inkman Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 I caught it. Don Cherry was telling Rome that the US's problem was goaltending. Hmmm...can't figure out how they would solve that issue. Not one mention of Ryan freaking Miller.
Taro T Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 I was on the way to getting a late lunch and got to hear the Cherry interview. I thought it was interesting how he thought the Canadians will overreact and "blow up" their program. The Canadians left a lot of good players at home: Phaneuf, Spezza, and Staal come to mind immediately. At a minimum, I would not have had Bertuzzi on the roster and would not have had at least one of and possibly both Doan and Draper. I'd take Stillman, Williams, or even Brind'Amour over either of the last 2 guys. I also saw the Costas Gretzky interview. Wayne won back a lot of respect with the way he handled himself in the interview. He basically said it wasn't a case of 1 or 2 players not getting it done, they didn't do it as a team, and he was the one that assembled the team. So essentially, he was standing up and taking the blame for the debacle. He also handled questions about his wife and Tocchet rather well.
Taro T Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 Just an FYI. MSNBC is rebroadcasting the Gretzky interview right now prior to the Czech - Sweden game.
