Buffalo Fan Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 It's so nice to see the Flyers take it in the poop shoot. Biron hasn't played poorly, but I would love to see an 8-0 blowout in game 4 ala Buffalo a couple of years ago. These fans down here were talking such trash leading up to this series...and now they are crying about injuries. Timonin MIGHT have been worth 1 win. This "rash" of injuries that they are complaining about PALES in comparison to the Sabres 2 years ago.

I'm sure a lot of non-Sabres fans who read that would say "Are they STILL crying about injuries from TWO YEARS ago?!?!?" Bottom line, it's no fun without the Sabres in it ... nothing about these playoffs has been "nice to see" ;)

This is what we get when our team misses the playoffs. Sad.

awill29 Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Flyers have a good team, no doubt. But they've run into a buzzsaw with Pittsburgh, who has arguably the best team of the decade. I honestly don't see the Penguins losing more than 1 more game. They're just that good. With that said, though, I'd love to see Philly get swept.

I agree, I wouldn't call the Pens team the best team of the decade just yet, best potential team of the decade maybe. In 5 years I bet we could alllook back at that team and need to use toes to count how many of todays (in the future) superstars were on that team, if they livce up to their potential. The Pens, just like the Flyers before this series, were just good teams (with some superstars) that hit hot streaks at the right time

That's why I said arguably...and yes, the Avs were very good, but the Pens have been flat out dominant.

They have played everybit as good as the Guins and IMHO, they have played tougher competition. The Detroit Red Wings have been good all year and simply dominant in the playoffs. I'll be rooting for the Guins, but I just don't seem them standing up to a western style assualt. They're gonna make rag dolls out of Staal, Crosby and Malkin... I like a lot of players on the Flyers: Brierre, Carter, Lupul, Richardson, Hartnell, Biron, etc. I was glad to see them take down the Habs only because when Buffalo played the Habs at the end of the year, the Habs embarrassed the Sabres right off the ice. The Habs got their comeuppance. But now that the Guins are playing them; I'm enjoying watching the Guins roll them.

They aren't clearly the best team of any year yet. I still think that Pittsburgh is a flawed team on defense. They can win the cup, but I don't think beating Philly is anything close to what Detroit can show them. Their's will be the softest road to the Stanley Cup finals in east in recent memory. Ottawa/NYR/Philly only 127 regular season wins. Compare to Ottawa 2006-07 Buffalo/NJ/Pitts 149 regular season wins. and Carolina in 2005-06 Montreal/NJ/Buffalo 140 regular season wins. Tampa in 2003-04 Montreal/NYI/Philly 119 regular season wins (in a season with no shootout wins).

Pittsburg looks great, and they might be, but I really think Philly would have made this a really good series with the injured d-men. Detriot might destroy them. I think the Detriot defense can handle the big Pittsburg forwards. I was surprised how easily they took care of New York, I must admit. But that Dallas team is good and Detriot went through the first three games like nothing.

After all, they did get Hossa at the deadline, and he took a little while to settle in. I'm talking about their roster, and the only team I can see that would give Pittsburgh a fight would be the '01 Avs. And again, I said arguably.
