FogBat Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 if you watch the youtube videos of sabres games in ot or game tying goals you'll notice a consistancy on the backend. Teppo is out there. not Campbell, not spacek, Teppo. i think that says a lot. I think there was something at the end of the season where Teppo was interviewed by local media on Sabres.tv (or something like that). He basically said that he didn't want to go anywhere else and that he and his family like it in Buffalo.
RuffRuff Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 Darcy needs to go now. This is absolutely ridiculous. :wallbash: :wallbash: Something IS ridiculous, but it ain't Darcy. Let me see, what could it be...
SabresFan526 Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 I was kind of on the Jason Smith bandwagon, but I would have preferred Orpik over Smith for basically the same job. Smith is getting old, has little to no mobility, and has really weak knees. I'd still prefer Teppo, who is older than Smith, than Smith. I think Rivet basically made the Smith signing not happen, and frankly, I'm fine with that. Rivet can do the dirty work in the defensive zone and has some offense to his game. I still feel like this team desperately missed Teppo last year, and I do think with Teppo there the Sabres are a playoff team last year. He was key to the transition offense, and he doesn't make the bonehead plays that Lydman and Tallinder made consistently last year, which was running around in the defensive zone leaving someone wide open in front of the crease to score an easy goal on Miller. Teppo brings a calm and positionally sound game with excellent passing and transition offense. I would love to have Teppo back next year. If we do sign Teppo, then I still want more person coming in, specifically a second line center to play with Hecht and Pominville. I don't want Hecht playing center anymore. He's just not good enough on faceoffs, and neither is Connolly. We need a second line centerman who can win faceoffs.
RuffRuff Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 We would have had him if we weren't so fu*kin cheap. Or if Buffalo was a more desireable place to play. Or if anyone in the FO had a clue. WE SUCK!!! GO SABRES!!! There it is again. "If anyone in the FO has a clue" It's fans on message boards who have no clue. Darcy knows perfectly well what he's doing. It's not as simple as "player is available. Would be a good fit, therefore he should be a Sabre as long as our FO has a clue." That reality only exists in fan messageboard land. Many factors go in to a players decisions, and it's not just money. Smith said he had 9 points to ponder - do YOU know what those nine points are? Do YOU know what any player's considerations are? For all anybody knows, the sabres offered more money and he preferred to live in Ottawa. Who is clueless again?

Based on the tone of previous posts by K-9, I think he was being completely sarcastic and making fun of all of the people on this message board that have a "doom and gloom" outlook towards the Sabres front office. I can't speak for K-9, but based on previous posts, that would be my interpretation.
Bmwolf21 Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 NM - I didn't read 526's post and he hit the nail on the head, IMO.
navybillsfan Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 Come on guys, like the Sabres were going to sign him. Everyone relax, we have no chance at winning a cup next season. Buy a ticket and like it!

Someone else is sick of the Chicken Littles and I-Know-Betters.
stenbaro Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 At $2.6 million per year or thereabouts, I'd rather have Teppo (whom I suspect we'll get at about $2 million per). I would rather have Smith and Teppo ..Our Defense wouldve been Stanley Cup material..WE MISSED THE BOAT again..We still need another defenseman even if we sign Teppo..I am a little less po'd due to the acquiring of Rivet but I am of the feeling that we passed on a chance to have one of the better defenses in the league this upcoming year.Maybe we make another move...

He basically said that he didn't want to go anywhere else and that he and his family like it in Buffalo. Can't be. Everyone knows Buffalo is the worst team to play for given that sh*t for brains FO. What's more, they screwed him over with how they handled his heart problem last season. It's obvious Teppo is lying through his smoke stained teeth. GO SABRES!!!

But those that know my posting trends know I'm not a doom and gloomer. I leave that for the well, doom and gloomers. I'm feelin' ya, RR. GO BILLS!!!

Two or less Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 Didn't want to start a new thread, but Garth at hockeybuzz.com claims we're after Rhett Warrener.... take it for what it's worth. I'd prefer Teppo over Rhett.

I'd prefer Teppo over Rhett. Same here. After reading about Rhett's Connolly-esque medical issues over the last few years, I'd rather we say "thanks, but no thanks" to Rhett.

I have a feelihng the rumours regarding Rhett are coming from the same people that claim every trade deadline we are after Kevyn Adams...

For all anybody knows, the sabres offered more money and he preferred to live in Ottawa. Who is clueless again? It would be you! If you are looking for rational, cognoscente opinions it is you who are without a clue. Message boards are for all who have an opinion. If a poster has the opinion that the Sabres front office has made a huge mistake by not signing Jason Smith it can't be wrong it's his opinion. The idea that the Regier and the FO is somehow beyond reproach is just asinine, IMO. The symbol of perfection in the NHL is the Stanley Cup. Since the Sabres have not won a Stanley Cup it is fair to say they are less than perfect. That being said they are open to criticisms from fans. It is also part of being a fan on a message board to micro-manage the Sabres and scrutinize every decision. If what's fun about being a fan. The message boards have replaced the water coolers and allows a more variety of opinions. I myself do not agree the Sabres have made any mistake in not signing Smith. That's just my opinion. It's doesn't mean I or anyone else who agrees with me has any more of a clue than those who disagree. So please do us all a favor and try to remember that before referring to other posters or their opinions as clueless.
shrader Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 So please do us all a favor and try to remember that before referring to other posters or their opinions as clueless. But several posters are in fact clueless. Perfect example: Taro T.

For all the posters agreeing on the Detroits recipe for success thread, keeping Teppo fit's right in with there model of keeping the older valuable veterans around a little longer to help the kids transition their game to the next level. The qualities Teppo brings are exactly the kind we could only hope some of the kids coming up would develop... IMHO
