tom webster Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 Here's some great Sabre related hockey stuff to get excited about. There is some great young talent to build around. Final score is 5-4. I'd rather not say who scored the winner with under a minute left.

If you watch the highlights, check out Jason Chimera miss an empty net from five feet away with under a minute left, right before DH's blisterer. Shot it right over the top from the edge of the crease!

X. Benedict Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Nice to see Kane set up Pommer with that cross ice pass on the power play. Beautiful. They both list Buffalo as their hometown.
Bmwolf21 Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Subtle "I'm picking up your sarcasm." "I should hope so, 'cuz I'm laying it on pretty thick..."
Wraith Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Nice to see Kane set up Pommer with that cross ice pass on the power play.Beautiful. They both list Buffalo as their hometown. That's sure to tick off some Canadians. Sure bodes well for Pominville's future with the Sabres though. He's attached to this community.

apuszczalowski Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Buffalo's in the U.S. so you need a new map. Pomminstein has dual citizenship (like me) and he made the choice to play for team USA instead of Canada Man Sens fans must be pissed off right now with Heatley, imagine if he was playing like that a couple weeks ago......... But I guess the same could be said for the Sabres and Vanek too........
BetweenThePipes00 Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Pomminstein has dual citizenship (like me) and he made the choice to play for team USA instead of Canada Actually he said that Team Canada has never contacted him about playing at any point in his life... so not much choice! But it's understandable ... as good as he has become it's not really a slight to say he's not one of the best 20 players from all of Canada. Fact is they could send a B Team and beat most other countries on any given night. They can't dominate the world anymore, but the depth is impressive.

Bmwolf21 Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Buffalo's in the U.S. so you need a new map. LINK I think someone else picked up on my joke. Nicely done... A goal is a goal, but the best backup the US has is Craig Anderson? I mentioned in the other thread, but Esche is also on the roster. Esche? Robert Esche of the Russian Super League? That's the best we can do? There are no other US-born goalies who could use the experience?
SwampD Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 LINKI think someone else picked up on my joke. Nicely done... Doesn't he look like the coach from the NHL Network commercials?
BetweenThePipes00 Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Doesn't he look like the coach from the NHL Network commercials? Wow ... I think it's actually him ... that movie is at least 10 years old, right? could easily be him ... great find.
SwampD Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Wow ... I think it's actually him ... that movie is at least 10 years old, right? could easily be him ... great find. Not sure if it's him, but he's Canadian too. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0399126/
spndnchz Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Max also scored for Russia. and a plus two? Maybe we should keep h..... nah, nevermind.
X. Benedict Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 and a plus two? Maybe we should keep h..... nah, nevermind. His stock going up is not a bad thing.
spndnchz Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 A closer look at the stats shows that 10 out of the 13 forwards scored at least one goal so far.

Why would it piss of any Canadians?...............As much as I like Pommer's there is no way he is gonna be able to crack a Team Canada lineup in any big tourney's, so it is the way to go for him.
