Mike Oxhurtz Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Instead of this being a fireworks question. How does everyone spend their 4th of July? Parties, cookouts, where they watch fireworks (if not blowing off their own), ...etc?
inkman Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Please tell me the allure of endangering your own welfar as well as your loved ones?
Mike Oxhurtz Posted March 31, 2008 Author Report Posted March 31, 2008 Please tell me the allure of endangering your own welfar as well as your loved ones? I've been blowing off fireworks since I was a kid. Trust me, I'm very safety conscious. I'm not the type that lights fireworks off in my hands, or blows off a 1/2 stick of dynamite. I always bring a fire extinguisher, and have water by me. I make sure that I have plenty of distance from the fireworks, and people watching. Plus, I cover my fireworks in a tarp, so no errant fireworks or anything else hits them and causes all of them to explode. With that said, anyone know of any good areas?
BuffalOhio Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 What a waste of money for some lame-ass fireworks. Go find a good fireworks show, take some chairs and some mosquito repellant, a few beers and your girl/kids/family, and have a nice night. My wife and I go to Fort Belvoir here in DC, and the fireworks are outstanding. Then I see all these douches lighting off their lame-ass displays and getting excited about it. "Oooohhhhh. Look, a sparkly fountain and a bottle rocket. Oooooh." Lame.
inkman Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 "Oooohhhhh. Look, a sparkly fountain and a bottle rocket. Oooooh." Lame. I'm guessing 'My Hurts' was hoping this thread would go in a different direction. B-)

As for going to DC or Fort Belvoir for the 4th, the firework show on the 3rd of July in Blasdell blows away the DC show. I've went to DC and also went to Belvoir, and I wasn't impressed. Disneyworld puts on a better display for a non-holiday/event.

SwampD Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Nevermind! You know why people blow off fireworks? Because it's fun!! To quote Led Zepplin,"Does anybody remember laughter?" Don't listen to these wet blankets, Cocksy. They are probably the same folk riding PWC's which I find equally as annoying and likely more dangerous,...and just as much fun. I'm just sorry I don't know anywhere for you to go.
Mike Oxhurtz Posted March 31, 2008 Author Report Posted March 31, 2008 You give up to easy! I changed the question on top.
wonderbread Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 I changed the question on top. I grab a few lawnchairs and walk about 20 yards bhind my house and watch them set off a great show at the park/high school here in Mt. Lebanon. They put on a great show and I don't have to fight traffic!

I'm just sorry I don't know anywhere for you to go. It's ok! Blowing off fireworks is a blast. I quit buying the cheesy assortments years ago. A few of us chip in every year, and buy a bunch of stuff (as close to professional as we can get). I usually go to Phantom Fireworks in Warfordsburg, PA (right when you cross from MD to PA on I-70). Unfortunately, there are a lot of idiots out there that are reckless and don't know what they are doing (like sticking their head directly over the fireworks when they are lighting it, etc...) 4th of July is my favorite time in the summer. I drive up to Buffalo every year for the 4th. On the 3rd, we go to the Fireman's Park on Lake Ave in Blasdell for their firework display. On the 4th, we have a cook-out & party at my friends house, then blow off fireworks.

Belvoir to watch fireworks. Do you know where North Braddock is? My friend Dennis used to live there before he went in the military.

They are illegal to ignite in NYS... No? Sure, I hate the law too. Maybe go on a boat and sit in the middle of the Niagara river or Lake Erie? Then again, no... You may have the US/C CG wanting to render assistance thinking you are shooting off a pyrotechnic emergency flare/fusee...

Last year, after the Blasdell P.D. came by, we packed up and went to W. Seneca (to a relative of my friends). The cops drove by us in W. Seneca, but didn't say anything. My friends Aunt & Uncle moved, so know we have to find a new location. Speaking of states that sell fireworks, PA sells fireworks, but you can't buy fireworks in PA if you're a PA resident...I don't get that?!

PLEASE do not shoot fireworks from your boat. It will be seen, it will be reported as a flare sighting, and we will be forced to treat it as such and waste taxpayer dollars looking for someone that's not in distress. Please do not do this.

BuffalOhio Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Nice boat!!! I'm in Lorton. We'll have to take you out and beat you up on the water sometime, Coxy!
