NESN, Boston area is very pathetic

I am shocked, absolutely shocked (sarcasm!)- NESN has now pre-empted TWO Bruins playoff games

for two Red Sox regular season games. I think that pretty much says it all about the Boston market and

their priorities, and to think these MORONS force me to watch NESN instead of MSG where the Sabres

actually play! Ugh... they deserve NO championships, and yet... well... you know. <_<

You forgot about the Celtics...... just trying to help, and the Patriot draft specials btw.

The Celtics aren't on NESN I don't think... so it is quite stupid :)

I honestly dont watch NESN to much at all, but if its anything like WEEI the Bruins are easily 4th on the totem pole.

Shows you how much basketball i watch...

I understand that, but it is the playoffs... and NESN always has a lot of Bruins coverage. Jack Edwards was so smug that

they made the playoffs, and they don't even televise most of the games! How ironic.

Its blacked out on Center Ice here in Massachusetts FWIW. Maybe someone will call the whiner line tomorrow.

I'm watching it right now on CN8. (ch 3 in Medway, MA)

There are a LOT of us who are forced to have NESN instead of MSG who have no CN8 channel to turn to, so

even then it is Fd up.

When the Bruins clinched a playoff spot Edwards acted as if the Bruins had just won the Cup. i had to look at my calendar and make sure that it was not june.

Gotta remember....the Red Sox are everything to everyone out there. If the lead sports story on the news doesn't have anything to do with them, then that anchor would probably be fired. They'll critique Jonathan Papelbon's Irish jig before they talk about the Celtics winning the NBA championship.

The Patsies* come in a close second, but only when they're winning.

I'm enjoying watching the 7 or 8 Bruins fans rant about this. Its nonstop comments about how the Red Sox fans are nothing but fake bandwagoners. I guess they don't pay attention to any other team in this town because this city is all about bandwagoning. That building has been empty all year for hockey games, even right up until the end of the season. Now that they're in the playoffs people care. I'd say they care enough to actually buy tickets, but no, its the Montreal fans filling that arena (a great sight on tuesday, by the way).

Though there aren't many, I have a lot of respect for the Bruins fans that I've met. More than one has said they were glad they made the playoffs, but they wish they had a more entertaining team.

have a work buddy in Boston, he watched the game on NESN the other night I think. But, he did say NESN can only do one HD game, and that the Sox/Yanks is a no brianer for that. Might want to check your dial for another NESN that is non HD. Comcast in DC has that set up i believe for when both the Caps and wizards are on at the same time.

Yankee fans are the only impeccable fans on the planet. Everything they do is righteous and everything Red Sox fan's do is sacralige.

I'll never question the fact that every team has real fans. This town just seems to be more bandwagon that others I've been in. From the pros down to the college level, I've never seen so much bandwagoning. I'm sure that the fact there are so many options to spend disposable income on around here plays a huge role in that, but come one people. Stick with a team through thick and thin. Its far more rewardable if by some chance they actually do win (there's the Buffalo fan in me throwing that big IF in there).

I've lived WNY, Albany, and Boston. Albany has 4 football teams (Bills, Giants, Jets and Pats, although this may have changed since the Giants moved TC to Albany), 5 hockey teams, and three baseball teams. Boston is pretty pathetic about bandwagonism, too, though.

Nobody circles the bandwagon like Philadephia Flyers fans. Man, they came so close to missing the playoffs, and you didn't hear a PEEP out of sports radio here. All of a sudden, they are up 3-1 on a crappy Caps team, and this team should EASILY beat the Canadians in the next round. I tell you, I had NO idea how many Flyers fans were in my office until they won game 3 of this series.

Has an intelligent fan every called up a sports radio show though? I'm sure there are a few, but to me, those shows represent the lowest of the low among fans. I'm not going to use that as a gauge. For my statements about Boston, I'll look no further than the rapid increase in the number of Patriot hats over the last 8 years. When I first came out for school, I never saw any Pats stuff at all. Now its everywhere. This year saw a small spike in Bruins gear too. I work right next to the arena and almost never saw jerseys until this year.

I walked to many games when i lived on Beacon Hill around 1997-99, alot of families with kids at Bruins games. that was during the Big Dig and the Joe Thorton/Samsonov timeline, but they sucked. Patriots were non-existant, I went to Sox games alot to back then also, vs. yankees, not a big deal.

All different now, these Patriot and Red Sox fans are simply that, not fans of the cities themselves. They do not want the responsibility of the Bruins or Celtics. I dont give a crap, because when i say i am from Buffalo, then I get the riot act.

i am willing to bet the you'll find the real fans outisde of the city, not able to afford to attend the games. for crying out loud, the city's population explodes during the time school's in session. that's why none of the douche bags you see rioting or politely marching in the streets outside fenway after a huge victory are actually from the commonwealth of massachusetts.

same here. i'm from northern n.y., and by all rights ought to be a sens/habs fan, but anytime i tell someone i'm a sabres fan, or they see my BofA credit card with the goat-head on it, they start waxing on about how awful my life must be, and what a waste of time being a supporter of a couple of doomed franchises is. of course, 11 years ago when i moved here, none of them would have uttered a peep.

it's amazing what winning a championship or 5 will do to your typical masshole. it's really quite disturbing, and i can't wait to change careers and get out of here.

You must be forgetting all those Grogan jersey's you would see around NYS back during his time as a Patriot QB  . The only real fans in Boston are the die hard Red Sox fans, but it was only until recently that they had to add seats to Fenway. Seems right around the same time the team starting winning. How long has NY been putting over 50,000 in seats at Yankee Stadium?

I'll give you a perfect example of a typical Boston fan. My ex-wife! She now watches the Celtics when they are on TV. I said are you #%^$#!ing kidding me? The only thing about Boston b-ball she ever knew was the name Larry Bird and how ugly he was, not even that he was a great player. When I met her she was wearing a Bruins jacket. She had photo albums full of pictures and Bruins players autographs. That's what originally attracted me to her (besides the good looks that is), was her love for hockey. Now she wears nothing but mostly Red Sox and some Patriots clothes. I'm sure she'll be wearing Celtics crap if they win the championship. Unbelievable.
