dEnnis the Menace Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 I alluded to this in a previous complaint, but now I need to complain even more. I've had temporary full custody of my three year old son for 3 weeks now, with a hearing scheduled for next Tuesday. His mom (my soon-to-be ex-wife) and her live-in fiancee are being investigated by DSS for child abuse. Both the investigator and his pediatrician are ready to claim it's abuse, and not "slide related bruises" as mom/bf claim (my son, in detail, has explained what happened to 4 different people, saying he was punched repeatedly by the bf). So DSS turns it over to the police two weeks ago, and the detective has yet to act on it. When I told the DSS guy on Tuesday, we was very upset, because he "gift wrapped" this for the detective, and said he wished the detective would "get off his duff and get to work." The DSS investigation is supposed to be over, with the results released, tomorrow, just in time for court. But since the police haven't done anything, we have to wait until they finish their investigation, dragging this whole thing on even longer. Now I have to try for a continuance of custody on Tuesday, instead of just permanent full custody. Needless to say this has flipped my world upside down, but my boy is doing awesome. He's never been better at daycare, and his teacher will be testifying on my behalf saying that the angry, emotional behaviors he used to exhibit on days when his mom would pick him up have disappeared. That's a tough situation. Best of luck to you. Glad to here your son is doing better! I hope and pray this all works out for you in the long run.

I'll send some good vibes your way to get the legal system moving.
millbank Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 (edited) I follow the Toronto Blue Jays... Last week on three consecutive days three of their top starters went down to injury, one will not be able to return to late August/September at best, the other two will have Tommy John surgery and will be lost until 2014, and at that who to say potential their career holds for them. Year began with such optimism of finally being able to at least compete, no matter how they wish to put the best face on it, this year in terms of competing a tall order to start with is now not a reality, season in terms of competing over and it is only mid June. Good God root for Leafs, Sabres , Bills, even just getting my pants on in the morning and they get caught at times, can anybody win around here.... in some century.... lifetime (noted above post, the trials of following sports teams pale by comparison, most sincerely wish a solution best for all can be the ultimate resolution as all involved work through this in what would have to be painful process. ) Edited June 21, 2012 by millbank
dEnnis the Menace Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 That sucks dude. If there's one thing you don't mess with it's employee vacation time. Number One way as a business manager to get everyone to hate you. yeah, and now I have ZERO motivation to put any extra time into my work. There is no incentive. Yeah, I will still put the customer first and get the job done, because it needs to get done. But I don't expect to be going above and beyond any more. ===== It's coming up to mid-day here in Halifax and only one complaint from me so far. After some perfect weather the heat and humidity have been building for the last few days, with today expected to be the worst. Not so much of a complaint for myself, but this weather really exacerbates my wife's health issues. that really sucks  hopefully it won't be as bad today then!

Number One way as a business manager to get everyone to hate you. My other complaint is that Wegmans told me that their distributor is no longer going to supply Vegemite. Now what the heck am I going to eat for breakfast? Guess I'll have to start buying it on Amazon or something. Marmite is better. My complaint, Seizures. No matter how many I see (and it's a lot), each one is scarier than the last. Next complaint, I finally decide to start riding my bike to work and yesterday was the hottest day of the year so far, and it's going to be even hotter today. I guess if I can get through these two days the rest of the Summer is gravy.

Wanted to get up yesterday and ride, but by the time I got up it was too hot. Same today. Really looking forward to tomorrow's cool down.

That sounds pretty perfect for me. :) It was 80 F at 8am today, with the high in the mid-90s (F, again). And I'm not even in the south.

Holy smokes man... it was bad enough the ex-wife was bipolar, but letting her new bf beat her own son??? I sincerely hope everything works out with this and you can keep him far, far away from that guy. You sound like a wonderful dad and he sounds very well-adjusted given all that's been going on the last year or so. Best of luck! Edit: Thanks again to all for the well-wishes on my dog. He's stabilized now with a new medication specifically made for canine congestive heart failure, and I'm hopeful that will keep him comfortable until it's his time to go (and that I won't have to make that call). shrader Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 There are still 3 more work days before I get my vacation. A lot of people are already gone so I'm running low on stuff to keep me occupied.

biodork Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 This is minor compared to last week, but other than the usual overtiredness, it's all I've got: My coworker is a rather large (okay, morbidly obese) guy. He's a nice enough person, but he's got hygiene and gastrointestinal issues that are generally undesirable in a coworker of any size. He's constantly turning down the thermostat (even in the winter) because he gets overheated easily; meanwhile, I'm freezing my butt off. In an attempt to resolve the issue, I brought in a fan for him to use at his desk for self-cooling, as a previous coworker used to do. It finally seems to be helping with him leaving the thermostat alone, but it's having the unintended (and very undesirable) effect of circulating his BO around the lab. Yuck.

dEnnis the Menace Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 If you see Nicolas Cage - run! Another complaint of today: I have been working on getting ready for qualification testing on one of our products, and I have been having a hard time getting straight answers out of my customer, so we did everything we could with the little info that we had. This is the first time we've ever qualified our unit on an individual basis rather than at the actuator/system level, so we also have no idea what to use for loads etc. Well, I just got off the phone with the boss of the contact I've been talking to for 5 months...and he just undid most of the work by correcting what was wrong. I could've saved endless days of headaches by calling him months ago :wallbash:  :death:

You'll find that some...in fact, I'll be bold and say that MOST people aren't very good at their jobs, and/or make working with/for them much more difficult than it should be. (I'm not talking about you, I'm talking about your contact.)
shrader Posted June 22, 2012 Report Posted June 22, 2012 I have no idea how it happened but I'm moving this to the correct thread: I saw one hell of a combination of good and bad when leaving work today. This car stopped in the middle of a crosswalk and a blind woman with a seeing eye dog couldn't cross because of it. The dog wouldn't go since the path was blocked. A bus driver got out of his bus and yelled at the guy to back up. He then escorted the woman across the street. He then proceeded to get back into his bus, run a red light, and block the entire intersection.

Randall Flagg Posted June 28, 2012 Report Posted June 28, 2012 My Grandmother remains in the hospital after open-heart surgery, though she was supposed to leave several days ago. Each day, some new problem pops up that requires her to stay another night, and she is miserable. Yesterday, her heart started beating irregularly again, which the surgery was supposed to fix... Just hoping that the new medication they put her on works and she can leave the hospital soon, and we can all resume our normal lives...we haven't been able to plan or do anything, out of uncertainty of her schedule...

LastPommerFan Posted June 28, 2012 Report Posted June 28, 2012 136 days on the market, still no offers on my house. Temporary living assistance runs out next month, so from there forward it's paying rent and mortgage for me. So much for buying hockey tickets now that I live back in Upstate NY... :wallbash:
