Claude Balls Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 If that happens the NFL is dead to me. Me too, and they will have to change NFL to IFL. If the Bills go to Toronto, then the league will be international. Or they could go MLF. Hmmm, NHL and NBA should both be changed as well, now that I think about it. How can you have teams in two different nations and call it national? MLB and MLS got it right. Same with the CFL, all their teams are Canadian.
FogBat Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 After all these years, you just realized that? I sensed you were a little slow on the draw, but jeez. Uh-oh. Let's play the theme from Rocky, shall we??? "In the left corner, we have PASabreFan. In the right corner, we have Bmwolf21." FIGHT!!!

Bmwolf21 Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 On a happier Buffalo football note, Congrats to the UB Bulls for their come-from-behind OT win over Bowling Green, clinching the MAC East title and earning a spot in the MAC Championship game.

dante23x Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Based on the pathetic atmosphere in Toronto, the NFL has no business putting a franchise there unless it is solely for money. Today was one of the worst days of Bills football, and that doesn't include watching JP Losman pretend to be a starting QB. It was disgraceful. :bag:
Buffalo Wings Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Safe to say that JP won't be a starting QB anywhere in the NFL. That said, I'm not sure if he's so bad because of the coaching or he's just...well...bad.

At least the defense showed up today.
Claude Balls Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 And how many years did retard Ralph agree to bring a game to Toronto for? I was very disgusted by what happened, but on the other hand I was happy to see how pathetic the crowd was also. Just proving to me that the NFL does not belong in Canada no matter what happens. Canadien people don't give a #%^$#! about the NFL. If it ain't played with skates and a stick, most people could care less. Hell, Canada has lost NHL teams due to losing money, and a MLB team as well, from one of it's biggest cities. So sure, relocate an NFL team to Toronto just so they can relocate it back to the U.S. in 5-10 years. STOOOPID!!!
Bmwolf21 Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 As bad as Buffalo's coaching staff is, I think JP is just not a good player. At least the defense showed up today. I'm not going to bag on Losman. The game was close to what I feared could happen, especially if we got ourselves into a one-dimensional attack. In the first half he was 3-10 for something like 30-ish yards, but he had a good drive on the team's lone scoring drive, and had at least two drops (Hardy and EDIT: other one was Lynch. I know in the second half the uber-reliable Robert Royal was right on target with his usual drop.) In the second half we got very one dimensional, and when teams can tee off on JP he struggles, and he did today. It also didn't help that Joey Porter made Jason Peters his bitch on one play, and was absolutely licking his chops when Peters when down and Kirk Chambers came in. I also thought that we got away from the things we were successful with - intermediate passing and quick routes. The defense played pretty good for the most part. They allowed a couple long 3rd-down conversions, which has been a glaring weakness of the Jauron-era defense, and the pass rush was still nonexistent. They did handle the Dolphins' Wildcat trick plays pretty well. I am just so tired of this coaching staff and their insistence on trying to outsmart everyone, especially when they get into the red zone. Give the damn ball to Lynch inside the 5. Please. Don't call a fade route/jump ball to a 5-10" speed WR when you have the big red zone target in the game on the other side. Yes, it was a very poor throw, but who in their right mind calls that play to begin with? And on defense - please stop asking Ryan Denney and other DE's to cover RB's coming out of the backfield. Bottom line - this team was soundly outcoached again, and I only hope that this is one of (if not THE) final straws in the Jauron era.

I had just gotten done asking the wife how much money she thought Losman was losing with every passing down when he immediately went down for a sack on a play he held the ball too long. I like JP, but I think the Meathead years simply set him back too far to ever be a quality starter in this league. Of course, with the arm he has and the lack of punishment 2nd and 3rd string guys take, he may end up making as much over the course of his career as he would have had he learned how to be a starter when he got here. So maybe being a Bill to start his career was a blessing in disguise. He'll retire w/ the same amount of loot in the bank and will also have his health. The 3rd and long conversion %age is a Bills trademark going back to at least Walt Corey; I can't hold that one in particular against this staff. I don't care which assistants stay or go (as long as Bobby April is locked in for at least 2 years after his eventual demise) provided Dick is not on the bus after they are back on this side of the Peace Bridge. (Don't really care where he gets off, I just don't want him back.)
Wyborowa Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 pitiful showing by Buffalo....Losman wasn't as horrible as i thought he would be.... at least this shows that Toronto/Canada doesn't want/need a NFL franchise.
el_Polako Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Based on the pathetic atmosphere in Toronto, the NFL has no business putting a franchise there unless it is solely for money. I'm sure things would be much different if the team actually belonged to Toronto and the cheapest FACE VALUE ticket wasn't $200+ but all and all December 7th, 2008 was a horrible horrible day that's for sure :bag:

Toronto is a 100% hockey town. The NFL isn't use to playing second fiddle which is exactly what they would be in Toronto. The NFL would be something to do when the Leafs aren't playing. From what I have heard the crowd was dead except for the Miami contingent. From the few highlights I saw there seemed to be a lot of empty seats. There was one angle when Miami scored their touchdown where it seemed an entire section of blue seats were empty. It looks like Rogers Communications will be taking a bath on this investment. I only wish those from WNY wouldn't have sold out their own and gone to the game.

Unless the team is winning, the NFL (like the NBA and MLB teams there) will play second fiddle to the Leafs and the CFL. No one in Buffalo wants the games in Toronto, no one in Toronto wants the games there, and the only one who is benefitting is Ralph. If it means more money for a drastically upgraded coaching staff, then maybe I could tolerate it.
MattPie Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Come on, you couldn't have made the title of this, "December 7th, 2008, a day that will live in Buffalo Bills infamy"? Am I the only person that studies history?

I feel bad for those who did, but it's obvious to me that Rogers Communications was banking on the fact that Bills fans were going to take the 90-minute drive to show up and create some atmosphere. Would any of us had done so if this was the 49ers? To me, it's quite the sign that nobody wants the games outside of OP.

Grinder42 Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Safe to say that JP won't be a starting QB anywhere in the NFL. That said, I'm not sure if he's so bad because of the coaching or he's just...well...bad. I think credit should be given to the Scouts who kept JP out of the combine before the draft. If I recall he was not invited and actually showed up outside to play catch with a friend to display his goods. Mr. Donhoe felt so compelled to waste a high pick on the guy. Honestly, I hope the bills learned there lesson....there are other things that are important other than arm strength and athletic ability. Intelligence and toughness come to mind. Neither QB has both. I think if anything Trent is possibly over analyzing everything and JP well.....he probably never too a Wunderlick! Trent has a pedigree of losing and his toughness is in question? Who will be available through Free Agency next year? We need a capable backup for Trent! I say give Hamdem a shot this week!

dante23x Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Jauron was asked to respond to Brandon's comment about the team's play in Toronto being unacceptable and as he so often does, he spoke freely, but said very little of substance. "It's where we are and we're disappointed about it," said Jauron. "You're talking about a couple of things. Do we accept the performance? No, we're very disappointed in it. Is it unacceptable? How do you not accept it if you've done it? So that's where we are and we've got to live with it. That's our record and we've got to take it and go on and improve and that's what we're trying to do." Do you think he talks like that just to screw with everyone? I wonder if he talks to the players like that. No wonder they are always confused and play without any emotion. :bag:
