You guys are brutal, and childish. All I did was responded to a simple, incorrect point here, which was actually defending the Sabres, not putting them down.

You may disagree with my opinions, but at least that's what I post about.

BTW Crosschecking, FNL is a commonly used abbreviation of that league.

Again Steve,

Please explain how either affiliation agreement prevented Ra-cha-cha from signing players on their own.

And seriously, lose some weight.

It didn't, and I never said it prevented them.

However, standard practice in the AHL isn't for AHL owned teams to sign their own AHL players, so I fail to see why Rochester had to be the exception. The Amerks wanted what every team in the league got, veterans from their parent clubs. The problem was Rochester was the only dual affiliation, so more than veterans, the Amerks wanted out of it, but it wasn't going to happen from either team in that 3 year period.

Didn't you point out in the past how Hershey and other teams have signed their own players?

Didn't the Sabres also give the Amerks more money than the money provided in the standard AHL affiliation agreement, which was expected to be spent by Donner on AHL vets?

I'm not certain what the $'s in the FLA agreement was, but between the $'s coming in from the 2 orgs, I would certainly liked to have seen you spend money on something other than garbage plates.

It's rare. Hershey and Chicago seem to be the only teams who sign quality players on their own. But Hershey is owned by HERCO, and Chicago's owner wanted to buy the Cubs. They have significant money. But that's just not reality for most AHL teams, including Rochester.

Florida and Buffalo both gave the Amerks a reduced rate for players. However, it was well known the Amerks were having financial difficulties for whatever reason. So just because a discount was offered, doesn't mean the Amerks could go out and spend money on players. But when you look at the quality of players the Amerks had last season, they shouldn't have had to pay standard rate. The Amerks weren't even on the same planet as most of these teams on a nightly basis.

But, neither team actually gave the Amerks any money to spend.

Steve,

Please explain this comment.

In your previous reply, you made it sound like Florida and Buffalo provided the Amerks with money to spend, which is false. Unless I read your comment wrong.

The Sabres provided the Amerks w/ above the going rate for an affiliation. (As I mentioned earlier, I don't know how much the Cats gave you.) It was assumed that the Amerks would use some of that money on their own players. Rather than doing that, they signed up w/ the Cats and went w/ no vets. The lack of vets is on you Steve.

The fact you were under capitalized and had nothing to spend at the end of the day does not change the fact that you were the one responsible for not bringing in any vets.

No, it wasn't assumed that would happen. That was Larry Quinn's reasoning after the fact. But again, the discount didn't change the fact that the Amerks had no extra money to sign expensive veterans.

I still would like to know why the Amerks, struggling financially, were expected to sign their own veterans. It's not like the Amerks are against it. Years ago, up to 8-10 players were owned by the Amerks. But it's not possible anymore with how salaries have escalated, unless you are Hershey or Chicago.

Steve,

It's real simple. The Sabres could have given you the normal affiliation fee and paid for extra players. Instead, you wanted extra money in the agreement with the expectation that you would sign your own vets. That you decided to spend the extra money on Krispy Kreme and Garbage Plates is on you, not the Sabres.

How exactly is the fact that you were struggling financially and receiving extra money from Buffalo expected to give you a pass on running the franchise? I've noticed you haven't been too poor to miss very many meals. Again, seriously, hire a trainer or join a weight loss club. You are not going to see 2015 with your current caloric intake and expenditure.

I hope you realize the Amerks didn't want that discount. The Amerks wanted a normal rate with veterans.

So, because the Amerks wanted less money from the Sabres, they were unable to sign AHL vets on their own? <_<

I'm sorry, but you have gone from supporting a silly position to supporting one that has no logical support whatsoever.

Again, seriously Steve, lose some weight. You've done some good for my city. I don't want to read your obit in a year or 2. Have a good night, unless you respond very quickly I'll have to check it out tomorrow.

Are you this dense? They wanted the standard rate. What isn't getting through?

The Amerks wanted no money from Buffalo, no player fee discount. They wanted to pay what every other team in the AHL pays, and in return get what every other team in the AHL gets - a few AHL veterans.

Steve,

I'm done here. What part of having a few hundred k extra to spend on a vet (or 2 or 4) doesn't allow them to do that? They do pay Jody Gage an awful lot of money to be a General Manager of a HOCKEY team. Couldn't he find 1 (or 2 or 4) vets in his daily duties?

You can keep crying that the Sabres should have signed vets, but the Amerks chose to take money rather than vet players. With that money, you COULD have signed vet player(s). You chose to sign for chalupas and garbage plates. That does not fall back on the Sabres (nor the Cats, btw).

And you have already admitted that ISN'T what "every other team in the AHL gets" as you have admitted that Hershey and Chicago sign their own vets. At least get your whining consistant Steve.

Yeah, you're right. The Amerks had a few hundred grand just sitting around to be spent.

Hershey and Chicago also get vets from Washington and Atlanta. They just sign some of their own because they can afford it.

Steve, you sure do have a way of responding to your critics. That said, you failed Sibelius' motto: "Pay no attention to what the critics say. No one has ever put up a statue to a critic." This is the first time I've seen you on here. Depending on how you can take the heat in here in the middle of January, maybe not the last. As for brutal and childish, we may have our quirks, but childish and puerile aren't two of them. Brutal is more like the LA Kings from last season. At least you're not as much of a jacka$$ like a former user we ran out of here on his first day known as - I kid you not - The Brain. He ruffled way too many feathers on the first day without trying to fit it like he was Einstein on physics.

As for FNL, that's a new one to me. I prefer to stick to SM-liiga. Makes more sense to me instead of trying to Americanize something.

Curious about the sad face. Vanek-Man said:

No signings - Florida has signed more players for the Amerks than Buffalo has for Portland.

No hype - There's never hype for the Amerks in early August. If there is hype, it would be in September when training camp starts.

No nothing - Not true, as there have been signings. The team has a town hall meeting planned later on so ownership can interact with the fans.

PS Either go on Jennie Craig or get a Wii Fit. Your fat butt isn't long for this planet unless you lose about 3 chins.

Childish isn't calling me Donner in every post addressing me? Or saying to go lose weight or have some more donuts? I actually found it humorous the first time. But the last 20 times, by multiple people, it's kind of old.

We give LQ enough gruff as it is, but from you??? You've got to be kidding us! <_<

Well don't look at me on that one. From what I could see, Taro T was joking and sharing his concerns at the same time. It could be a litany of health issues, if you think about it. Some are pretty obvious. One of them isn't, and that's appendicitis. I was 5'11"/160 and 25 when my appendix burst. Really good healthwise until I realized that I almost didn't live to tell about it.

I only wish that someone could have told Jerry Falwell the same thing about his girth before last year.

I'm only sad because I have no interest in rooting for a team I was raised on.

I feel your pain. That truly is a sad state of affairs. Makes me wonder how many Buffalo Braves fans lost interest the minute they moved to San Diego.
