stenbaro Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Another leaked image: http://icethetics.blogspot.com/2008/09/ano...abres-leak.html The guy who took it got canned by the Sabres.....They arent to happy..
LabattBlue Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 The guy who took it got canned by the Sabres.....They arent to happy.. Quinny shouldn't be such a bitter F***. Who cares if a pic of the jersey got leaked. PS If the blue in the logo doesn't match the blue of the jersey(as it seems to be in the pics), I will be here ripping Quinny a new a#$^$#!e on the 20th.
Two or less Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 While i give total respect to the guy who took the pics and think it's a great thing he did, i don't think Sabres are out of line for firing him. When you work for the team, i think you gotta keep some things private, if you like it or not. Hopefully the dude finds a way to land back on his feet soon though.

Not saying that you should believe him or not, but John Vogl of The Buffalo News, who says he has seen them in person, had this to say about the first leaked photo: This jersey photo that has been leaked is, in fact, the actual third jersey, The News has learned. Two other things have been cleared up:1) The logo is the same color as the jersey, the darker blue. It only looks different because the different fabrics aren't reflecting the same. 2) It will have numbers on the front shoulder. Also, I have no problem with him being fired. I enjoyed the leaks, but we didn't need them. The team wanted to unveil them on the 20th and one of their employees ruined that, so he had to go.

I doubt the guy who took the pick did it to intentionally leak the information. He probably sent a pic to his wife, who sent it to her best friend, who sent it to her husband.....etc

If they figured out who took the pic(I'm not confident Quinny could get even that right  ), they deserve to be fired.

Bmwolf21 Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 I doubt it. This is the same guy who leaked the slug at center ice, right? Come on... If it's the same guy and therefore a repeat violation (and I assume he was warned about it last time) then heck yes they can fire him. Doesn't mean that Quinny needed to do so. Instead, as punishment they have made him sit through a photo slideshow of Larry Quinn's greatest hockey inventions - starting with the blue ice and hulking nets.
LabattBlue Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 ...a photo slideshow of Larry Quinn's greatest hockey inventions - starting with the blue ice and hulking nets.
Bmwolf21 Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008  Would that qualify as cruel and unusual punishment?
Bmwolf21 Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 Kinda surprised there was no discussion about the official unveiling of the new third jerseys...just went to the Sabres.com link and viewed the slideshow. I think they look pretty good, and honestly these are pretty close to what I had expected and hoped the regular jerseys would be. Here's the story link from Sabres.com, and there is a link for the slideshow.

carpandean Posted September 21, 2008 Author Report Posted September 21, 2008 There was some discussion in the SabresTV thread when it was revealed yesterday. I spent more time discussing it on Icethetics: http://icethetics.blogspot.com/2008/09/sab...ird-jersey.html Generally, I am very happy with the look. My only complaint, as noted in the Icethetics blog, is that the silver piping is arbitrarily applied. It starts at the waist stripe, comes up through the navy and ends at the shoulder seam. In just sort of hangs there in mid-air. They showed some of the concepts drawings during the "making of" piece, in which the piping continued up around the shoulders kind of like the blue shoulders on the original white home jerseys. That would have made much more sense than the piping on these. Other than that, the pants could be better, but overall, I was really happy seeing them come out in these. How could you not like this: Clearly, the pants are just a shell that is over the normal pants (look at Timmy's leg.) Is that something that usually would be swapped out with the the normal outer shell (they wouldn't have had time to do that between the scrimmage and the reveal) or does it always go over? I have a similar black, game-worn shell from the goat head day, but I have always assumed that it was changed out, not worn over. I almost think that they should just wear the normal pants.
SabresFan526 Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 I love the new uniform. I loved the original ones, but these are awesome. I like the darker color scheme as well. I'm hoping that the Sabres do what many other teams have done and make their "third" jersey into their primary jersey within the next few years and drop the slug altogether. I know the Dallas Stars did this. I think other teams have done this as well. But, good job by the Sabres with this third jersey. I love it and I hope it becomes the permanent jersey within two years.
TM8-PL16 Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 here is some video I shot of the unveiling... it's loud and a lot of screaming, but it has some good shots. I have a ton of video and pictures to upload from the days festivities...

Bmwolf21 Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 St. Louis' new thirds look pretty nice. LINK

LabattBlue Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Thankfully Dallas didn't make this third their primary jersey. WTF! The KISS principle really needs to be put front and center before the creative geniuses are turned loose!

Bmwolf21 Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Reminds me of the Wild's jersey which I really like. I really liked the Brad Boyes quote "Puck Daddy" included in that column: "I think it mixes both the past and the future, but at the same time, it's not as if we're messing with (a good thing) too much," said Boyes, who modeled the jersey for a top-secret photo shoot earlier this weekend. "We're leaning more on something different, but at the same time, we're not changing the whole thing." The third jersey was designed by St. Louis-based Fleishman-Hillard, whose sports and creative services team worked closely with the Blues to develop a uniform that could appear modern in today's NHL while also bearing a look that would make vintage collectors salivate. Sounds like the league should have hired Fleishmann-Hillard to do all the jerseys, and not let Rbk's design team in on it.
That Aud Smell Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Thankfully Dallas didn't make this third their primary jersey. sweet googly moogly, that's an ugly uni. St. Louis' new thirds look pretty nice. st. louis done good.
carpandean Posted September 22, 2008 Author Report Posted September 22, 2008 Reminds me of the Wild's jersey which I really like. I, too, like the Wild's jersey and this definitely has that feel. I'd say that the arm striping is better on the Wild's jersey, while the fact that the Blues' one has a waist stripe is better. Something like the original red Wild third would be near perfect:
