Corp000085 Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 7:00pm Well, I was hoping to post between 4 and 28 more GDTs before the end of the year, but it looks like this is the last one. It has been an interesting season of disapointment, turnover, and growth. Tomorrow night is a huge game for the sabres. a) its the last one of the year so they need to go out on a high note b) it will be time to see what kind of effort guys like roy, vanek, pominville, tallinder, gaustad, etc. put forth. These are the guys that grew up during the lockout and have not faced failure at the nhl level. I know its one game, but I want to see what they bring tomorrow. c) play teppo, for the love of god. I don't care if you have to sit a forward to play 7 defensemen so he can take one shift... Teppo has to play. d) I want a friggin one-sided victory. I want this team to steamroll the bruins tomorrow. It will surely piss off about everyone with a pulse in WNY, but i want this team to win a game, and win one convincingly. Long term, it won't do anything for the sting that we all feel, but it will sure make me feel happy tomorrow night. LETS GO BUFFALO!
Bmwolf21 Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 So these questions aren't asked a dozen times more: Teppo, Thibault and more WILMINGTON, Mass. -- A few of the Sabres who have watched their team fall short of the playoffs are going to get a chance to play in the final game. Coach Lindy Ruff said today that Teppo Numminen, Jocelyn Thibault, Michael Ryan and probably Andrew Peters will be in the lineup Saturday when the Sabres face Boston in the season finale. The only person who is definitely coming out is Nolan Pratt, who has a sore groin. LINK
carpandean Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 I want them to play physical. Hammer them hard. Finish strong!

LINK For all the crap that TBO has gotten this year (and rightfully so, in my opinion) I hope he gets himself a shutout. It will be nice to see all of those guys, especially Teppo. I just wish he could have done it at home once this year.
millbank Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 Who will be team in total scoring points? Jason Pominville and Derek Roy tied at 79 total points (goals and assists) going into todays game. Who will be teams leading goal scorer Thomas Vanek has 33 goals, Derek Roy 32.

I say Roy, with two goals, will pass Vanek for the goals leader spot and Pominville, with a goal and two assists (one to Roy on the PP), will take the points leader spot (and keep the assists leader spot).
Bmwolf21 Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 Apparently Ruff hasn't decided who to scratch to make room for Peters and Ryan: There was no word on who would be out of the lineup, other than defenseman Nolan Pratt. He is dealing with a groin/abdomen strain. ?We?re going to have to take a couple guys out, and that won?t hurt us at all,? Ruff said. ?I want to go out winning the game, and I want to play the guys that are playing the best in the game. I don?t want to see anybody not playing hard.?
R_Dudley Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 I want them to play physical. Hammer them hard. Finish strong! My sentiments exactly nothing dirty but set the tone for next year against a team that beat us this year on a llot of fronts. I also want to see us play like we have nothing to lose because... we don't no excuse for not leaving it all out on the ice because you boys got nothing but free time coming up........

Who will be teams leading goal scorer Thomas Vanek has 33 goals, Derek Roy 32. Roy total points ( guessing 2A tonight and a 1 goal) But Vanek in total goals (guess scores 2 goals because pressure is off) as he finally clicks on his chances..... Pominville also gets in act with 1 assist because Bflo explodes in a 6 - 3 game like we all expected to see at some point in the season against this team when it mattered.. (note Boston letdown due and sitting some players because of clinch spot has something to do with it)
R_Dudley Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 Looking at this games potential effect on standings, Bruins could end up dropping all the way to 8th spot, still think they are just happy to be there and will still have a slight let down..... Have to say I like the ECF match ups the way they are right now. Pens-Philly; Got real nasty last 2 games and will be interesting match up tomorrow, especially if Les habs wins tonight. Montreal- Ottawa; Battle of Quebec....need we say more Wash-Boston; Two pretty good defensive teams w Ovechkin edge going to Wash.. NJ-NYR; Boring deserve each other style of play fitting they play tomorrow for Home ice rights.... the rivalries and styles of play would make this an interesting first round. Now a win by Bflo and Philly shuffles this whole bottom deck...
tom webster Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 I want them to play physical. Hammer them hard. Finish strong! Personally, for the first time time in two years, I'm hoping for a loss. If I understand the draft lottery, right now they could draft from 6th to 12th place.

