spndnchz Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 IMO Pommers is that proven player, with none of the worries we all have about signing and signing long term. Again, IMHO, he gets at least 5 years, but why not a "close to lifetime" offer? Does anyone really think he'll trail off into a Yashin? I say five years because it's a slow year for FA's, six years takes you past Miller and Vanek. We hear he's signed by August 1. We hear he's signed by August 1. We hear he's signed by August 1. PS: Only one choice, pick wisely.
Buffalo Wings Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 I think he'll be signed....but don't let the Rivet trade and one contract extension fool you into believing that the FO is on a roll. Seriously, I think we're all a bit happier than we were 382 days ago.

SabresFan526 Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 My take is that since Pommers is an RFA, I expect to see him signed during the season a la Mike Richards. I don't see him getting a Mike Richards type deal as this team has avoided giving the 10 year contract out, but I could very easily see a 5-6 year extension perhaps in October-November timeframe. I think the Sabres will try to get the farm team ready to go and simultaneously see if there are some cheap guys out there that they might bring in like Pratt last year or hopefully Teppo before camp. Once the roster for both the NHL and AHL teams are set, then I think Darcy will sign Pommers to a long term extension. Just my opinion.

It makes sense for both Pomminstein and FO to wait. But, there is a chance the Miller signing could change things tremendously. IMO, Miller signed signed a fast deal that benefits both sides. W/ Vanek, Roy, Hecht, and Miller locked up, I believe Pomminstein may have a new outlook on the Sabres. I would not be surprised if he signed a 6 year deal under a home town discount prior to August 1st. If FO can pull this off, it's going to give a lot of people in the league a HUGE eye blincker.

This could be the case. Perhaps the FO is trying to create a "hometown" feel with these guys, and showing some faith and trust in our players. I love what's going on this off-season. Not that some extensions and 2 FA pick ups are bringing home the cup or anything, but you have to admit, the idea that our organization is willing to adjust their approach to their players is refreshing, and it sends a positive message to it's players, fans, and the rest of the league. I hope they lock Pommers up by next week, and I hope it's long term.
Bmwolf21 Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 Color me unimpressed... I was thinking the same thing. Signing the little General and Mancari are nice, but <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< signing anyone else on that list, let alone the captains, Soupy, etc.
WNY-Enforcer Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 fixedStarting with last year Hecht, Paille, Goose, Miller, General, Mancari You forgot the Roy extension, which would be Targets blue light special this week it's such a great value 6 years 24M!

Roy was last July, I kinda meant since last season started but Hell, add him too. As for Mancari and the General, I agree the clock is ticking.

Not doubting your credibility, it's just that when i tell a friend and he asks, if i respond "user on sabrespace" he may tell me to get a life. lol We did hear alot about Pommers agent coming to Buffalo this week after Labor Day. I do think they will get a deal locked up by the end of the week. It's a great sign for the Sabres.

There's a thread somewhere with a link that says that negotians continue, and that they're supposed to talk again today. I'm just too lazy to dig it up. :nana:
rickshaw Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 Let's hope they get the man signed before training camp. The core is set for years to come if they do. Then move Max sometime down the line and get some more grit in the back end. In the meantime listen to the new AC/DC tune Rock and Roll Train. http://www.acdc.com/acdc101/

Posted: Friday, 28 August 2009 10:21AM Sabres talking with Pominville Nick Mendola nick@wgr550.com (WGR 550) - The agent for Jason Pominville tells WGR he's continuing discussions with Sabres management on a contract extension for one of Buffalo's 2007-08 captains, and that the two parties will talk again Tuesday. Normand Dupont is still hoping to get a deal done for his client before the start of the season, but says it's way too early in the process to say whether that will happen.
nobody Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 Normand Dupont is still hoping to get a deal done for his client before the start of the season, but says it's way too early in the process to say whether that will happen. Norm Dupont Personal: Full name is Normand Dupont. ... Also known as Normand Dupont during his playing days. Dupont has a Sabres connection. Selected in first round No. 18 overall by Montreal Canadiens. Traded to Winnipeg for David Maley. Maley traded to New Jersey for Mathieu Schneider. Schneider traded to the New York Islanders, along with Kirk Muller and Craig Darby, for Pierre Turgeon and Vladimir Malakhov.
spndnchz Posted September 5, 2008 Author Report Posted September 5, 2008 Jarret Stoll resigns with LA at 3.6 million per. Just reminds me of Pominville, abou the same size, years in the NHL; but Pommy got twice as many points. Close to twice as much money? Or did LA overpay?
Two or less Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 Kings over paid. Stoll is a good player but not a $3.6 million type player.
nobody Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 The Sabres will be lucky to get him signed for less then $6 million per season now.
spndnchz Posted September 5, 2008 Author Report Posted September 5, 2008 Wondering what he'll sign for, I had some time so I put this together. In order to screen down I chose guys around age 26, with 5-7 seasons in the NHL. Obviouslt there is more that sets these guys apart, but I figure what I listed is a good 'starter' indicator. I'd put Pomers down for Havlat money (he's been making it for years now) and Havlat is a UFA the same time Jason is and RFA.
nobody Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 I'd say the Sabres probably won't want to go more than 4 years / $24 million since that would put Pommers around the 30 year age. Gotta like that he is the only one of that bunch to play all 82 the last 2 seasons. Knock on wood - let's hope he keeps that up.
Guest Sloth Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 I'm just hope Pomminstein has the same idea in mind that Miller had. Take a long-term "home town" discount and save money for the team so they can add or resign other players. 6 million would not be a discount. I'm hoping for 5 million, but I think 5.5 could be considered a discount. Pomminstein is a vital player to this team. He is a part of the core players management needs, and is, to build around. As it was w/ Miller, the Sabres cannot afford to lose Pomminstein. If a deal is made before training camp, I'll be beyond excited and order a Pomminstein jersey as soon as I hear the news.
spndnchz Posted September 6, 2008 Author Report Posted September 6, 2008 Article on Pominville. This guy had an interview with him Wednesday the Sabres of Buffalo, is on the point of making him sign a long-term contract of at least five years for an annual salary bordering the five, six million. tough read with the translation
