Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 1. "Are you determined to have games refereed the same way in the playoffs (including the 3rd period of playoff games) as in the regular season?" 2. "Are you interested in making OT in the playoffs -- esp. double OT and later -- 4 on 4?"
rsb1094 Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 1. What is your monetary "Golden Parachute" if the league goes under like AIG, Freddy Mac, and Bears Stearns , etc...?
