Iginla, Malkin, Ovechkin Up for Hart

NEW YORK - A veteran captain and two of the NHL's young guns were named finalists for the Hart Trophy on Tuesday.

 

Calgary Flames winger Jarome Iginla, Pittsburgh Penguins centre Evgeni Malkin and Washington Capitals winger Alex Ovechkin are up for the award, given to the player judged to be the most valuable to his team.

Who'd of thought that a Penguin other that Crosby would be up for this trophy. Sindey's injuries were probably the best thing that could have happened for Malkin. Kind of like Pominville proving himself without Briere this season. If they sign Malkin long term, too, they will have an amazing tandem for many years.

If I were a GM I would try to make the Pens an offer of a lifetime for Malkin. I like his overall game better than Crosby's and think that he and OV are the best two forwards in hockey. They are only behind Lindstrom as the best players in hockey overall.
