Eklund loves Buffalo (e5)

Two or less

I think it's Jason Williams that Ek is referring to formerly of the Blackhawks, not Justin Williams from the Canes who got ripped up by Max in a fight.

haha good call. My bad. I just saw Williams and i knew that Justin Williams was still unsigned so assumed it was him.

...Anyone wanna guess where he was for 6 hours today? My guess is veinsveinsveins.com appointment...

Either that, or he got his excessive sweating taken care of.

Jason Williams would be a solid addition. That means the FO isn't going to sign him. Expect to see him in a Maple Leafs jersey if Ek is right.

That's right, because the Sabres front office is clueless and only Sabres fans know what's best for the team and its chemistry. I almost forgot. Thanks for reminding me.

Official slogan of Sabres fans (or at least the vocal minority):

Sabres: The Grass Is Always Greener On The Other Teams.

Haha so true.

To the topic at hand though: I would take either Williams. I've seen a lot of Carolina over the last few years and Williams always impressed. He doesn't give up on plays, has good speed and can setup and score. Jason has nice heart and can chip in 15-20 every year on the third line.

Thats more the joke against Eklund then the FO

The joke around here is that if Eklund predicts it, theres not a chance it will happen.

BTW, not everything said around here is a jab at the prescious front office

I have to wonder why someone with so little regard for the opinions of fans would spend time trolling a fans message board?

Some of the posters on this board have been following the Sabres for 20-30+ years. There some opinions on this board that I hold in higher regards than some of the so called experts who get paid to print their opinions.

Fans have a right to express their frustration. For 16 other teams last season "the grass was greener" because they played playoff hockey. Going into this off-season there were great expectations. The Sabres have fallen way short of those expectations. The Sabres went into the off-season with room under their self imposed cap and failed to land a free agent that would improve the club. They traded for Rivet and his toughness on the blue line but for some reason felt the need to trade Bernier who represented pretty much the only size and toughness among the forwards. It is understandable that some posters would feel signing a forward like Jason Williams would help the team. It's also understandable to feel frustrated when another player is off the market at a reasonable price.

It would be reassuring for some fans if the Sabres were able to sign a player who wanted to come to Buffalo other than back-up goalies desperate for a job.

But time following a team doesn't always mean much of anything. My aunt has been a crazy Bills fan since day one, but she still doesn't know a thing about the game. I've been following college hockey for about 10 years now and I'm stunned by some of the utter stupidity of the people who have been following it for 30+ years. That's not to say that one person is any more of a fan than the other, I just don't put any value at all into some of their quick fix ideas.

My point was not to validate every opinion. Each opinion should be weighed on it's own merit. My main point was that you can't completely disregard an opinion just because you disagree. Shouting down that opinion, IMO, shows a lack of maturity. The post which brought about my response is a classic example of trying to devalue an opinion and attempted to put a label on another poster. "Official slogan of Sabres fans (or at least the vocal minority): " is an example of trying to say you belong to this group so you opinion is worthless because everyone with this opinion is worthless. Which for lack of a better word is bullzhit.

I don't know if the Sabres had any interest in Jason Williams or if even if they did and signed him if Williams could make an impact. That doesn't make the feeling some posters have that Sabres are incapable of signing quality free agents unsubstantiated. Free agency is now a major tool in the building of competitive franchises. It is here to stay and will become a greater part of building teams. At some point the Sabres are going to have to get involved in free agency and start using it to their advantage instead of using it to play the victim. I'm not saying that drafting and development shouldn't always be the top priority. It should always be the top priority. If the Sabres continue to rely on that solely than they are doing themselves and their fans a disservice by not using every available resource to build this franchise.

FWIW, Kevin Lee from hockeybuzz is reporting that Jason Williams has signed a three year deal with Ottawa at $1.9 million per. He is also reporting that Vermette has asked to be traded. Not sure I buy it, but that's what is being reported, but if true the Sens without Neil and Vermette become a lot less fearsome to me.

From the same Eklund blog, he has Teppo signing real soon with either Los Angeles, Montreal or Atlanta....

Finally some good news for Sabre fans.

How exactly is this good news? I'm not saying it's bad news but he's a UFA. I know it takes away the temptation of the FO from signing him and have to go find another right hand shot on the blueline but I feel this is more just news as opposed to good or bad news.

Maybe, depending on what we do instead. Is it good if that means Pratt is our #6 instead? Or if Weber gets rushed up too soon? There may be some better options out there, but he's far from the worst. I definitely wouldn't say that it's good news yet.

Dude, you are definitely an interesting breed of cat. I'm not sure how the 2nd post follows from the 1st.

I still am curious if you are going to attach Danny Briere to the hands grasping Eddie's shirt. (BTW, that is a pretty sweet tat.)

The second post was a response to the news that Teppo is rumored to sign elsewhere. It's just a feeling I have that the Sabres sometimes need to be saved from themselves. Sometimes they get attached to players for reasons I have no explanation for. Players like Teppo, Timmy and Peters continue to find a spot of this roster. Their usefulness has long since departed.

I was thinking about having the hands replaced with hockey gloves. It would have been funny for a couple of years but beyond that people would be like "Briere who". So I tried to stay true to the album cover. I will have adding some hockey tats. I am now going through some old cards which I plan to have tattooed at some point.
