Two or less Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 As a dolphin fan I love this news! Let the bashing begin Your team will be lucky to win 5 games. Why even bother to bash you? Second of all, i was there. Edwards got hurt and they took him out. He didn't even appear hurt. On the field, he looked in a little bit of pain, but he WALKED off on his own power and he was shooting the #%^$#! with another player and just walking like he does every day. No big deal. It was a very cool night and Bills didn't wanna risk anything. They also stopped playing Lynch shortly after as well.

I'd bet Miami wins more than 5 games, Their Oline looks good, Pennington is still a good game manager, Ricky looks back to his old form, still have Ronnie Brown if he can come back from injury and their defense without Taylor has looked pretty decent. Atleast their defensive line looks good and the corners aren't bad. They lost 6 games last year alone by 3 points or less... I know a lot of people write Pennington off but I think he's a really big pick-up for them. Good to hear Edwards doesn't sound too hurt, but I wouldn't go and mark the W's on the calendar yet. I don't think Miami or any Parcells team will just roll over in the face of adversity like they did last year. And I don't see Buffalo as being too much better than them. I think it'll be more of a fight for the AFCEast cellar than we think it will. I think we all should just hope that Favre goes back to being an old joke.
ROC Sabres Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Miami has a football team? since when? They should be the ones that move to toronto. I've never seen so many Canadian football fans as I do when the Dolphins come to Buffalo. Seriously, how does that work? I'm from Toronto, I like the dolphins. It just doesn't add up.

Wow, that summer heat must be getting to you guys down there The Dolphins are still a mess, and Parcells has not turned the team around in one offseason, they may be better then they were last year, but really how mauch worse can you get then rock bottom, but they will not be competing with anyone in the AFC East for the cellar. The pats will win the division again, Buffalo and NY will battle for #2 and 3 and the Dolphins will be in the rear. They are begining to rebuild and set up a better future in miami, but they are far from competing with anyone else in the division right now. As for Pennington, Buffalo beat him twice last year and he was QBing a better team then. He is an improvement over what you already had, but what you had already there was nothing to hold your head up about

I think like most Bills fans you are completely overestimating how awesome your team is. Christ, if I listenend to my friends back home you'd swear Buffalo was a shoe-in to win the superbowl every year. To call miami a "mess" is a bit of a stretch, they seem to have already cut a lot of the fat and patched up a lot of the holes, they also have a clear direction in their overall plan and where they are heading. I wouldn't call them a mess, just not very good. I wouldn't call the Bills good either when was 7-9 something to brag about? I suppose you're right where they could be battling for #2 in the East but if 7-9 is the #2 record last year I don't see how this is anything big, also with improvements to both NYJ and MIA The race will probably be a lot tighter. Either way there will be no wildcard for #2 and everyone is a loser. And while everyone rips Miami it did take a 4th quarter comeback for Buffalo to beat them in the 1st game. If I just had to throw out numbers off hand i'd probably put the Bills back in that 7 or 8 win catagory... Miami at 6 and Jets at 7 or 8 as well.. but who knows. Either way here's to another Giants superbowl. Edit: Its also hard to say Pennington was QBing a better team last year. Miami has better Oline and Runningbacks than Jets did last year. Anyway on my way out to Chicago last week I sat across from Marv Levy on the plane. I thought that was kind of cool.

Anyway on my way out to Chicago last week I sat across from Marv Levy on the plane. I thought that was kind of cool. I am not overestimating the Bills this season. And I am looking at the Division without a bias on the Bills, I think theres a very good chance that they could end up 3rd behind the Jets if Favre decides to try and make the Packers regret letting him go. As for Miami, they will not win 6 games with the current team, 3-4 wins tops this season. They are questionable at alot of different spots right now, and they have trimmed some of the fat, but I don't think they did enough to fix the team enough for 6 wins. They are still weak at WR, questionable at QB (pennington is an upgrade over what they had though), the lines are also questionable right now as to weither they will gel enough by the begining of the season to work together and be an improvement, and the rest of the team is nothing to fear. Throw in an inexperienced Head Coach and they will struggle this year. My view on the Bills, the are questionable on the lines, especially with Peters not in there, and the d-line will rely heavily on Stroud getting back to his old self, and McCargo improving and causing enough disruption inside to take pressure off the ends. On offense they have Lunch and some decent weapons fighting it out behind him at RB. At WR, Hardy will have to develop quickly and become a threat to take pressure off of Evans and open up the passing game for the running game to be effective. At QB they are questionable, as much as no fan wants to admit that. Edwards has not sold me yet that he is the answer and will lead the team, but none of the QB's have done that. His stats didn't differ much from Losman last year, but the only difference was the game experience, Edwards did it with less experience, and thats why he is starting. The LBers in buffalo are pretty good, and their DB's are getting even better and could be one of the better young group of DB's in the league soon. Special teams they are one of the best again with Moorman, Lindell, and 3 threats returning the ball that can take it all the way. They won't win the division, and they may not make the playoffs, but they are better then last seasons team, and will be getting better as they get more experience as they are counting on alot of youth right now.

