But I got a feeling that Max and Spacek will be gone and another defensemen will be in. I also still think that another center may be brought in although it may just be someone like Smolinski or Kevyn Adams. Don't get me wrong, not expecting all of that this week, but something may break this week and the rest will happen before training camp. Their just seems to be that vibe coming form people over there.

Their just seems to be that vibe coming form people over there. You've been beating the "big move" drum for a while -- I'm hopeful you're right. This will be a good test of these mysterious sources you frequently refer to. Frankly, though, I have a hard time seeing the Sabres bring in a guy like Bouwmeester or Gaborik (not trying to put words in your mouth; those are just the big name guys who seem to be potentially available), or really anyone who will cost $7MM+ per year. It just doesn't fit with their MO. If they do spring for a player that expensive though, I'd want a #1 defenseman who is more Pronger than Soupy or a #1 center. I must admit, now I'm more psyched for this week than I was previously. I've been starting to think that we're going to lose Teppo over a $500K or so gap in the bid/ask and not bring in any other forwards either.

Their just seems to be that vibe coming form people over there. As much as I would love to see Max moved asap Spacek is not the defenceman I would be willing to give up. I like the idea of having a defense with three possible bangers in Spacek, Rivet and hopefully Weber. I was thinking that a Spacek/Rivet pairing would be tough to play against. Spacek was the only blue-liner over the past couple of seasons to have an edge to his game. If the Sabres are trying to get Bouwmeester I would much rather see Tallinder be part of the deal. I guess that is just me trying to trade away the Sabre's garbage.

Hmm. i always got the sense that lindy and the fo really like spacek, when healthy. is there any reason to think that spacek would be included in a trade when our d is among the youngest in the league? something's gonna have to happen with max...and if it doesn't, at least he'll be fun to cheer and jeer intermittently.

I would be willing to bet that Rivet(33), Spacek (35) Tallinder (29) Lydman (30) Paetsch(25) and maybe Teppo would be among the oldest defense in the league whether Sekera and Weber are a part of them or not.
