Call them like I see them! <_< he aint here is he?

That original post may have been the most ignorant thing I've read on this board. No matter you think or believe of how it all went down, he poured his soul out for this city and his team.

Yeah, as much as I think Drury liked the idea of going to the Rangers, I would never question his commitment to playing hard for whatever team he is on. Off the ice, when it came to making those decisions, who knows? But on the ice, he always gave it his all.

That's is such a load of crap and shows how little you know about the man.

you know - you may want to consider that you may be fluttering a little too close to the light.

If you think you know Drury, then perhaps someone can help talk you through these things. Professionally... ;)

My god this thread is a freakin' Medusa head

Hey, that rhymed...that would make a perfect ending to this! Whaddya say, guys? (Don't answer!)

Even people who know Drury don't know Drury. I know enough to know that on the ice, he was nothing but comitted to the task at hand.

And I know, that New York wasn't an option till Nylander left, no matter how much he may have wanted to play there.

and I know enough to know that regardless of what he did on the ice, the employees at HSBC knew he was gone at season's end.

Maybe some of them should have shared that info with Larry Quinn who apparently didn't know till mid June.

(I can do this for a long time!)

Edit: I just checked and you won't believe this, but I can only do this through page 48! There has never been a #49 on the Sabres. What are the chances?!

That Drury GTG still gives me chills... :worthy:

On a side note - look at the guys on the ice for that tying goal and their role this year: Drury (gone) Briere (gone) Zubrus (gone) Connolly (played 1/2 of the year) Teppo (played what, one game) Vanek (struggled for most of the year: Note four previously listed players)

Sad.

I fixed it for you. Money is not an on ice game changer IMO... As much as we try so hard to make it be.

Why do you know him? Give us the personal side of CD!

<_< <_<

Bullsh*t!

Again... One can point to the puke comment that Jagr made during the series about having CD on the Rangers' line up the following year... Ya, Jagr is a puke that tends to spout off... But, he spouted off the truth to be!

Again! How do you resolve that? And I am sick and tired of hearing that the Jagr comment was something like "a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then." Jagr had inside info, he accidently spouted off and when he got bagged, he played dumb (easy for him to do)... He (Jagr) is the freakin' captain, he was in the loop.

Live in the real world, it takes TWO to tango!

:wallbash: :wallbash:

Proof is in the pudding... Man, I hate to see what all you guys would do if your wife or significant other was cheating on you with your best friend... You'd make a 1,000 excuses.

That he did... Heart can still be elsewhere! Sometimes things come around nicely when you are relaxed. They hit adversity when they played OTT and the uptightness creeped back in... And with the heart somewhere else, you are a sure goner!

On that note; and to involve Briere to bring the thread back. How bout going back to the Biron/Briere handshake in MTL after the series. Do you think perhaps they really wanted to play in MTL someday, but Philly paid & MTL didnt?

And how bout Patrick Kane? Do you think his heart is in Buffalo? Sure, he'll play 100%, score goals against us, but given the chance to come here, done.

To side track a little... During the BlackHawks game this year, they did a thing on Kane here in Chicago... They said BFLO made a very big push to get him... I never really heard that before and never got an answer... Did BLFO really? And to what extent?

I am sure one of our Sabrespace "insiders" will give you a proper yarn. But, I recall before that draft perhaps Darcy asked what would it take or offered a couple first rounders. At the time Wirtz was still kicking? I thought Wirtz wanted to use the pick. My ears were burning to hear something, but not much was leaked besides Chicago wanted too much. But then again all this wouldve been weeks before the summer of 07 apocalypse.

Long story short; my guess is Chicago wanted 3 first rounders.

Only problem with that is that Montreal oferred Briere more money, but hey, don't let the facts get in the way of a good post.

Other problem, not everyone wants to play for their hometown team.

I heard from my friend that works with the Sabres the deal that was offered was one that included a package of 2 first rdrs and vanek or roy..they wanted both..Near as I can remember

I realize that; per season, not overall contract. If Gainey came back with and 8 year deal, would there be legs?

offers

MTL 6/$48

PHI 8/$58 he'll be 38 obviously. those 2 years (at 36) are a big deal at that age.

or Mrs. Briere didnt want to raise the boys in the Montreal environment, which is probably the real reason.

I'm not sure where you are getting your numbers, but Philly's deal is $52 million with the last two years being 3 and 2, thus being eligible for a two thirds buy out.

Secondly, Briere had been ripped in Montreal because he acknowledged that Montreal's offer was better but he didn't want the pressure of playing in his hometown.

All of this is public knowledge and available in any sources you prefer. No insider info necessary.

Regier mentioned something during a interview with S&B about making a inquiry if I recall correctly. Could you imagine the pressure on the kid if the Sabres gave up Vanek and Roy for his rights?

She thought Philly would be a better environment?
