carpandean Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 Build an arena next to the Casino and call them the Native Americans instead of the Rochester Americans Shouldn't that be Chicago's farm team? ;)
Fighting Chicken Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 What perception? I agreed the building was empty, but only on Wednesday and Sunday games. But like I said, that is the case for virtually every AHL team. Just the way the league works, it's a weekend league. The Amerks weekend attendance was still pretty solid and better than most of the league, so the sky is not falling in Rochester. Last time I checked, Sunday was a weekend day. If a team can't draw a crowd on a Sunday evening, it's not a good thing.
Amerks6 Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 Last time I checked, Sunday was a weekend day. If a team can't draw a crowd on a Sunday evening, it's not a good thing. It's a school night, therefore the families generally don't show up. The AHL depends on groups and families and they show up on Fridays and Saturdays. Sundays are usually only season ticket holders and a small walk up. Go back yourself and look at Sunday attendance around the league. It's not good at all. The Amerks attendance isn't an issue at all.
