inkman Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Sabres honestly didnt look like a playoff team in comparison to what we have seen so far. They would have been smoked by any team in the playoffs.

X. Benedict Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Lol, I was thinking the same thing (about Campbell.) Playoffs are definitely fun, but I felt some stress in the Flyers' game going into the third. I don't know why I want them to lose ... oh wait, yes I do. ;) I want them to lose more than I want anyone to win. And that was a beautiful loss.
X. Benedict Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 They would have been smoked by any team in the playoffs. This playoff includes Boston, Philly, Ottawa, Nashville ....I don't think smoked is the right word.
Kristian Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Terrible calls at end of Devils - Rangers game. Arms around offensive players waist no call, smash from behind . Devils have right to be angry. It's usually the Devils getting away with clutching and grabbing all season though, so it's kind of weird for me to feel sorry for them when they get a taste of it themselves.
Kristian Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Wow, I'm really enjoying this Avs game!! How fun is this? Johnsson takes a key penalty on Smyth. On the ensuing 6-on-4, Forsberg sends a pass to Liles at the blue line right in the middle of the ice. He sends a shot to the net and Smyth gets the tip to tie the game. If I haven't said it before on this message board, I will reiterate, John Michael Liles is a UFA on July 1st. Darcy, sign him!!! He's got a great shot, great at moving the puck up the ice and with guys like Vanek, Bernier, and Gaustad playing in front of the net he will get shots through and our guys can tip the puck in and score if he doesn't score with his shot. Sign him Darcy!!!! No way we get anywhere near him. We're most likely not willing to pay what he's looking for, and Buffalo's probably at the very bottom of his list of teams he would want to go to. Sure as heck wouldn't mind having him here though, but I'm pretty sure he'll price himself out of our range.

He had an absolutely terrible regular season for his standards. I can't see him going for more than $3.5 million/year, which is definitely in the Sabres price range, especially if they let go of Kalinin and most likely Max. I know the UFA market gets crazy, but he will not command Campbell and Wade Redden type money. And if not him, I certainly would not mind Darcy going after his teammate and other UFA, Jeff Finger. I thought Finger is also pretty good, highly underrated and had a really good season this year, and he'd bring a right handed shot to the blueline, which this team has none of. Either one of them would be fine in Buffalo. All I figure is that going into next year, Colorado is going to let one if not both of them go because they'll need some money to re-sign Foote and Forsberg and once Jordon Leopold is healthy and plays, one of them immediately becomes expendable. In my opinion, because of the emergence of Finger this year, Liles will be expendable and the Sabres could afford him and sign him. I just don't think he's worthy of that top tier money, especially with the season he had.
tasker48b Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 I don't know, I think we might have been able to take Ottawa! I saw the 3rd period of OTT-PIT and, boy, did Pittsburgh get alot of breakways and "guys wide open in front plays". Terrible D by Ottawa. Just horrendous. The Pens returned the favour by not covering Cody Bass in front of the net on the tying goal, but if the Sens are relying on "the big fish" to win the series they are in loads of trouble.
millbank Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Flyer may lose testicle from shot to groin Flyers left wing Patrick Thoresen was taken to the hospital for tests after getting hit in the groin by a shot during Philadelphia's 5-4 loss to Washington on Friday night. "He's going to the hospital to get an ultrasound done on his testicles. It's bad enough they may have to remove one," Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said. "Right now, we're not sure how serious it is, but there's a chance he may need surgery." yikes

Apparently, wearing a jockstrap is not enough to protect from a 100 mph slapshot. If he was not wearing a jockstrap, then he should have cause that's a major mistake. Wow, I feel bad for him.

I've seen his name mentioned 7 times to Tuesday here, but I have a hard time getting excited about his game. He can lug the puck and cough it up. This may be a bit of a slight, but he is a more polite Lydman. I would rather overpay for Roszival.

BTW SF526, as much as I'd like to see Liles quarterbacking our PP, if you can't swap (not necessarily directly) him for Lydman or Tallinder, I'd rather see them put money into another physical (preferably veteran, especially if Teppo is not back) Dman first. Both would be nice, but that's not likely.
Bmwolf21 Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Don't forget that he also had a bad give-away in the neutral-zone on the goal that put the Wild ahead less than a minute before that. (Where's the stick-out-my-tongue smiley?)Edit: am I the only one that likes that Wild's home uniforms? He did give away the puck in the neutral zone, but I wouldn't term it a "bad" giveaway - and that goal was the very definition of a soft/bad goal. Theodore absolutely has to stop that shot from there. You're not the only one who likes the Wild's uniforms, either.
GoatheadInCT Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Not the Jays, or Raptors even? . We root for who we root for, no apologies are needed or should be expected. It is a difference though many folks in Ontario will root for Bills and Sabres, while as you said most from Buffalo would never root for a Toronto team. Kind of a unequal relationship where I root for your teams , but you hate mine. Great evening of hockey anyway and it is not over yet :o Damn, I forgot about the Blue Jays... I had to root for them against the Braves back in their World Series days. I HATED the Braves back then for what they did to my Pirates. I'm a son of Quebec, so pardon me if I don't have any love for Toronto teams. :D
Kristian Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Damn, did anyone just see Detroits 1-0 goal? For a second there, I thought they were playing us! Talking about a defense standing still with their heads up their behinds.
