I saw them a few months ago in Binghamton before I found out they were coming to Crapchester. Something about seeing a concert in your home city...Dave Grohl would understand. I am so pumped. I've been listening to Foo non-stop since the last show and have even caught a few shows on TV, including their Who tribute set on VH1 Rock Honors. Any other SabreSpacers going?

They have one of the most fun tour riders I've ever seen.

My favorite highlight:

Bacon. I call it "God's currency." Hell, if it could be breathed, I would.

Bacon in any form is great. Not as an entr?e, but just in general.

They are 110% right about bacon. You can't expect anyone to fight the foo without it.

Yeah i'll be there... Seen them a number of times, I think this should be my 6th show... think i saw them first in...98 or 99, got in a bit of trouble for not telling my parents i was going to boss across the border for the Toronto show which turned into the Everywhere but Home DVD... totally worth it. I'd say that was the best show... Saw 3 in NYC, 1 in Cuse, 1 in Toronto... happy i won't ahve to go too far for this one

i can't make the trip - but, what, the bing and the roc get love, but none for the 'flo?

grohl is the best kind of musical genius -- one that takes his craft and his art, but not himself, very seriously. so, i'll say it: i gots a huge man crush on dude.

i lived out in the northwest back in the early/mid-90s, and the common wisdom was (is?) that nirvana's genius sprang forth from the generational talent and "voice" (not just singing pipes, you know what i mean) of kurt cobain. and that may be true and accurate. but i don't think many people at the time knew that there were, in fact, 2 geniuses in that band. i've often wondered exactly how much grohl had to do with making his first (well-known) band the historical success that it was -- i'm thinking it must have been a lot.

You are not the only one.

Also, if Cobain didn't off himself, do we ever get to see the genious of Grohl? Or does he get buried behind Kurt his whole career? I wonder if Christ Nova...whatever can sleep at night?

i think so, but it's an interesting point. my best guess is that nirvana would've broken up (inevitably) and grohl would've gone on to do his thing. but you have to think his "thing" have been different if cobain were still around.

that's the bass player, right? i suspect that his multimillion dollar fortune from royalties, etc. offers some comfort.

Im going to that one too, at Darrien Lake, and the only band I really don't care about seeing and would probably rather be in a beer line for is Tantric. I'm a big Godsmack fan, saw them 3 times so far (twice opening for Metallica), and I think Tremonti of Alter Bridge is one of the better guitar players today. I have also seen sevendust before and they were pretty good too.

As for the Foo's, I have always been a fan of the, and they are one of the only bands on my list that I have yet to see, but have to see before I die. There are only 2 others, the original lineup of the Smashing Pumpkins (I've seen Corgan and Chamberlin when they were Zwan at UB before), and Led Zeppellin. Dave Grohl is also on my list of "Heroes". The guy has been apart of 2 big bands, and has pretty much played every instrument in a band. (IIRC, I think the first Foo Fighters album, he recorded every instrument himself, or thats atleast a rumor I had heard)

Yes, he is also like 6' plus

I thought I heard somewhere that he runs a company that owns radio stations or something, but that may have just been a rumor or a joke during a radio interview

Dave Grohl is one of the best drummers of our era. His stick work on that Queens of the Stone Age album was incredible. He was always a good songwriter too, he penned and recorded Marigold while still with Nirvana. It helps your creativity and skills when Kurt Cobain is your roommate.

After Nirvana Krist Novoselic toured with his band Black 75, or sweet 75, or something like that. After that flopped he got heavy into political activism.

I thought about going when they were out here but tickets were a little too pricey ($80 per) for me. How much are they over there abouts?

I bought them for $26.50 a piece. They are the cheap seats but we are talking about the Blue Cross Arena (where the Amerks play). The arena only holds 10k, so there are no bad seats. The floor tickets were closer to $50.

I was at that very show. Zwan sucked IMHO, BUT the opener, Queens of the Stone Age put on a helluva show.

That is true. He told the story on Howard Stern last year. He played every note on the first album himself, then I think he got the record deal. Realizing he'd need a touring band, he hired the rest of the guys who are on the album artwork.

I wouldn't say they sucked, but I also wouldn't say they were great either

And yeah, Queens were good, it sort of felt weird though seeing a show there, it felt like I was back at highschool watching a show in the gym
