Dreams Burn Down Posted November 14 Report Posted November 14 When I'm driving, and the oncoming lane is blocked, is it too much to ask that other drivers wait until the lane I'm in clears and not pull into said lane as I approach with less than ten feet to spare? 1

When my wife goes to bed, I use the iPhone app with my BT headphones. It’s awesome.

Not for the interface, not for the search function...for one simple reason. It has the spectrum TV app built in. We can get the Sabres games/MSG and a handful of other channels using their 'choice' plan (not having to get 50 channels I don't want) and pay half as much...and with the app on the Roku, I don't need a cable box or any other junk. We had a Samsung TV, they stook the spectrum app off of it. Google TV also doesn't have it. Last time I checked not on Fire TV. Not sure about Apple TV. I know you can get it through an Xbox console, but I don't have one of those. Roku for us isn't the best looking interface, but for no other reason than the spectrum app, we have it. That is very interesting. I’m serious. I think I know what I’m getting my mom for christmas now. She spends way too much on her television viewing.

I have no love for Cable companies, especially spectrum. But their 'choice' package is the only reason I came back to them, with the ability to get MSG and the Sabres games. 1

French Collection Posted November 21 Report Posted November 21 I have a golf club fitting session set up tomorrow, my irons are almost 25 years old and the newest club in my bag is 14 years old. I need new sticks to regain some better strikes. Technology has lapped me a few times and my swing has slowed a lot as I have aged. An old knee injury flared up and I can barely walk, let alone swing a club at more than 50%. I have been looking forward to this for weeks and now I have to cancel and they are shutting down for the year. The positive thing is my cheap a** will save a few grand until next summer. 1

I had a 22-23 year gap when I got new clubs a couple years ago. I guess I can complain about how certain companies inflated the numbers their machine was reading. I knew that was the case so I just paid more attention to the feel and where things were going. I wound up with Callaway irons even though they weren't going the extra 30 yards their salesman tried to push. I know your slow down isn't for the best of reasons, but I'd like one of my own. I know I've always swung way too hard and still can, but now I feel it after a round. 2

I know they can tweak the numbers but my irons are early 2000 blades with extra stiff shafts. I was a 5-7 handicapper in those years. There will definitely be some improvements with players distance irons I am eyeing up, never mind getting correct shafts. Mizuno Pro 245’s have my interest with Titleist T200s and Wilson Dynapower Forged close behind. 1

I will assume you are a senior gent like me. If you like golf then get the new sticks and play as much as you can. Get fitted, have your swing looked at first, try a few things out. Spend some time getting up to speed on it all. Spend some money on yourself. It's time to treat yourself. Once you get your knee fixed get on the golf project, and now you can educate yourself beforehand. Waiting does not always save money. A new line of equipment comes out and the price always goes up. Since you are 25 years behind the technology look at last years models to save a few bucks - you wont be able to detect any difference. You will love the new equipment and it will be much better than what you have, but don't buy the lowest line. Look for quality and value, but mostly quality. Edit: I see you added a few more post and you are not a golf rookie, so you know this already. Enjoy! Edited November 21 by Pimlach 1

I separate ones with Callaway, Titleist, and TaylorMade. I was always a ping guy before that, but for whatever reason they never came around. The current pro now brings out more companies. I guess I missed the boat on that one. 1

All just live a facade and are terrible human beings. Healthcare is in trouble. My wife has been an RN for 40 years. I retired in 2021 and since then she works very limited hours, mostly per diem when she feels like it. That way we can travel and not be tied to her job. She agrees with you. So do almost all of her colleagues. I am friends with a few doctors. You sound like them. It saddens me to hear these things actually. She is 62 and cannot keep up with the amount of documentation required, and all the new "tech" tools they now need to use. Nursing the patient is completely secondary these days. It is what she loves to do but it is not emphasized anymore. It is all about running the business for big profits. She spends more time documenting everything to avoid issues with the insurance companies and lawsuits. I keep urging her to end her health care career and get involved in other things. She can volunteer and get more satisfaction. We don't need her income, and her benefits as a part time employee are completely 100% nonexistent.

I got the bug again this year and got out 25 times. Old clubs and older body led to a lot of disappointment due to expectations of regaining past form. We know golf is hard but it’s a kick to the groin to see a 15 year drop off in one year. New clubs should rejuvenate me. I want to get back to a single digit handicap and play as much as possible while I can. Thanks for the encouragement. 1
mjd1001 Posted November 21 Report Posted November 21 Supervisors/bosses at work who lie and HR depts that cover up for them. I have this constant battle with my boss at work. The bottom line is this: Give me my schedule BEFORE the morning I have to travel to a location, Be on time when you say you are going to meet me, and when YOU are running late, do not tell me to 'clock out' while I wait for you (because the company cannot afford to pay me to do no work), go 'grab a coffee or something' and wait for her. So this has been going on the better part of 2 years. I have text messages and call logs (not recordings but proof we have talked). But whenever HR gets involved I tell them what is going on and their response is usally "We already talked to your supervisor and that is not what she said" to which I follow up with "I have proof, text messages that I can forward to you" and they respond "No, thats not necessary" I used to be in a similar supervisor position years ago. I stepped down, because I didn't think the money was worth the aggravation. Now the current supervisor cannot be on time to save her life (our scheduled conference calls have us waiting usually anywhere form 2-10 minutes for her to show up) and when she does something wrong and you call her out on it, she just accuses you of lying.

I do part time work (powerline inspections) for an electrical utility and this runs true there as well. We used to patrol in order to find issues that would cause power outages and we would have the mindset of creating work for ourselves and improving the reliability of the infrastructure. Now we patrol to find issues that cause lawsuits and let maintenance issues slide.
