He didn't run into you out for a beer one night and insult your tattoo's did he ?

No one has done that to date and I wouldn't take offense to it. I understand it's not for everyone.

I don't think they would. New ownership isn't interested in huge payroll which is one of the reasons they traded Richards.

Thats true but a goaltender is what they need...And he isnt expensive next yr.Although they did just move richards for a goalie..

Mike Smith is Tampa's guy fo sure

I think that's the way they are leaning - he had a handful of pretty good games down the stretch, and got bombed in a couple others when his team was running for the bus (running for the beach?) Either way, I don't think they'll give up on him or Ramo anytime soon.

Colby Robak Player Profile (defensemen)

One word, smooth. Great skating, great vision, and working the PP QB role well. Some have compared him as a Scott Neidermayer type although the two will never be confused. He has decent size but he's afraid to use it, needs to be more aggressive and use the body, that's his big downside, he never will, if you are looking for your physical guy he's not it, still not putting up large numbers, but the potential is definitely there. Needs to work on intensity and physicality, but the offensive instincts are there.

Tyler Cuma Player Profile (defensemen)

He is a great skater with awsome agility. Great offensive instincts from the back end, has power play QB written all over him. He can get the job done in his own end and on the PK but in no means is he a defensive expert. He is easy to knock off the puck due to his petite stature. He needs to bulk up in order to take the leap from good defenceman to great defenceman.

No thanks to either of them.

I swear...if the Sabres draft a blueliner who meets anything close to that type of description in the first 3 rounds, my head will explode.

After looking at the standings it looks more like we'll be picking around 13.

Who do you think the team is looking at? Here are some links to Central Scouting North American, and International Players.

Here are a few mock drafts online:

Mock Draft 1

Mock Draft 2

Capitals with 5 picks in the top 79? Can we work something out there? Kotalik, Kalinin or Max? I cant say anyone on their roster jumps out at me but a draft package of some sort could be interesting.

I like how one mock draft has a us taking a guy at 13 while the other one has him lasting to 41... nice ranking there.

Prospect Pulse: Joe Colborne

A towering 6-5 with a huge frame (though not yet filled out), scouts expect him to have grown significantly before the June draft. Blessed with soft hands and good straight line speed, Colborne can also play a gritty game and has impressed at each successive level with his strong work ethic.

Observers who saw him play at the recent World Junior A Challenge felt that he was a dominant skater but would have liked to see him get involved in the play a little more, as he seemed content to play a perimeter game.

Sounds a lot like Chris Gratton...

He goes 13th but this guy goes 14th:

John Carlson Player Profile

John Carlson has size, speed, skill, and a high hockey IQ. Praised for his physical assets, he isn't afraid to use them. A great two-way defenseman, has both the offensive skills and defensive shutdown abilities, logs a lot of PK minutes. Could be the next best all-around D-man behind the big 4 Doughty, Pietrangelo, Schenn, Bogosian. An extremely rounded and fast player, capable of QBing the PP. May have hurt his draft ranking due to playing in the USHL, could have gone somewhat higher. He has the ability and he will be an NHLer.

The only thing I want to read when I'm reviewing the Sabres draft picks are words like:

Mean

Nasty

Gritty

Dirty

Scary

Emotional

Player don't want to play against him

Missing lots of teeth

Doesn't like Timberlake

Don't let him date your sister

He sounded good as well. smart player. paille-esque defensemen? Aaron Ness from minnesota was another that hasnt been mentioned all over the mocks.

(one of the play-by-play guys sounds like Jack Edwards Jr.)sorry.

If the Sabres take a defenseman with the 13th pick, Carlson based on this description is just what the doctor ordered. Yes I realize anyone drafted is 2 to 4 years away from playing in the NHL, but some guys can make the jump quicker than others. Weber is a good example.

He is very young (born in 1990 - yikes, I feel old!), but playing very well against 20+ year olds.

According to Jack Barzee, USHL scout for NHL's Central Scouting:

I knew when I first saw him that he was a first-round pick ... He had all the tools - size, skill and physical presence and charisma ... Here's a kid that's a big, strapping kid. He's probably going to be 6-foot-3, 220 (pounds) before it's over. He has an intimidating shot from the point and he is good on the power play.

Sounds good to me.

I'd be happy with Tampa over LA, Long Island, Atlanta and St. Louis

Average temp is 73 degrees, girls in bikinis year-round, a Cup in the last decade, playing with Vinny and St Louis? Yeah, I could think of a lot worse places to go than the Tampa area...

I think St. Louis would be a great place to play for a young star.

McDonald, Boyes, Stempniak and an emerging defense that loves to hit.
