inkman Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 I think the case could be made, that Jersey and Buffalo have had the most high impact free agents leave if the most actual number since the lock out The Sabres only had mid level guys leave, while NJ had elite players leave.
wonderbread Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Sarich decapitates Marly J2rvOQHSXKU Marleau was the only one playing with any passion last night for the Sharks. They seem almost as docile as last years Sabres. Considering how many times their guys got crunched and no recourse. Just my .02.

I bet he felt it this morning though.

bob_sauve28 Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Didn't that funny speaking goalie from Detroit play in a Buffalo a little?? LOL!! Wow, missed that one

tom webster Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 The Sabres only had mid level guys leave, while NJ had elite players leave. On that, I choose to repectfully disagree. I'll give you Niedermayer, the rest I would consider Buffalo's equal or greater.
stenbaro Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 The Sabres only had mid level guys leave, while NJ had elite players leave. HAAAAAA..Too many beers today..LOL
stenbaro Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 I doubt it. If you doubt that you must believe kalinin is an NHL caliber defensman..LOL
inkman Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 HAAAAAA..Too many beers today..LOL Neidermeyer>Campbell Arnott(in his prime)>Briere & Drury Rafalski>The rest of the Sabres free agents combined
tom webster Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 Neidermeyer>CampbellArnott(in his prime)>Briere & Drury Rafalski>The rest of the Sabres free agents combined You could have made your case better if you remembered to include Gomez. I believe you overrate Arnott, besides he's past his prime. Besides I would argue Dumont is more valuable to that team. I would equate Gomez and an aging Arnott with Drury and Briere and give the edge to Drury via importance to team. Campbell and Rafalski a wash, like I said, I'll give them Neidermeyer.

Chief Enabler Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 I give alot of credit to Arnott; being a genuine captain, responsible, big center & willing to play the system in NJ successfully. He may be over the hill like Sundin but if the Sabres had charector like that I think it would do a world of good. Dumont was never special to me, he has had flashes but above average in my book. Back to the thread topic, Gratton had the potential to be that guy (Arnott). We need to find the next one in Free Agency probably.
tom webster Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 Really? I think that is a hard case to make. Although Arnott is 3 or 4 years older. I think its close, the numbers are almost identical and Arnott is captain, but in following them, it seems JP has a certain standing amongst his teammates. If they were both available right mow, I'd go with Arnott, but mostlt because he fits what Buffalo needs right now.
shrader Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 You may want to list the entire trade before judging it. Tampa received: Cory Sarich Wayne Primeau Brian Holzinger 3rd Round Draft Pick (Alexander Kharitonov) Buffalo received: Chris Gratton 2nd Round Draft Pick (Derek Roy) Primeau and Holzinger were dead weight. Sure, I'd love to have Sarich, but the draft pick exchange worked out heavily in our favor.
