my brother and I have the same problem, we have to buy XXL and just deal with the big jersey to have the sleeves fit... that would be sweet if they did make tall jerseys.

Maybe I am just getting fat but ... I am pretty sure I remember being in shape and still liking the fit of the XXL jersey ... sleeves and otherwise ... in fact, the sleeves are sometimes still not long enough ...

Whatever the case, I made it a point to stock up and get a couple CCM versions they used to wear/sell before last season ... even if they were not cut so tight, the RBK material is so thin, it sucks ... not sure what I will do about the 3rd jersey coming out, I know I will want one ...

Sabres debut jersey:

Business First article

Following a formula it used two years ago, the Buffalo Sabres have created a special training camp event for fans in order to showcase the team's new, third jersey.

The Sabres will be hosting "Puck Drop 2008" on Sept. 20 at HSBC Arena in downtown Buffalo. Sept. 20 is the first official day of the team's training camp. The team also said Thursday that it will appear eight times, including four times at home, on the Versus network in the 2008-09 season.

The Sabres created a similar event to showcase its current uniforms two years ago and the event attracted more than 17,000 people to HSBC Arena.

Activities include team players hitting the ice wearing a newly-designed third jersey that modernizes the Sabres' original emblem and blue-and-gold colors, an adult street hockey tournament called the "Buffalo Sabres Adult Street HockeyFest" and an autograph session with team players. Live music has also been scheduled and the team will debut a 110-foot long mural in the arena's pavilion that pays homage to the New Year's Day "NHL Winter Classic" at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

That scare the crap out of anyone else?

From previous rumors, that would just translate into adding silver to the logo and using the current navy instead of the old royal blue.

I hope it's that minimal, but with LQ at the helm I wouldn't be surprised to see them come out with a slug leaping over two crossed butter knives.

Only 8 times?? Doesn't that seem kind of, I don't know, pointless? I get the whole "money generated" concept, but I remember them wearing the old 3rd (red) jersey's every home Saturday game....i think. I'm almost certain they wore the most recent 3rd more than 8 times, too. Maybe I'm wrong..........anyone know?

And i'm pretty sure you're right, although i don't know if it's LQ's policy, i'm pretty sure it's a rule by the NHL with Reebok. Don't ask me how i know, i just remember reading it, same in the NFL, teams can only wear their 3rds twice (home and away) unless they pay a hefty price.

I wish I could be there, too.... :(

I went to a basketball tournament they had on Washington st. one year to see my brother play, but I never went to the hockey one. Wish I had, looks like a blast. Have fun!

guys, read it again ...it says the TEAM will appear eight times on VERSUS ... it's a totally seperate statement from the jersey thing ...

The team also said Thursday that it will appear eight times, including four times at home, on the Versus network in the 2008-09 season.

... IT ... referencing THE TEAM earlier in the senetence ... not the new jersey ...

I'm a little wary yet hopeful that they updated them right. Perhaps it will prove to be a segway to ditching the Austrailian sea slug that they currently sporting.

Also, in that Business First article...that Puck Drop thing is sponsered by Verizon FIOS? Buffalo has FIOS? I want FIOS.

The FIOS deployment in WNY is moving at a slugs :D pace. They started a few years ago in parts of Orchard Park, West Seneca and I believe Hamburg. Then they moved up to Amherst more than a year ago and I haven't heard anything since then about the rest of WNY being "wired".

I did hear that the town of West Seneca approved the FIOS TV piece and will be rolling it out sometime in the fall.

Note to Verizon...You may want to consider deploying FIOS in WNY with a larger workforce. <_< <_<

I really hope they paid the creative/marketing team big money to come up withy that name!

That date seem a little late in the year to anyone else? That only gives them 3 weeks from the beginning of training camp through to the season opener. I would have figured they'd've opened ~9/13.

No it doesn't. It means, it will appear 8 times total (the jersey) All home games. 4 of the 8 will be on Versus.

Even an idiot like me figured that one out. lol

Sorry, you are incorrect. The it refers to the number of times the team will be on versus. They haven't said how many times they will wear the third jersey.

It's poorly written, I admit, but not THAT poorly written... if you click on the link and read the whole thing, they lhave a paragraph about "The following are the eight Sabres' games that will be broadcast by the Versus network ..." clearly referencing the 8 times mentioned earlier in the article. It has nothing to do with the jerseys other than they announced the dates at the same time they announced the plan for the Puck Drop 2008.

I wish the Bills would pay that "hefty" price!

I don't know if it's been posted yet, but there are some cool pics of possible third jerseys HERE.

Can't stand the team (for obvious reasons) but the two mock ups for the Senators in gold are really nice looking. I also like the Hurricane's black uni. The Blues always have strange uniforms, so I can take or leave those. At least they are not these: http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b319/bea...ouisBlues96.jpg

I'm looking forward to seeing the new/old Sabres. I know the consensus is for just the old ones, but I like the idea of jazzing the old one up just a little bit while remaining true to the old (this is probably what they should have done in the first place, but that's another thread altogether).
