apuszczalowski Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 sorry i should have been more clear, that was totally all sarcasm No, I got that, I was just making a point how at one point, people thought he was captain material because he was so vocal
LabattBlue Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 I hope you have kids...otherwise I've got some questions for you. My daughter is 13 and all I hear 24x7 is Jonas Brothers, blah, blah, blah :)
MarkAF43 Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 No, I got that, I was just making a point how at one point, people thought he was captain material because he was so vocal i still think he would be good at it
tom webster Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 My daughter is 13 and all I hear 24x7 is Jonas Brothers, blah, blah, blah :) Yeah, my wife called the other day and asked me to pick up tickets for my 7 year old for the concert at Darien Lake. She almost died when I told her lawn seats were going for $80 each. On another note, I was at a benefit with Ryan Miller last year and the girl who the benefit was for requested Peter Gabriel's "in your eyes." Ryan went running out of there like a scared school girl.
X. Benedict Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 Yeah, my wife called the other day and asked me to pick up tickets for my 7 year old for the concert at Darien Lake. Was it played from 60 ft. away? He had no chance.
tom webster Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 Was it played from 60 ft. away? He had no chance. No but they had one of those tee shirt cannons, drilled him right between the eyes, well not right between kind of like at a 30 degree angle between one and a 45 degree angle on the other

Wow, tack on the "convenience charges" and venue fees too I just bought 2 lawn seats to the Dave Matthews Band the day before my birthday there and it cost me $2 less then 1 ticket to a show where in about 5 years, your kids faces will go red and you can embarrass the hell out of them by just saying "Remember when we went to that Jonas Brothers concert?" Don't believe it will happen, just ask someone with a couple of older kids about Hanson.

Now I am stuck home with a sick 7 year old watching 24 hours of Hannah Montana and the Suite Life. Had to stop her from watching Zoey 101 because I was feeling a little dirty watching Brittney's sister. I may never complain about pain in the .... employees again.
BuffalOhio Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 I'd bet some of that equipment is pretty rank at this point in the season...maybe he uses a lot of Freddie FreshPucks... The Capitals have an equipment sanitizing system that they use to prevent mold/mildew/bacteria growth. Hopefully, the Sabres learned after the McKee staph infection of 06 that they should get a system like that. I know about the Caps system because a friend of mine offered it up to our team to use. You just give them your whole bag of gear and they put it in the machine and it's somehow sanitized. I guess it really works. I didn't try it. I air my equipment out every time I skate. The only thing that I have that really stinks are my referee shinpads. Shrader should chime in here real soon now....I said referee and stinks in the same sentence......

Done Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 You're right....horrible theory. I should have just stuck with my assumption that he looks that way because of all the squinting he would do after Campbell would blow a load in his face.
X. Benedict Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 You're right....horrible theory. Having fun with it doesn't mean it's horrible.
tom webster Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 Having fun with it doesn't mean it's horrible. Like X said, you obviously put a lot of thought and effort into your theory, far be it from me to dismiss it. Most great inventions are by-products of what was really intended. In this case, your theory has led to some light hearted dialogue which isn't a bad alternative to some of the threads around here.

X is pretty sharp and doesn't agree with me very often, so it's nice to see he's not scoffing. It just seems as if all the early dismissal was a direct product of laziness. People spend hours a week talking about the Sabres, yet there is the realistic possibility that the team's "best" player may have a condition that would affect his performance, but it gets laughed off. My read on Miller in general is that most people think he's good, but too many are "wishing" him into the elite category. This year has taken some of the luster away...at least for objective followers of the team. Miller is usually a sound technician, but he has always had a quirkiness to him. Why does it seem he gets caught napping at the end of a period or at the start of the game? Why is focus so important, and why must he have to be in "his personal zone" to play well? Goalies in general are wired a little different, but Miller is a smart and thoughtful guy off of the ice. There has to be another variable that isn't out in the open. I used to think it had more to do with his personal life, and that still may be an issue, but there is something just off a little bit. Like when you've had a car for 5+ years and when you take it out one day you feel something isn't right, but the car is still running fine. Sooner or later your gut instinct is correct...you just have to wait for the problem to get big enough for the car to show obvious symptoms. That's how I've always felt about Miller, and connecting the dots with his eyes sort of makes me feel like I have found it. Who knows....it's easy for me to rip on a guy like Connolly or Tallinder who I don't have any respect for. I respect Miller and want him to be successful. Trust me, I will not work as hard researching if lanky Sweedish men have a propensity for osteoperosis and multiple fractures.
Jeff Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 It seems he always gets beat high and to the glove side...
Done Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 It seems he always gets beat high and to the glove side... Everyone Humor Me! Millervision!
inkman Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 I should have just stuck with my assumption that he looks that way because of all the squinting he would do after Campbell would blow a load in his face. I always wondered why Campbell's nickname was bukaki...
Knightrider Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 Take a protractor to that and see what you have. All I did was draw a 180 degree line with microsoft paint. It's as clear as day that it's not from his head tilting or else his eye would be on an angle. Is everyone so lazy or in their own blissfully ignorant world that they don't see this can be a problem? This isn't some subjective thing like "Miller's in the closet so he lets in soft goals." That may be true as well, but I don't have a picture of that one....unless Soupy left some polaroids behind on his way to California. I used Paint Shop Pro Version 7. Where his eyes are on his face matters very little. That they are looking in the same direction does matter. For example, Marty head is cocked, to. Straightening the head, you get: His eyes are still screwy. Miller's are both looking in the same direction.
ExiledInIllinois Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 Everyone Humor Me!Millervision! I agree with you... Then again... I am a quack! :D No, really... I agree!
Done Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 Knight...what can I say, but I am no computer pro! For as much time as I'm on it, I should know how to photoshop. Anyone remember the Joe Ferguson rumors that he was color blind and that's why the Bills painted their helmets red? That was me!! I figure I need to take down a soft spoken, slightly above average Buffalo athlete every 25 years or so by rumormongering their vision!!

BuffalOhio Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 Everyone Humor Me!Millervision! I stopped at centering my nose over the browneye. I think I'll take a pass on that, thanks.
spndnchz Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 I always wondered why Campbell's nickname was bukaki... Soupy: "Hey Ryan, do you want to go engage in a 100 man bukaki session? Good. Don't bother having dinner tonight alright? Oh, and don't bother going to the spa for a facial today either. You will receive both courtesy of the city fire department's entire staff tonight at the firehall. Oh, and don't wear anything nice. We'll just throw your clothes straight in the garbage when we're finished." So that's why they called him Soupy

Also considering that all the other teams (BAL, MIA, NYJ, and NE*) in the AFC East division had white helmets also!
