Golisano

I never said that he shouldn't spend money on philanthropic causes. I only said that if he spent his money as freely with the Sabres as he does elsewhere, we would have a better FO and would not be seen as a cheap franchise across the league that isn't willing to pay to keep or bring in top talent.

Please don't insinuate that I think Golisano is a bad guy. He isn't. He gives to a lot of charitable causes, and he did keep the Sabres from bankruptcy and being sold. I don't have a problem giving money to political causes either, and I respect that he cares enough to participate, even if I don't necessarily agree with all of his views. I never said he shouldn't give to all of those causes, but I wish he would give as much to the franchise to get better quality players and a new FO. Is there anything wrong with that?

No ... and I admit I probably read too fast and read it as "if he would use THAT money" ... obviously that's not what you said.

but your problem really isn't with the money so much as how they have spent it when it comes to the hockey team ... their payroll is not THAT low, they do spend money ... you just don't like where they have spent it. If Connolly and Afinogenov performed up to their contracts and the team was in the playoffs, woudl you be complaining about money? So throwing more money at it will not fix everything.

That is the better complaint.

Maybe if he decided to spend money to acquire better players and a new FO for the team rather than on these endeavors, we could actually win a Cup.

exactly my point.

He's giving the money to Steve Pidgeon to control, who has been in the forefront of the Democrat stranglehold on this community for the past 3 decades. What people also seem to miss in all this is that Larry Quinn was appointed to control all of the funds of the Harbor project, and this crew is all sewn in together. On a personal note, Golisano can do whatever he wants with his money....but the facts are that there is a major political pod inside HSBC arena. To not realise there are conflicts of interest between what is best for the community, and what is best for the pockets of these people in running both the Sabres and nearly every local construction project is a problem.

While I joke about Golisano spending the money on free agents, he is not putting his money in the political arena for change. He is trying to solidify the existing local cash pipeline and do a return favor for those that were able to get him the Sabres on the cheap.

Buffalo as usual, all in a shiny new package.

I am looking at this from a different perspective. TG is donating money to candidates that meet his needs. If you think TG represents your needs as well, then it's a great donation. It's funny to think that a multi-billionaire has the same interests as the common man.

As a common man, I have one vote, just like TG, and will vote for that person that I think will fix the state. If exposure to one candidate sways the populace that much, I hope we all have the same intentions. I personally don't think $5 million donated to an election campaign is the answer, but it is his money.

I'm going out on a Drane limb here, and I am going to say......8-1 odds against the picture matching the person.

Now DeLuca....just as I imagined. In this case......I don't even want to speculate!

Just how often did you "imagine" what DeLuca looked like?

Out of the few posters that I have met in person, no one ever looks like I picture them. It's weird how the mind paints a picture based on typed words but alas a picture is created. I can only imagine what peeps think I look like (if you are one of the 4 posters that hasn't seen a pic of me).

All I ever picture is V... or the freakish calves.

DeLuca,

I've agreed with some of your posts in the past, but this may be the first time that I actually wished I wrote it.

I obviously have my issues with how TG has run the team and I do think he will sell sooner rather than later, but no rational person can argue with his desire to do good with what he has and to put his money behind what he believes in.

I'm not sure what makes me more uncomfortable. Tom Webster giving me a compliment or The Ghost of Dwight Drane wondering what I look like. They both make me want to scrub down with Brillo Pads.

Be sure to hit those dishes in your sink while you're at it... :D

For sanitation's sake, preferabley before he scrubs himself down. The reverse order is an upleasant thought.

I wonder if he invites his buds over for a dinner party then after they are finished he shows them those photos, releasing panic among them, realizing they have eaten of plates scrubbed with , ass crack and taint water.

Just like the episode of Seinfeld where Kramer had a garbage disposal installed in his shower.

I was thinking the exact same thing :D

Elaine, [eating dinner with Kramer, Elaine, and Puddy]: "Mmm. This food is

fantastic, Peggy: And what a pretty radish rose, huh?"

Kramer: "Well, thank you."

Elaine: "Here's to Peggy, on her first week of being germ-free, free."

[all four make toast]

Kramer: "Yeah. And here's to David Puddy for helping me install a much needed

and much appreciated garbage disposal in my bathtub."

[all four make another toast]

Peggy: "You have a garbage disposal in your bathtub?"

Kramer: "Oh, yeah, and I use it all the time. Yeah, I made this whole meal in

there."

Elaine: "This food was in the shower with you?"

Kramer: "Mm-hmm. I prepared it as I bathed."

[Peggy, Elaine, and Puddy all gag and wretch]

Puddy: "Oh, germs. Germs. Germs!"
