Bmwolf21 Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 Jim Thome is one of my favorite players of all time. Indians have to hope that the good Sabathia comes back for the next start. But you have to like a 7 run inning. Phillies putting together a spirited comeback. I'm hoping they can finish the job. I'm less concerned about CC - it was really two swings from Thome that did almost all the damage to CC's start - but more concerned with the bullpen picking up right where they left off in last year's ALCS. I know it's early but it didn't seem like anyone had anything going for a while. And Joe Borowski is going to be the death of me this year - I can feel it in my bones.
VABeachSabresFanatic Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 The AL Central race should be interesting, although I agree with most commentators that the Tigers might not be able to stay healthy enough to compete with the Tribe. I don't see Seattle scoring enough runs to keep pace with Anaheim, but they might be able to win enough games to compete for the wildcard. In the East, the interesting thing will be whether the Jays (my favorite team) can keep up last year's stellar pitching performance while scoring more runs with a healthier lineup. I think they will stay in the race longer this season than they have in the past, but it will be tough for them to put together 6 months of playoff-level baseball. I say Boston beats the Mets in the World Series as payback for the '86 Bill Buckner Series.

Thome has always been one of my favorites, going back to his days patrolling 3B and then 1B for the Tribe. Interesting stat - going into yesterday he was 0-11 with 7 K's vs. Sabathia lifetime. Talk about breaking out in a big way...
Ohiofan Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 Very manic depressive life. Tribe WINS! Yeah! Great game, opening day. Very happy. Rangers win. Crap. Drury, of course. Not so happy. Sabres vs. Toronto to keep hope alive...? NEED some happy.
