Bmwolf21 Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 Way to ruin a great game by Lynch and a very good game from McKelvin. Overall the defense wasn't great but they held strong despite the offense's alarming number of turnovers (yet again) but the QB play and the coaching left a lot to be desired.
Guest Sloth Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 If Jim Kelly is going to spend the entire game on the sidelines shadowing Jauron then why doesn't he just take the damn headset away from Dickie and start calling plays himself. It's obvious he still wants to be involved. I can't stand Dick Jauron. I was pissed off when the Bills hired him. I have never felt that way before when the Bills hired a new coach. How could Jauron be content w/ a 47 yard field goal? Buffalo had time to use the downs they had and get another 1st down. I gurantee the Bills could've made it a 37 yard field goal, but obviously Dick Jauron thought otherwise. The only good thing is that I can focus on the Sabres now and look forward to the NFL draft in April. BTW, Trent Edwards looks far different than the beginning of the season. He's indecisive, hesitant, and looks like a deer in head lights when he is in the pocket. Lee Evans was open a number of times and Edwards did not make one attempt for him. I can't remember the last time Edwards went deep w/ the ball. You have to spread the defense to have success. Edwards failed to do so.
Claude Balls Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 The coaching and play calling somehow gets worse week to week with this team. How does that happen? Disgustingly pitiful.
FogBat Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 The coaching and play calling somehow gets worse week to week with this team. How does that happen? Disgustingly pitiful. I gave up on the Bills a long time ago. A running joke my mother had about the Bills is that they always managed to find a way to clutch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Edwards looks like Losman now. And where did Turk Shonert go? Wasn't he supposed to turn this offense around? Looks like last year to me, which makes me think this is all the Unflappable Dick's fault. Could someone tell him to wake up and actually look like he's into the game? Dick Jauron is not a Buffalo Coach. Find me someone who looks like his heart is in it. Or that he even has a pulse.

Can we think of any of them who have been Buffalo Coaches since Marv Levy? As an aside, I'm starting to think that the Bills need to have their name changed to the Republicans.
Goodfella25 Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 I want to give everyone here A LOT of credit. I was just over at TSW...and good lord. It is ridiculous the things being said over there. That is why I love this board and visit every day--people disagree about various topics, but most of the time it is at least logical reasoning. After reading the posts on TSW, I want to punch everyone. EDIT: Everyone over THERE. :)

LabattBlue Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 -Evans doesn't even have a pass thrown his way? Seriously? -Edwards is completely screwed up right now and has little confidence in his ability to throw the ball beyond the line of scrimmage. -The conservative play calling at the end was brutal. -The "creep" defense didn't work...go back to the drawing board and stop whining that the "great" Aaron Schobel is not playing. -McGee once again got owned much like the nightmare called Ted Ginn Jr. -Jaworski was right on the money with his comments on Lynch despite Lynch having a good game. -They really didn't try and throw a single pass Evans way. -Not even a reverse to get the ball in Evans hands? -The inexperience of Fewell and Schonert is really showing. -Preston snapped the ball on the wrong count? That is a sign of a guy who has taken a beating by a nose tackle for 3 straight games. -Lynch yukking it up on the sidelines while losing(including chasing after Quinn). What a dimwit. -Wide Right? I'm numb. Just put me out of my misery as a Buffalo sports fan. Any sports fans(football and hockey specifically) around the country who don't feel our pain are heartless. :( :(
deluca67 Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 Since you mention it, was DeLuca ready to do an Ozzy on the bats over at TSW? That would indicate I was upset. There is nothing upsetting or surprising from Monday Nights game. The Bills had a chance to win the game and Coach Dick grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory. The Bills quit and stopped playing football with a minute left in the game. Coach Dick decided to settle for a 45+ yard field goal. He cost the Bills the game and Bills fans better get used to it. Three more years of losing under Coach Dick is all Bills fans have to look forward to. His tenure will be as listless and ineffective as a Bush Presidency.

The thing that kills me is Jauron's lack of brainpower under pressure. On the wasted timeout call at the goalline, just signal in a QB sneak for God's sake! But even worse is his conservative play at the end. Playing it conservative from the 30 to set up a field goal is what you do when you are TIED and looking to win it with a FG; when you are losing, you HAVE to keep pushing the ball closer. And how many times will we have either 10 or 12 guys on the field and see dudes sprinting on and off to avoid penalty. It reminds me of a high school team, and that stupid defense with all the linemen standing up is even more high school-like....OK I feel better now.

Any sports fans(football and hockey specifically) around the country who don't feel our pain are heartless. :( :( You know that feeling after being eliminated from a season? Almost a calming admittance of realization. I woke up this morning with it. I vow not to invest any emotional energy toward the Bills. No matter if they run the table, they will still lose in the first round or worse. BTW, you forgot to mention Lee Evans I think.

