Doohicksie Posted July 12, 2018 Report Posted July 12, 2018 Totally not motivated for work today. Just want the week to be over.

I'm starting a 10 day vacation next wednesday and I'm as close to coasting mode right now as is humanly possible. As for complaints, that 10 day vacation will be entirely spent staying in one house with the wife's entire family (5 other adults and 4 kids all under 7). I'm still not sure why I label it as a vacation. And also, I've been stuck in what seems like a permanent waiting mode on some other things. There's light at the end of the tunnel, but it never seems to actually get any closer.

He is currently symptom-free and in remarkably good spirits as he works his way through the testing. Won’t get a date for surgery until testing is complete. We are hoping to get that date and a clearer prognosis around the end of the month.

Randall Flagg Posted July 12, 2018 Report Posted July 12, 2018 Mild complaint, but mild colds are made far worse in the Oklahoma summer. I'm not even convinced it's a cold, because my sinuses ached for about five days before they filled up, and I'm wondering if something is just stuck in there.

WildCard Posted July 12, 2018 Report Posted July 12, 2018 Karlsson hasn't been traded yet. And, honestly, I believe by extension the rest of the dominoes haven't fallen in the NHL yet. I think Botterill has one more move up his sleeve, but everyone's waiting on Melnyk and Yzerman to finish their dance

ubkev Posted July 12, 2018 Report Posted July 12, 2018 I thought sparrows were supposed to be agile and fast little birds? Well my dogs aren't impressed. 2 dead birds in 2 days and my dogs are just picking them out of the air. Then I have to wrestle nasty bird parts away from my two murder machines who are hell bent on running around the yard playing keep the carcass away from ubkev! A$$hole dogs.

jsb Posted July 19, 2018 Report Posted July 19, 2018 First week back to work after PTO....... Is this week ever going to end???? 417 days to retirement
biodork Posted July 19, 2018 Report Posted July 19, 2018 Didn't get an interview on that job last week. It was a bit of a stretch position since I don't have experience in one of the major techniques they do, although it's something I could learn easily enough (but HR people don't know that). Related complaint: I was looking over the weekend to see if there are any companies that offer a workshop where you can get hands-on training in that technique, and I found a few but they are pricey. One is a company we use in my current position quite a lot for a different platform, and they offer both training at your location by a field applications specialist or training at their centers. I'd emailed them to ask about the latter since there's no info on the website regarding upcoming schedules, and today a rep emailed back to say they normally do these on-site and our local sales rep could help set it up, and cc'd the sales rep. ??♀️ So now I've got to worry that this chump sales guy (who thankfully isn't around much) is going to say something about it when he's here next, completely oblivious of the fact that I'm trying to build my resume so I can GTFO of this current job. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH Side complaint: I like most of the SS improvements, but I really miss the old emojis... the new ones just don't have the same punch to them.
Samson's Flow Posted July 19, 2018 Report Posted July 19, 2018 If this contractor delays the start of the bathroom remodel job one more time I might have to consider getting a bit stabby. This was supposed to be scheduled and completed in April FFS. Also, looks like pretty soon I will need to be in the market for a new car, since the old one is on its last legs. Tried to go to the dealer auction last week with my uncle, but apparently his credentials weren't correct and so they forcefully removed us and threatened trespassing charges. Which seemed a bit extreme coming from an old rent a cop security guy, but to each their own I guess.

On the emojis, I compleeeeeeeeetely agree. Those old ones were special.
Ho-Chi-Sock Posted July 19, 2018 Report Posted July 19, 2018 I teach, have the summer off. I went in today to get some printing done for a job interview tomorrow, as my laptop cord is broken and I didn't want to run down the charge on the battery. Not only is the copy machine broken/working intermittedly with no time table for repairs, but the summer program used my classroom for squid dissections this morning! And yes the smell was still there. Oh, and it turned out my laptop cord decided to work today after all. ?

They can try to get rid of 'em, but they won't get mine 'til they're pryin' 'em from my cold, dead, hands. :p ;)  (Sorry, SDS, just had to go there. :) )
nfreeman Posted July 19, 2018 Report Posted July 19, 2018 My son failed his driver's license road test today. Not a big deal, but it means I need to keep driving him to his summer job at a golf course -- which means a continuation of 5:15 AM wakeups four times per week (including Saturdays!). 12 days until he re-takes the test. I need a nap.
