spndnchz Posted July 2, 2008 Author Report Posted July 2, 2008 Yep, all two of them. :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t:
ROC Sabres Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Yep, all two of them. You cant count the owner and GM.
darksabre Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 What would you guys think of picking up Bryan Berard from the Isles? He's a UFA who puts up pretty solid numbers considering he's half blind. He's been around the league for a while and as evident by his reluctance to quit, probably has a real heart for playing.
Goodfella25 Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Hossa to Detroit. Wow they are stacked. http://www.postgazette.com/pg/08184/894245-100.stm
Goodfella25 Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 You cant count the owner and GM. No I bet you they don't even like the Hurricanes.
darksabre Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Hossa to Detroit. Wow they are stacked. http://www.postgazette.com/pg/08184/894245-100.stm Pens fans have got to be crying right now.
That Aud Smell Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Hossa to Detroit. edit: tsn doesn't have it posted yet, and the post gazette's web site is apparently about to crash, so i infer they're the only one carrying the news at the moment.
Goodfella25 Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Tell me how you defend against this: LW - Henrik Zetterberg C - Pavel Datsyuk RW - Marian Hossa D - Nicklas Lidstrom D - Brian Rafalski That's as good of a starting 5 as anyone has iced in the last 10 years, if not more.
ROC Sabres Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 One year day for 7.4 million why only one year? Hossa is probably smart doing this. As long as he keeps playing well he can re-up every year (until people realize that he's not someone you want on your team).

awill29 Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 One year day for 7.4 million why only one year? Zetterberg is currently making about 2 million. He's a UFA next offseason. The Wings are smart in doing this.
nfreeman Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Hossa is crazy to do this, but give him credit -- he obviously wants to win the Cup.
Knightrider Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 One year day for 7.4 million why only one year? Somebody wants a drink from the cup.
spndnchz Posted July 2, 2008 Author Report Posted July 2, 2008 Hossa wants a Cup, IMO. Detroit has 3 or 4 big UFA contracts coming up in 09-10, Zetterberg, Samuelson, Hudler, Franzen... Detroits numbers I guess a win-win.
Buffalo Wings Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Tell me how you defend against this: LW - Henrik Zetterberg C - Pavel Datsyuk RW - Marian Hossa D - Nicklas Lidstrom D - Brian Rafalski That's as good of a starting 5 as anyone has iced in the last 10 years, if not more. I can *almost* guarantee that something will come up (injury) and one of these 5 will be scratched for any given game. Wait...this is Detroit we're talking about. Might as well keep the cup there.
shrader Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 I wouldn't ignore the possibility that Hossa might want to return to Europe at some point... after winning a cup, of course.

ROC Sabres Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 I wouldn't ignore the possibility that Hossa might want to return to Europe at some point... after winning a cup, of course. I think his agent got confused at lunch when Hossa said "I could go for wings"
X. Benedict Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Somebody wants a drink from the cup. He must of wanted out of Pittsburgh, I can't believe that they wouldn't have matched that.
carpandean Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 This is a cup repeat move. Hossa gets a fair amount of money to join a team with underpriced players for next year that already has a great chance of winning the cup. After that, the team will change and he will be free to try the market again. He's playing hired mercenary for a year to get his best chance of an instant cup. Risky, should something bad (injury, drop in performance, etc.) happen next year, but if he wants the cup ASAP, that's the move to make.

tom webster Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 I wouldn't ignore the possibility that Hossa might want to return to Europe at some point... after winning a cup, of course. That was actually my first thought.
