Will the Sabres trade for a good player this weekend?

Will the Sabres make a real trade this weekend?

  1. 1. Darcy and Quinn have stated multiple times this offseason that help is needed on defense, and that the trade route is more likely than the FA route. This weekend is the first potential player movement bazaar of the offseason. Will it happen this weekend? Will Darcy trade for a top 2 center or a top 4 defenseman? [Note: the question is whether we will trade for an established NHL player, not trade for a draft pick.]

Anyone think they might try to package both first rounders to move up into the top 10 and would it be worth it?

If they were able to do this I think they could get either one of the solid defensemen or even a center like beach.

i doubt it. everyone is saying this draft is remarkable for its depth, so there's no need to trade 13 + 26 to get into the top 10.

now, trading #26 + an enigmatic, mercurial winger in order to get into the top 15 twice, that i can see.

My little guy is 10 weeks old ... he was born the day the Sabres beat the Bruins 3-0 to close the season ... he's undefeated!

And they haven't even given up a single goal during his life. I think you should keep him around.

I voted no, but of course hope that I'm wrong. Great kid pics everyone! My boy is 3 1/2 and as much as I've been trying to teach him to love the Sabres, I've been more successful teaching him to hate the Canes! My wife just delivered a daughter last month, I don't have any Sabres gear for her yet, but I will by the time the season opens.

If this is as deep a draft as they say, I would not give up both 1st rounders to move into the top 10.

Well it depends how deep the Sabres think it is ... if it's good 3 rounds deep, would you do the 2 first rounders for a top 10 and a 3rd rounder? they'd still have 4 picks in the first 3 rounds then ... Not sure I would do the straight 2-for-1, but if I got something else back ...

Also, while the draft as a whole is deep, Darcy has said they think the elite players are 10 or 12 deep and there are 3 guys they would be very happy with ... I'm assuming Stamkos is not one of those guys because he is not falling at all, but if they could get their favorite guy of those 3 at No. 5 ... I would consider it. The good thing is, if it's not the right deal they are still in great shape at 13 and 26.

As I posted in another thread, Darcy and the scouting dept. are very high on this draft. We are not going to make a trade that results in us having fewer than 2 picks in the 1st round.

I'm guessing that the 3 players Darcy "would be happy with" are guys that are ranked somewhere around where the Sabres are picking. If the 3 players DR will be happy with are Stamkos, Doughty or Bogosian, or even a couple of other prospects expected to go in the top 5-7 picks, DR will not be "happy" when the 13th pick rolls around.
