bob_sauve28 Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/sabresnh...ory/313461.html That's good news, though I think that pesky Sakara has looked great on the PP too! Is Sakara a dream? Where did this slick skating, deft puck handling guy come from? Wow, he is awesome. I just love watching him skate. And to think he will get better! Makes me say: Brian who?

SabresFan526 Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 It looks like the blueline is getting healthier. Lindy has said that Sekera and Weber will not be taken out of the lineup, which to me means, they are locked in for two roster spots next year and will be in the top 6. They both have been solid and I've been very happy with their play, and they play really well together, so you can't take them out and you shouldn't split them up either. There's no question that you have to play Spacek if he's healthy because he's got a great shot on the PP and has been our best defenseman this year. Apparently, Teppo is also healthy enough to play as well, so who sits? The only guys in contention for getting scratched as I see it are Pratt and Paetsch, even though Tallinder and Lydman should get consideration given how they have played this year. But, I would not mind seeing Spacek and Teppo playing together as third pairing and on the PP. You never want to mess with the chemistry as this team has clawed its way back into the thick of things in the last few weeks, but you have to play Spacek, and it'd be nice to see what Teppo can bring. My hunch is Teppo only plays once we are completely out of it. And if Boston and Philly win tonight, I see no reason why Teppo should not play tomorrow night in Montreal.

I knew he could skate. It is nice to see he has an accurate shot.
deluca67 Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 At least you remember how to spell Brian Shouldn't that be "remembered"?
bob_sauve28 Posted April 2, 2008 Author Report Posted April 2, 2008 I knew he could skate. It is nice to see he has an accurate shot. Does he remind you of any other player? He seems so unique to me. And ya, nice to see he can shoot so well. The guy is full of surprises. Great shot on Vanek's goal last night. I agree with what you were saying about Patsche awhile back.
tom webster Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 Shouldn't that be "remembered"? I'm pretty sure he still does, but then Inkman can attest to my grammatical shortcomings
frisky Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 I think it's time for a pop quiz in spelling. Books aways. Only pens and pencils on the desk. I'm going to guess either Pratt or Paestch. I'll lean toward Pratt coming out though since Spock is also a big body and can be physical when he wants to. I hope he can improve that powerplay that has been so sad looking.
BuffalOhio Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 My guess is that Paetsch moves to wing, Teppo and Spock both play, and Paetsch moves back to D if Teppo can't go the whole game or looks really bad. No idea which forward sits.

I don't know, I'm just glad they didn't bring up that Sekera kid that people complained about earlier this year when he came up from Rochester.

TM8-PL16 Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 i think you sit Pratt and Paetsch. Play Spacek and Teppo... Pratt and Paetsch don't really bring anything spectacular to the lineup so you really aren't missing much and you may give Miller and others a "shot in the arm" with Teppo back there. Like said above though, Spacek plays if he is healthy, he really has played well this year!

carpandean Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 I don't know, I'm just glad they didn't bring up that Sekera kid that people complained about earlier this year when he came up from Rochester. I believe that he and Weber played as the top pair together in Rochester between the two call-ups and it seems to have helped them both develop. He still had good moment during the first call-up, but also had a few more rookie moments. The mix of moments has defenitely shifted for the better in this second call-up.

I said before David Tanabe with a brain, but I have upgraded him to Igor Kravchuk without the turnovers.

I'm not complaining about Sekera and weber, they have played well considering they started the year in the AHL, and are playing better then the defencemen currently on the team (although there are very few defencemen right now that could play worse. My comment is more about the hot pocket mentality of the fans here. At first Sekera sucked and fans were afraid of him coming up, there was MacArthur who everyone wanted "the general" to stay up and now he is tradable, Connolly for years was considered trash, Pratt was considered a great upgrade when he first signed, everytime you turn around someone is going from trash to a star, or the other way around.
Hawerchuk Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 I think Kalinin's time with BUF is at an end. Guy is so unpredictable every night.
awill29 Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 I think Kalinin's time with BUF is at an end. Guy is so unpredictable every night. He hasn't played in a while. If I had my way, I'd sit Tallydman. Put Spock-Teppo as #2 for now, and let Sekera and Weber be #1. Pratt and Paetsch stay at three. But we all know Lindy won't do that. It'll prolly be Pratt and Paetsch that sit for Spacek and Teppo.
