Eleven Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 According to TSN, another low blow: Canada had a setback at 16:52 of the first period when first-line winger Simon Gagne was helped off the ice favouring his right leg after a collision with defenceman Darius Kasparaitis during a power play. Kasparaitis threw a low hip check that sent Gagne into the air, but no penalty was called by American referee Dennis LaRue. Gagne returned for a handful of shifts in the second period, but then stayed on the bench. __ Did anyone see it?

It didn't happen along the boards and Kasper hit him with his rear-end more than his hip. It looked like the brunt of the blow was to Gagne's abdomen area.
PTS Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 Yes, I saw it and it was even cleaner than the Connolly hit. As much as I hate Kaspiristis, until hockey says hip checking is illegal, those two hits are clean.
BetweenThePipes00 Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 I agree, I saw it too and there was nothing dirty about this one ... funny TSN jumps all over it when it is a Canadian guy but Connolly ... no big deal ....
