Weave Posted April 6, 2017 Report Posted April 6, 2017 Bought a new to me Jeep Grand Cherokee on Monday. That's not the complaint part, that's the awseome part. The complaint part is, less than 24hrs in my driveway and some miscreant took a key to it. Left me a 14" scratch that runs from the edge of the rear door all the way across the fuel door. Pissed is an understatement.

Their first reaction was that some kid might have done it, but usually its just some jealousy thing by an adult.

Sucks that there are people who are so miserable they have to spread that unhappiness to others & can't let others have nice things without absolutely having to spoil it.

My guess is keying cars started shortly after the first cars were built. Except they didn't have keys, so they'd use a stick or something.

Ogre Posted April 14, 2017 Report Posted April 14, 2017 My poor little mother was taken again by ambulance today. Her blood sugar dipped to 27... unresponsive. Hours after her nurse had been there. She spent two weeks inpatient a month ago. Her chemo has been destroying her. She lost her husband of 50 yrs 6 months ago. She's down to 68lbs. I'm 5 hrs away on a big project that really needs me. My family needs me....I need to earn a living. WTF?!

I wish you and her the best & do hope she remains comfortable & cognizant and holds on long enough for you to be able to spend time with her and that she remains that way for a long time. You & your family will be in our prayers.
biodork Posted April 20, 2017 Report Posted April 20, 2017 iTlnSn, I hope your mother is doing better this week... I didn't think a blood sugar level of 27 was even possible to recover from. :( My super lame complaint: I can't keep up on the GMTM/DDB firing thread and manage to do work. D'oh.
WildCard Posted April 20, 2017 Report Posted April 20, 2017 Sick of asking for stuff to do at work. Then, when I don't get it and start something with initiative, they tell me not to do that Alright, guess I'll just sit on my hands then
TrueBlueGED Posted April 20, 2017 Report Posted April 20, 2017 My super lame complaint: I can't keep up on the GMTM/DDB firing thread and manage to do work. D'oh. Today, I don't even know the meaning of the word "productivity."
Randall Flagg Posted April 20, 2017 Report Posted April 20, 2017 Is literally everyone in the world sick? I feel surrounded by bugs of all kind. Seriously people, wash yo hands and stop touching your mucous membranes Also, my father and I were attempting to replace front wheel bearings in my car and one of the four bolts we needed to get off rounded, even though the bolt was turning (very laboriously). WTF. What piece of garbage car manufacturer would use bolts that round that easily. The thing must have been made of play-doh.
Samson's Flow Posted April 20, 2017 Report Posted April 20, 2017 Today, I don't even know the meaning of the word "productivity." Of course today is the day that I have tons of meetings. I feel like a bad fan because I heard about the DD/GMTM firings from water cooler gossip rather than from F5'ing the board all day. :bag: Shame.
TrueBlueGED Posted April 20, 2017 Report Posted April 20, 2017 They chose the downtown site for the new station? :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:
darksabre Posted April 20, 2017 Report Posted April 20, 2017 They chose the downtown site for the new station? :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: Ultimately, the downtown station is probably a better choice. I expect the CT will still get reused somehow, but I'm almost okay with it not being an actual train station. A downtown transportation hub makes more practical sense.

I feel like a bad fan because I heard about the DD/GMTM firings from water cooler gossip rather than from F5'ing the board all day. :bag: Shame. I got the news from a text this morning. My brother said "We're bringing The Wizard back." And I knew that Murray and Bylsma were both fired. The Wizard is what my brother calls Darcy to piss me off

WTF. What piece of garbage car manufacturer would use bolts that round that easily. The thing must have been made of play-doh. Yeah, you'll go blind. God is watching. My complaint is that I've had what acts like acute stomach flu after every single meal for about 2 weeks now. It's painful and disgusting and frustrating. It's not catchy, it's just me. Buuuuut since my bloody expensive health insurance rolled over April 1, thus nullifying the deductible my fun little kidney stone ER visit had paid out in February, I don't want to spend the money I don't have to go through a billion GI specialists' tests (which are horrible and embarrassing and painful) just for them to tell me there's nothing I can do but deal with it. Well, it's great for weight loss at least.

I think this decision was mostly (entirely?) about cost.

Well, it's great for weight loss at least. Maybe entirely too simple a solution, but have you tried probiotics? Lots of probiotic drinks out there to choose from (GoodBelly, Kefir, etc.), or supplements (although those are pricey). If it's something like IBS, this could help (gentle prebiotic soluble fiber supplement): https://www.amazon.com/Heathers-Tummy-Organic-Acacia-Senegal/dp/B0002ON8DU

I expect the CT will still get reused somehow, but I'm almost okay with it not being an actual train station. A downtown transportation hub makes more practical sense. I too disagree. We will never have any level of ridership to make Amtrak a useful transportation option if they are not A) on time and reliable and B) service routes west like to Chicago. The downtown station option can only head directly east or to Toronto and has to back the train out at a slow speed all the way to the junction out by Central Terminal in order to go west. Highly impractical. The main routes will just skip over Buffalo since it will add an extra 45mins-1hr to the total time because of the logistics of getting to the downtown station. Central Terminal was put where it was because it is directly on the E-W main line and can send trains in any direction with minimal/no delays.

I haven't read any of the proposals in depth, but if down town can't service through traffic then what is the point?