If I understand the draft lottery, right now they could draft from 6th to 12th place. I can understand that angle but for me I just cannot buy into losing so your better positioned for a draft choice. If they are beaten because the other team plays better fine but I would hate to see a coach or a team that played to lose so they got a better posiiton in draft...
LabattBlue Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 Buffalo 5 Boston 0. Tbo stands on his head and everyone immediately begins questioning why Lindy didn't use him down the stretch. :D I want to watch this game for one reason only...to see who plays hard when there is nothing on the line. Possible milestones... -Roy and Pominville 1 point each from 80 -Paille 1 goal to reach 20. -Stafford 2 points from 40 -Hecht 2 points from 50 GO SABRES & GO CAPITALS!!!!!!!!!!!!
shrader Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 I think I'd have multiple heart attacks if I ever had to deal with 28 post season game day threads. Those would be the happiest heart attacks ever though... except maybe the last one. But anyway, there will be more than enough of us in attendance tonight and I would hope that we're just as loud as any of the previous games here in Boston.

I'll be in attendence at the Amerks game watching to see if Clarke has removed his head from his rear end yet. But I will also be rooting for Memphis, UNC and the Sabres. The Sabres for pride, and the other two for a little $$$. Go Sabres, Go Amerks, Go Tar Heels, Go Tigers.

I believe Ottawa is technically in Ontario although it is close enough to the Quebec border where many Ottawans actually speak French like Bob Hartley. Regardless, I'll probably watch this game with a lot less intensity than I watch most games. I'll be much more in a relaxed state of mind. I do want to see the Sabres win and play hard. I want to see Teppo and Thibault play well. I'd like to see some milestones reached, specifically Roy and Pominville hitting 80 points, Vanek getting 35 goals, and Paille hitting 20 goals. That would be really nice to cap what would be considered a disappointing season with 6 20 goal scorers, two guys who hit 80 points and our leading goal scorer with 35 goals.
Chief Enabler Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 I did have this game on my calendar and the tickets were decent but over the last 2-3 weeks I figured not worth the trip. It's a beautiful sunset today, moving on to the summer..... :(
Bmwolf21 Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 Tonight's scratches, per John Vogl/News' Sabres Edge blog: Nolan Pratt, Drew Stafford, Patick Kaleta, Nathan Paetsch and Dmitri Kalinin. Wow. Stafford and Kaleta? Not Vanek or Max?

wjag Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 Capitals have a 1- 0 lead... Come out Caps, knock out Carolina..
Bmwolf21 Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 Wow, a 0-0 game at the first intermission. What a shocker.
SabresFan526 Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 There is no intensity in this game from either team. Not incredibly surprising that there is nothing on the line. Having said that, Thibault has played very well so far. Also, I'm so happy to see Teppo playing a game. I'd rather pair him with Spacek and have Tallinder-Lydman and Sekera-Weber. Teppo's played pretty well, no major mistakes, done a good job of clearing pucks and has blocked a few shots. I'm happy he's playing tonight. Wish he played more of the season. I think we would have had fewer turnovers in the defensive zone that directly led to goals on Miller if Teppo played more of the season.

Neither goalie has been really tested that much - most of T-bo's shots were from the perimeter (but that kick save in close was pretty sweet) and the defense has been a little more settled tonight. Surprised to not see more intensity from Boston, though. I think Teppo would have been a huge help to the d-corps this season and might have helped hold down some of the Sabres' patented jailbreak defense - a couple 2-on-1's, a couple breakaways and a handful of 3-on-2's per game.