Fair enough, I think we just differ a lot on how we view Miami's lines. I their O-line last year was pretty good... good enough to have Ronnie Brown probowl bound before he got his knee busted. They drastically improved it with the addition of Justin Smiley (some tampering in this deal?) and Jake Long (While a rookie looks pretty good, physically is perfect for the position, has to work on pass protection). Vernon Carey now gets to move to his natural side. On the D-Line Vonnie Holliday and Jason Ferguson are both very good players... though there are question marks at the ends. I agree Miami's WR corps is crappy looking. Ted Ginn Jr. looks to be coming around a bit but Derek Hagan still has stone hands, Ernest Wilford whom Miami fans were excited about for some reason still sucks. I suppose most of my argument for Miami being a 5-6 win team comes in that I think the O-Line will be damn solid and the running game looks to be potent (provided Ricky keeps up his good work and keeps out of the dope and Ronnie can get back to somewhere near his form from last year). I agree with most everything you wrote about Buffalo though I havn't really watched much of their DB play other than Whitner who appears to be coming around pretty solid. Your special teams is money though, Moorman is no doubt the best punter in the game and usually gets the D out there in good position... I guess we just differ on wins. Oh well, i'm just excited its almost back, I just have to find a bar here in Chicago that'll have the games I want to watch (Not Bears).
Team Strike Force Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Apparently during practice Lynch heard someone refer to Edwards QB play as "pedestrian" and his eyes lit up and he immediately ran Edwards down. Well done. Edwards injury shouldn't be serious, it appears. They need to get Peters in there, some way or another. It won't matter who the qb is.

It won't matter who the qb is. I think Peters is still hurting. If he comes to camp not fully recovered from the surgery it destroys a lot of his leverage. Why else would he be avoiding the Bills doctors? I wonder if while under the knife ( No, James Hardy was not involved) they found something worse than anticipated.

Why else would he be avoiding the Bills doctors? I wonder if while under the knife ( No, James Hardy was not involved) they found something worse than anticipated. I'm ignoring the injury right now. IMO, the Bills should tell him he'll be off the field for the next 2 or 3 years if he doesn't play w/ his current contract. Buffalo owns the rights to him, so they can tell him stick to the contract or shove it. His value across the NFL will decrease if doesn't play for a few years.

While plausible it still doesn't make sense to me to do that. I think the Dr's would be able to tell/know what to look for and he would then still likely come in out of shape and be put on the PUP when he does get back which is a good bet anyways till he shows he is game condition. No leverage gained there at all with us or across the rest of the league for that matter.

Campy Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Why are the Bills threads on the Sabres board better than those on the Bills board? As for me, I'm more concerned about the suddenly legitimate NYJ than than the Fins...

Me too, but everyone on the Bills board seems to be assuring everyone that Favre is washed up and too old to make a difference and that they won't be better then last year
Team Strike Force Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Favre certainly is an upgrade over what they would have had in New Jersey. But Jet Favre is not going to be as good as Packer Favre, even when Packer Favre wasn't at the top of his game (05-06). Learning a brand new offense in the 17th year of your career, when you've never done it before, can't be easy. Maybe he's worth a couple more wins there, which would get them to .500 at best. Unfortunately, that's probably where the Bills will wind up... again. I'm hoping for at least 10-11 wins, but isn't everyone? Maybe Peters is waiting for OP practices to show up? I hope so. Steven Jackson reporting in STL is a good sign, I think.
Bmwolf21 Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Why are the Bills threads on the Sabres board better than those on the Bills board? Because it seems that there are more douchebags on TSW who would rather be a) right about the player they back, such as in the Edwards-Losman, Kelsay-Denney discussions; or b) want to prove they are smarter than Buffalo's FO, coaching staff and scouting staff (and of nearly every team in the league.) There is very little constructive, intelligent discussion that goes on over there.
