Two or less Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 My friend just called me and they the FAN 590 in NYC is reporting that Kalinin signs with the Rangers with Naslund. He knows i love the Sabres and thats why he called me. Sorry for starting a separate thread but figured we'd respect a old-Sabre a bit, even though we all hated him. lol

Bmwolf21 Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 He will have a mental breakdown and be back in Russia before the end of his second year in MSG. The NY fans will eat him alive.
stenbaro Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 He'll probaby win the Norris. :wallbash: Save the worries no chance of that happening...lol

Goodfella25 Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 AH HAHAHA wow people think we have a bad GM....at least he isn't a senile old man that smokes cigars and makes brainless decisions such as signing someone like Kalinin.
SabreInFla Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 Let's guess the terms of the deal. 2 years at 3mil? Total of 3 that is.
stenbaro Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 I have no link no proof but I found out Mike Ryan as of this time is no longer in the Sabres plans

SabreInFla Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 Found on a Rangers fan board.........fan's description of Kalinin. One of those 'tweeners. Not overly physical, not soft either. Not an offensive dynamo, but isn't inept at that part of the game as well.
Goodfella25 Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 Found on a Rangers fan board.........fan's description of Kalinin. One of those 'tweeners. Not at all physical, softer than your ice cream on a 99 degree day. Not an offensive dynamo, but isn't inept at that part of the game as well. Fixed that for him.
SwampD Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 Now there will actually be more apathy on the ice than in the stands at MSG.
That Aud Smell Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 so are we officially abandoning the "day 3" thread? :bag:
BetweenThePipes00 Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 I hate to root against a guy but ... if Kalinin breaks out in NY ... I can't even finish the sentence, that guy has been such a tease ....

If he breaks out in NY it will be because he picked up a hooker and didn't use protection. Seriously, though - I wouldn't be surprised if he did play much better there. It might be the change of scenery he needs.
inkman Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 I have no link no proof but I found out Mike Ryan as of this time is no longer in the Sabres plans The proof is in the pudding...er...lack of any discernable hockey skills outside of skating.
spndnchz Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 so are we officially abandoning the "day 3" thread? :bag: The day one thread went until 12:44 today. We probably won't "pin" anything until we pin a tail on DR.
BetweenThePipes00 Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 The proof is in the pudding...er...lack of any discernable hockey skills outside of skating. Not fer nothin', but that's one more hockey skill than Peters has ... just sayin' ...
Goodfella25 Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 Not fer nothin', but that's one more hockey skill than Peters has ... just sayin' ... Every single other player in the NHL has at least one more hockey skill than Peters. He's probably the worst player, skill-wise, in the NHL. And he ain't that great at the fisticuffs either. Anyway, nobody needs to worry about Kalinin breaking out. The guy's done and we know it, which is why he won't be back. He'll probably be on waivers at some point this season.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 It will be interesting to see who he gets paired with. They shipped out Tyutin yesterday who would have been a nice match. I think Kalinin is just a nice, shy guy who looks for a little leadership to follow. He was the best 4 on 4 defenseman we had, bar none. When he is on, his offensive vision is superb. When Pratt came to pair with him, he settled down and was able to take some chances knowing a stay at home type was with him. So what does Lindy do when they trade Campbell? Move Kalinin away from Pratt. Lindy threw a tantrum and Kalinin was sitting 3 games later. Kalinin may feel more at home in NYC. There is a big Russian community there and that will help. Considering the moves the Rangers made, I can see Kalinin getting PP2 time and putting up 40 points on a solid team. If they pair him with some grit, watch out.

wonderbread Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 My ? is how can the Rags ice and entire team? They have to be close to the cap and it appears they have 19 players under contract and are close to the cap. How is this possible?
bottlecap Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 too bad he never realized his potential in Buffalo. I think he had serious problems with Ruff. In any case (sigH) there goes another player without anything in return. But then again, there's the Campbell move that is suddenly looking good for us and not so good for San Jose.
