Taro T Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 Like I said, you can come up with reasons the others are different, but Buffalo thought enough of the five game Rochester experience to send the other three veterans there as well as the two college players they just signed. How about this for a reason to get off their arse, they have $1800 of my money there for playoffs they won't play and how about throwing me and other season ticket holders a bone and signed the players they can sign now. Well, see, that's why you should go for the 1st row of the 300's instead of the last row of the 100's. They've only got $600 of my money. ;) And you are very correct about reasons that some are different than others, but I see the 5 game experience much different for the "vets" than for the college kids. (And someone posted earlier in this thread that the 2 kids that were signed were both free agents. Assuming that's the case, there is a significant difference in the prioritization of signing a player that can sign with anyone and one that you have the rights to for ~14 more months.) If these guys aren't signed by the end of September, then I'll start to get concerned. Right now, I'm far more concerned about seeing some other guys signed prior to October, because THAT is where they have shown signs of building a poor track record.

To put a nail in this, to me its all about them proving that they are going to do something different. It wouldn't surprise me to know that their plan is to announce the signings right when deposit money is due. Larry's all about the marketing.

When they sign Miller in mid-July and Poms 1st week in August and when they bring in another D-man to fit in the top 4, they will be doing something different. (They had better do these things or I will be extremely unhappy.) That'll conveniently fit in with when deposits are due as well. ;)

I'll even accept a price increase.

I could care less about Miller anymore..Stay go doesnt matter...I would like to keep Pominville he is a nice player..Ales Max Connoly whoever we get to replace them will probably be the same type of average player at least they have experience on the team...I doubt anyone is stupid enuff to take their salaries...
Bmwolf21 Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 Can they start negotiating with/signing their RFA's now or do they have to wait until the end of the playoffs? I think Miller can't be extended until after July 1, but what about the RFA's?

tom webster Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 Not sure ..I wouldnt think they couldnt if their season is done..Their has to be some perks to being bad.... Teams have been signing RFA's all season. There is no reason to wait.

So I mention the free agency status and you just skip over it, but Taro says it and you agree? I see how things work around here. :P
That Aud Smell Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 and when they bring in another D-man to fit in the top 4 i pray this happens -- going off of some parallels drawn in another thread -- such a move could prove to be our "hamrlik signing" and put us on a recovery trajectory similar to that which the habs charted this season (i.e., going from 90 points and 10th place to 100+ points and tops in the conference after the regular season). is there another thread that talks about whom the team might target in the U-/RFA market for d-men?

Get that banana dancing again. It won't take more than a couple of good-looking offseason moves to get psyched for next year. As Aud Smell rightly points out -- look at the Habs' improvement over 1 year.

It is worth noting that Montreal tried very hard to add to their team ( Briere and Hossa), have the veteran presence we crave for Buffalo (Smolinski, Hamrlik, Brisebois, Markov, Koivu) and had a veteran player (Kovalev) enjoy a rejuvenation. Buffalo may have the veteran guy ( Max or Timmy). Now if they can add their version of the aforementioned veterans.

I tried to get over my depression(anger)..The problem was it started when Drury left not last week..I am really down on the Sabres, and the truth of the matter is I dont and willl have a hard time believing anything that comes out of their mouth..Actions speak louder than words so until there is action it doesnt matter to me...Until I see them bring in a Captain type player they are "oh well" to me....I really could care less about Pominville or Miller..They are the best players on a nonplayoff team...I want the best players on a playoff team..

Since Drury left? wow that is sad. He won't be playing here next year either.

Thats when I knew the postseason was a pipedream..Well maybe for sure when we didnt sign anyone to replace him to be honest with ya...But that still pisses me off...And until they replace those that were lost we will be watching the playoffs for a while....

Gerbe with 2 - showing tons of speed and jam. GO BC! EDIT: Gerbe with 3 - he won't see D as soft and confused as he did on #3 in the NHL, though - or in the AHL for that matter.
