I'm pretty sure one of my neighbors has a pet pterodactyl. Their house is across the way, but the squawking is still quite loud and jarring to hear. I feel bad for the people who live right next door!

My neighbor up the hill has peacocks and while I was visiting the builders we would hear these cat-getting-skinned noises.
They would all stop working in unison and I’d say “Oh that’s Crazy Margaret’s place. Seems funny that I haven’t ever seen a cat around here.”

Whenever the commercials come on TV with Flo(Progressive), I wonder…how did they ever make it past a focus group?

She may be the all-time most annoying person ever in a national ad.  This includes the current ones featuring Jon Hamm.

They need to go back to the “becoming your parents” set of commercials.   Can’t believe the same ad agency is responsible for both fantastic and AWFUL commercials.

I was expecting far worse.

Right?  Forty bucks?  I mean, it's not a small amount of money, but it's not life-changing, either...

Certainly not life changing, but for $40 I want a bottle of whiskey, not syrup! Although the syrup might last longer... 🤷‍♀️

Maple old fashions are yummy, add a little orange zest, viola.

I did the same thing at a market with a fancy hard cider, but I said no, then that misses at the time overruled me because she felt bad.

Don’t normally venture into this thread. My complaint would be that not all websites (in fact, very few, maybe none) are populated with the intelligent, cool, gentleman/woman-ly posters that frequent this great site.

It’s a privilege. And I dedicate this next hit to you all.

I’ve had enough of these 100+ heat indices. I replaced the rear pads and rotors on my truck today. Because of the 100 degree temp and me still not wanting to push it, a job that should have taken about an hour took over 5 1/2 hours. Lots of breaks and sitting. Lots of water, too,… lots.

Summer sucks. I’m ready for fall.

Working on my *****in days off! Jesus H. Christ, this sucks! I walk in the door and everyone has a problem that I have to solve. And, on top of working my weekend, I have 105 Performance Evaluations to get done before the 26th(I got them yesterday.) Why don't I delegate them? Funny you should ask. This is the casino business, ya see. 87% of the employees read and write at a sub-6th grade level. I'd just have to fix all their ***** ups anyway. And I can't give it to the hourly supervisors anymore, because we can't give them work to take home, because they aren't being paid for the 11 minutes of work that it would take for them to evaluate 3 or 4 dealers each.

***** me! Back at it. 16 down, 89 to go.

Today is the first day since I was 18 that I don't own (or don't have within the family) a car that's a standard. So long, 2011 WRX. 😞

Update: 103 evaluations done. And I'm done. I know what you're thinking, "that math doesn't add up." Well, it does now! Thanks for making it easier on me, ****ers!

This is horrible news. I'm sorry.

When you do most of the shopping, and ask your wife if she needs anything from the supermarket, and she says no. So you go and you buy yourself some snacks for the weekend of the upcoming games.  2 days later you go to get your snacks and they are ALL gone.

So you bring this up to her and remind her she ate all your snacks and ask her what snacks SHE wants because you are going to the store again. She says nothing...so you go out the following week and buy your snacks and a couple days later when you want them, they are ALL gone again.

Hide the snacks I guess.   Or buy bigger quantity since you know she wants them too.

We bought three steaks once upon a time.. Three nice 16 oz strips.  Grilled ‘em to perfection.  The third steak was for breakfast, with eggs, the next morning.  For BOTH of us.  Next morning, no steak.  Had she given it to the dog? No.  She—all five foot zero, one hundred ten pounds of her—had eaten it the night before, while I wasn’t looking.

So we walked to Elmwood for breakfast, and yeah, I had to buy!

Little steak thief!

Working for a company that is hiring people at a higher rate of pay than those who have been in the same job with them for 5 or 6 years.  Bringing it up to the supervisor and have the response be "there isn't any room in the budget for wage increases for existing employees".  (But there IS room in the budget to hire people at a higher rate?)

Taking that to Human resources and having a woman who seems to be no more than 25 years old as a 'senior human resources' manager talk to you over the phone, have a major attitude, interrupt you when you are talking, and basically tell you 'too bad', because it is up to the managers.

For me, this is only a second job "part time", but none-the-less I'll be looking for something else. Not because it is a bad job or I can find a better job, I just don't want to work for a company anymore that has management and HR people who act like this.

I was riding the Aprilia today and I put the faceshield up to itch my nose.... The guy (or gal) in front of me decided that was the perfect time to hit the windshield cleaners. Got drenched in chemical goodness all over my face.

The finger lakes are having an issue with Harmful Algae Blooms, also known as cyanobacteria. It’s nasty stuff.  It can kill your dog if ingested and you can’t swim in it.  Smaller/shallower/warmer lakes are more susceptible, but it has been reported on Seneca Lake (the biggest finger lake by depth). Honeoye Lake is a MESS.

It really sucks. I just want to enjoy the lakes, but it isn’t safe.

That’s a bummer. Too many big rains that wash fertilizer into them, as well.

The medicine I’m on makes me feel like 🤢 all the time. And tired.
I haven’t worked since February. I go back next Wednesday. I really don’t want to,… ever. Gonna have to pack a lot of summer in this weekend.

And like I’ve stated upthread, this summer can suck it. Too GD hot!
