BamBam Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 Its from Eck but just read what the Sens are trying to do..... Quick Update: I am hearing that the Senators may be working on a major offer sheet to try and steal a RFA defenseman away from an unsuspecting team...The Sens are definitely in need of help on the blueline having lost Redden and lost out on Campbell...The real target has to be Jay Bouwmeester for the Senators, but the draft picks you'd have to give up could really kill a team, so I am told the Sens are trying to trade for Bouwmeester today instead, offering up Vermette, Mesjaros, a serious prospect and a #1 in 2010... Sens Shopping For Jay So for all of you that proposed the MAX, MAC, and a 2nd rounder for Bouwmeester, think again. Nobody wants that package. If the cost of Bouwmeester is that high it would cost the sabres much more then they could part with.
shrader Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 So in order to fill a whole at defense they're going to create another hole on defense? Brilliant. :wallbash:
Swedesessed Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 Wait, when Ek comes up with this 'rumor' we believe it because we do not like Max...but if it is something else, he sucks, is making up the entire deal, and is clueless????

Swedesessed Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 im operating on the assumption that if ek writes it, it's not happening. And I thought BamBa was under that assumption too...but now this above is fact?
BamBam Posted July 5, 2008 Author Report Posted July 5, 2008 And I thought BamBa was under that assumption too...but now this above is fact? I'm not saying its "Fact" in regards to the Sens going after Jay and what their offering. I'm saying that there is no way we could ever expect to receive a decent player back for the combination that everyone has been throwing around which is Max, Mac and a 2nd rounder.

This is a whole nother ball park of risk that our current FO wouldn't even dream of trying for. Plus, we don't have the players to do that kind of a deal. Unless Rivet is part of some scheme they're secretly cooking up ... :wallbash:

Exactly. The Bouwmeister (sp?) talk has been somewhere between stupid and just plain garbage. If the Sabres want him it wold cost something like: Sekera Paille Kennedy and a pick Does that sound like something the Sabres should do?

I don't think anyone mentioned it, but one of the players Ottawa was giving up was Vermette. He filed for arbitration. Wouldn't that be like Buffalo offering up Teppo? So, if you are comparing our players to what Ottawa offered, keep that in mind. Pull Sekera out of the mix, to give up Max or Kotalik, Paille, and a first rounder and I say gidde' up!