I think it is safe to say Juron is not a HEAD COACH. How can this staff go from looking so prepared for the first 4 games, to Andy Reid-like in the last 4? TIme management, time out usage, PLAY CALLING....what the f--- is this? Could this be Buffalo's version of Major League? Owner wants out and he can do it if the team loses a certain amount of games....and pays off a few key people to make it happen.
BMWR100RT Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 I'll start. he bought a team inexpensively, has held Bufalo hostage for 48 years, and now makes it so there is no guarantees that the team we built (yes, ticket buyers and taxpayers built the team) cannot leave anytime. On national TV, they use the words honorable to describe him. How does that happen? goodell says the futre is up to us? WTF. I think this region has supported the Bills and its lousy product about as well as any one can expect, given managements' ineptitude. We had a flash of brilliance under Bill Polian, but he was sent packing. I love Bills fans, and the city of Buffalo, but that team is irritating, and just a lousy disfunctional product with bad karma. Give me 10 wins once in awhile, and a reason to hold my head up, and things might be different. How does this relate to the Sabres? Look at the operation under the Knox's and Mr Golisano. At least we compete. Yes the losses have been tough, but we were there. Thank you Tom, for seeing something in the people of western NY and trying. The Bills.......I'm not spending another cent on that team until Ralph is gone as owner. I don't wish ill will on him from a health standpoint, but to sit there in his box and get called honorable on national TV....unfreakanbillievable. Go back to Detroit. you would fit right in to that organization. Maybe Steve Donner can get a job working for you, since you like to work with inept people. All my Bills money is now shifted to the Sabres. It's not a bandwagon move, its a sanity move. I'll be squeezing every Sunday for the Bills, but I'm not reading the paper, I'm done with TBD, being the laughing stock of national media, and taking crap from southerners and Patriots (and other teams with good ownership) fans. Go Sabres. Ralph, you and the Amerks are dead to me.
deluca67 Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 It's hilarious listening to WGR this morning trying to drum up a QB controversy. Like it matters who is at QB for the Bills. They could have Brett Farve or Tom Brady as QB this team will still lose because of Coach Dick.
shrader Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 -Evans doesn't even have a pass thrown his way? Seriously? And only one to Hardy (if he even counts as the #2 receiver at this point). Not only that, but Trent completed only one more pass to his receivers than he did to Cleveland (4 to 3). Hell, 4 receptions by receivers and 2 by the TEs. My personal favorite was Johnson's drop in the 1st on the next drive after on of the Edwards INTs (can we call this his signature move at this point?). I'm pretty sure that Johnson was completely shocked that the pass actual hit him instead of the DB. You know, I see a lot of blame being throw at the coaches and the play calling, but I don't know if I agree with that. They clearly didn't trust Edwards after the 1st quarter and that seems like a smart move to me. We've gone from one QB who lacks accuracy, has no touch on short passes, and gets sacked all the time to one who lacks accuracy, has no touch on short passes, and throws interceptions all the time. I'll give JP credit for one thing, at least he consistently sucked. It's almost like this is the tip of the iceberg with Edwards. He's getting worse each time he steps on the field. I can't wait until the draft rolls around and they pick up another QB. They're going to need a new backup anyway. TSW will have a lot of fun when that happens.
MattPie Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 SNIP So, uh, how's the Airhead running? :) I have an R1150R.

I that may be correct if you go by the assumption that it had any influence on Coach Dick's decisions. I don't think it had. IMO, Edwards could have been 20 for 22 and Coach Dick would have played it the exact same way. He is a loser coach with a loser mentality. He will never take a team anywhere other than obscurity.

I'm no fan, but I have a hard time throwing everything at him. We have a team with zero depth and a QB who is absolutely lost (maybe Jauron deserves a lot of credit for that). I'm not sure who would win with this current team. Outside of Lynch, McKelvin and maybe Johnson, is there a single positive thing to say about anyone else? It's almost like the only guy with any heart on this team spent half of the game in the trainer's room.

The lack of depth had nothing to do with quitting inside the Browns 35 with over a minute left to play. The Bills are in the midst of a run of some pathetic head coaching choices. At least Phillips, Malarkey and Williams had ballz. Cowardice from the head coaching position is unacceptable in any sport.

The pass distribution I mentioned early has a lot to do with not throwing again before the attempted field goal. The ball was going to Lynch even if they tried to throw.
Bmwolf21 Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 Wow, got raped by our own kicker... Lindell doesn't get the blame on that. No coach in their right mind "settles" for a FG over 45 yards in Buffalo in mid-November, especially not into a stiff wind. Lindell has hit more than his fair share of clutch kicks. Jauron & co. needed to force the issue and get the ball in closer to make it a more "makeable" kick. I'm no fan, but I have a hard time throwing everything at him. We have a team with zero depth and a QB who is absolutely lost (maybe Jauron deserves a lot of credit for that). I'm not sure who would win with this current team. It's almost like the only guy with any heart on this team spent half of the game in the trainer's room. When you take a team that is still precipitously thin on talent and add in a coach who is ultraconservative to the core and, save one year in Chicago, a career loser, you've got a recipe for disaster. I think we have more than enough of a body of evidence that points to Jauron as simply not a good game-day coach. His clock management is puzzling, his teams regularly fail to make adjustments, and despite the occasional special-teams gamble (which I believe comes from April, not form DJ) he routinely goes conservative and plays it safe, even if it means passing up chances to put the ball in the end zone.
