spndnchz Posted July 2, 2008 Author Report Posted July 2, 2008 Anyone else notice that Philly is over by 4 million and Chicago over the cap by 2? I know they've got time, but is there someone there we want to take off their hands cheap? Also noticed Buffalo is second from the bottom insofaras percent of salary on defenseman. (I guess because of multiple UFA's)

nfreeman Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 I noticed they also cut Gauthier..He is a tough defensive defensman that could help us besides Jason Smith that is a charitable description. "Talentless punk" might be more accurate. We ain't bringing him in.

(I guess because of multiple UFA's) If we're going the trade route to find a defensemen, we should look to Chicago to see what that asking price is for D Duncan Keith. He has to be somewhat expendable now that Campbell is the #1 offensive guy. He'd be a nice fit here in Buffalo. Also Bouwmeester is an obvious trade candidate as Florida still can't seem to get him signed.
That Aud Smell Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Also Bouwmeester is an obvious trade candidate as Florida still can't seem to get him signed. :w00t:

(I guess because of multiple UFA's) I think that Chicago would have to move Khabibulin, or Havlat or a D-man. They need 2 or 3 forwards and have to dump money. Afinegonov for Havlat??? :D

Would be interesting if we could swing Bouwmeester and Greg Campbell (I know he has terrible numbers but he's a young center that could help us out if he progressed).
Strow Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 I noticed they also cut Gauthier..He is a tough defensive defensman that could help us besides Jason Smith Gauthier is terrible. Sure he is a tough d-man but he would end up watching a lot PP goals against in the box or maybe a tan from all the red lights coming on while he is on the ice in his own zone.

Sure he is a tough d-man but he would end up watching a lot PP goals against in the box or maybe a tan from all the red lights coming on while he is on the ice in his own zone. Gauthier retiring will cause Cortisone stock to plummet.
X. Benedict Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Malkin extended: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=242269&...=headlines_main a five-year deal averaging $8.7 mil
LabattBlue Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 I would like a better two way center and they are still there if they want..Maybe Darcy wants to give Gerbe a shot at winning a job sometime this year and expects Connoly to get hurt again. Gerbe plays LW. ;)
LabattBlue Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Also Bouwmeester is an obvious trade candidate as Florida still can't seem to get him signed. Newsflash...I could be wrong, but my crystal ball says if Florida can't afford Bouw, sugar packets Golisano won't even come close.
stenbaro Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Gerbe plays LW. ;) Maybe Kennedy??? I am more than sure I can throw some name out there besides Macarthur that will stick..LOL
ROC Sabres Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Maybe Kennedy??? I am more than sure I can throw some name out there besides Macarthur that will stick..LOL Mancari, if they resign him that is.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 I like these for their respective teams; Montreal is taking a hit, Kostistyn was signed I know. Good eye.....I wouldn't have cried if the Sabres made just about any of those moves.
wjag Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 2 July 2008: TSN reports the Sabres have just signed a lifetime contract with Mr Goodwrench to service and repair the Zamboni. The move, a first of its kind, has been hailed by GMs across the NHL for its forward thinking and cost cutting. While other teams were being distracted by escalating UFA prices on Canada Day, the Sabres maintained perspective and locked up this maintenance contract. LQ was overheard boasting that at least the Zamboni will be locked up long term.
Goodfella25 Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Jarkko Ruutu is a Senator. Now we have to deal with him AND Neil 8 times a year.
darksabre Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Jarkko Ruutu is a Senator. Now we have to deal with him AND Neil 8 times a year. Well now we definitely need someone with a mean streak. Seriously, give me Bertuzzi.
LabattBlue Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Jarkko Ruutu is a Senator. Now we have to deal with him AND Neil 8 times a year. Why would the Sabres want Jarkko for 1.3 a year when we have Peters. <_<
ROC Sabres Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Jarkko Ruutu is a Senator. Now we have to deal with him AND Neil 8 times a year. Connolly's chances of getting knocked out of the season just doubled.
Buffalo Wings Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Why would the Sabres want Jarkko for 1.3 a year when we have Peters. <_< Ruutu actually plays the entire game. Thus, he's worth more than Peters.
wjag Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Connolly's chances of getting knocked out of the season just doubled. :worthy:  Post of the day!!! :worthy:
Buffalo Wings Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Connolly's chances of getting knocked out of the season just doubled. Which Senator gave him the lick in the '06 playoffs that knocked him out? If it wasn't Neil, then his chances just tripled...
X. Benedict Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Ruutu actually plays the entire game. Thus, he's worth more than Peters. Nobody turtles like Ruutu........
tom webster Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Which Senator gave him the lick in the '06 playoffs that knocked him out? If it wasn't Neil, then his chances just tripled... Peter Schaefer and he's not there anymore, but he is in Boston.
