Quinn, DiPofi and Pominville

Given the fact that Quinn's title is actually Managing Partner and not President, one would have thought that he was already part of the ownership team in the first place. If he weren't part of ownership, he'd just be a President. For those who have worked in Consulting or Auditing or any other large partnership firm, the CEO of the company is actually called the Global Managing Partner not President and CEO because they hold an equity stake in the company as a partner and take in a percentage of profits whereas a CEO has a different type of equity stake and his or her return usually comes from exercising of stock options.

it's true what they say: you learn something every day. i know i just did.

Maybe if all of us chip in a few bucks we can buy out Quinn's share of the team. I don't like Quinn. That guy is a hurricane of hapless. And he's probably a bad tipper. And he's creepy.

high comedy level here - mama (percoraro) likey. also: "hurricane of hapless" goes directly into my tool kit.

mmmm. Kool-Aid, glug glug glug

you're the one who's SS saying/motto is "please pass" the same, no? ;)

I bought my Pominville authentic RBK (2006-07) third jersey back after Pommer signed his last contract. Figured that he'd likely be here at least 3 years. Now, I am hoping for more.

I bought my Roy authentic RBK (2006-07) home last fall after he signed that deal. I'm guessing that will be a safe for a while. So much so that I bought his game worn 2002 preseason (he played the season in Kitchener) black goat head jersey. That's my favorite jersey, of course.

I forgot my Satan authentic CCM white goat head and my Peca authentic Pro Player black goat head. I was hoping Peca would come back last year so that I could wear that one again.

Quinn spin at its best...

?I feel real good right now,? he said. ?Last year there were obviously issues over players not coming back, but Teppo Numminen was a significant injury. This year, we feel guys are healthy and we have essentially two new defensemen in Teppo and Craig Rivet. And [goaltender] Ryan Miller is in a position where he?s feeling secure and happy and doesn?t have the weight of the world on his shoulders.?

Quinn said the feeling throughout the franchise is that the team is ?hungry, rested and positive.?

?It?s seemed like forever since we?ve played,? he said. ?. . . You go late [into the playoffs] and you don?t recover your senses until July. We had 13 arbitration cases one year and tough [unrestricted free agency] issues the next year. You just never really recover starting up in September after that.?

I am glad that Teppo is being referred to as a "new defenseman" and that Miller is secure and happy. B-)

Spin? I don't see a problem with anything you quoted. As for the two specifics you pointed out, was Teppo here last year? Miller just signed a very lucrative long-term deal. Call me crazy, but I'd feel secure too.

I have no problem with Teppo being back as a 5-6-7 blueliner, but if Quinny believes he is the difference between missing and making the playoffs as a 40 year old, he is spending too much time in fantasyland. As far as the Miller statement, his play last year was average at best because he wasn't "secure and happy"? <_<

Larry Medicine Woman does not inspire confidence in me but I will give him the benefit of the doubt with ownership. This is probably another move in the direction of Tommy "sugar packets" selling the team.

Considering how thin the line was between the 7-10 spots last year, I have no problem with the idea that Teppo would have put us over the top. Yeah, no one can back up their thoughts on that one, but I'm sure most will agree that he is a calming presence for the entire defense.

But then again, the comment isn't about Teppo and last season. Its about moving forward to this upcoming season, which is where Rivet will hopefully play a huge role.

If Rivet is as good as advertised, I'll take his defense over Campbell's offense(and contract) any day of the week!

I have the feeling that it will go beyond just what he brings on the ice. He sounds like a great veteran guy to have around a lot of the younger guys. He and Teppo will add character to that group.

Please pass the kool-aid.

i.e. We'll drink it, but be aware we're also smart enough to know what we're drinking.

News to me as well. All the articles I read back around the time of the purchase implied that Larry would receive an ownership stake for his efforts in landing the team and for his anticipated day-to-day oversight. I guess the articles ended up correct, but I am mildly surprised that it took this long. It also explains why Larry has consistantly referred deferentially towards this being "Golisano's team".

copy that.

but, to follow your analogy through to its logical conclusion, doesn't the drinking of the kool-aid have, how you say, an unhappy ending?
