Claude_Verret Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Tuesday. My faith is connected by a hair, I am completely indefferent to the Sabre at this point. I hope they realize this at some point and try to reconnect with their fan base. I am bitter because I believed in them; the players, the coaches, the management and they have rewarded my diligence with a giant pile of puke. Well said. Tuesday was the first game this year I did not watch at least some of. Tonight will be the same. The weather is turning too nice down here to waste an evening inside watching these gutless wonders.
2ForTripping Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 I'll continue to watch... much to my wife's dismay. She has finally given me a foam brick to toss at the tv during the games, her continual , "you are going to have a stroke" and "I guess you'll have no voice tomorrow AGAIN" will not deter me from clinging on to even the faintest ray of hope. Even though she ribs me about the games I have on more than one ocassion heard her yelling at the tv as well during some of the "games" the Sabres have played somethibng along the lines of " I'm a girl and I'm tougher than fill in the blank, the blank could be one of many with the soft performances this year. But I am a Sabres fan thick and thin hopefully this anorexic year will be followed by a year of fattening up and playing hockey the way they can. C'mon boys.
Bmwolf21 Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Alright boys, I'm out. Hopefully it will be a good game, but I don't know anymore. I'll have the game on in the background but have a busy night ahead of me, so I'll check in somewhere after the first or maybe at the second intermission. [insert motivational Sabres rally cry here.]
carpandean Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 I actually thought that the worst effort they put forth in the last three games was against Tampa, which they actually won. They came out flat and scared, got way behind and then showed up just long enough to win. Tuesday's game was the opposite. Came out strong (or at least not so weak), eventually got ahead and then stunk for just long enough to lose. Against the Leafs, it was a good effort, but they just couldn't buy a break. I didn't get to watch Tuesday's game on Tuesday because I was teaching. So, I read all of the postings here and then watched the replay on MSG at noon on Wednesday (I'm teaching tonight, so I will probably watch the game tomorrow at noon). I was really surprised by what I saw. The first was ok, the second was great and the first half of the third made me think that they were going to win (even though I knew that they wouldn't, I still felt excited that they would; weird, eh?) Then, it unraveled. Even then, though, it was a few key mental lapses that caused each goal. They still looked like they were playing hard, but the mistakes came at bad times and the Sen capitalized on every single one. It sucked, but it wasn't as bad of a game by the Sabres as it sounded like here. I really hope that it pissed them off and that the come out firing. We shall see. We really do have a decent chance (especially of taking Boston out) if they can win out the season (I know that's a huge "if"). Every game they lose, though, greatly decreases those odds.
ofiba Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Come on boys, pull yourselves together! We are still in this thing. Never give up. We can get it done, we can get it done. What's more, we GOTTA get it done!
tasker48b Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Its time to bring out the 'ole "must win game" cliche ... except in this case it may be pretty close to being literally true. Trailing WAS by 3 pts and the Bruins by 5 and having to pass them both the Sabres are close to being out of lives.
Team Strike Force Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 I'd like to watch, but my head is still in the oven from Tuesday. The Sabres heads are also in some dark place, too. I'm trying to believe that they'll win tonight, but all I keep hearing is that Sens goal horn in my mind. And even if they win, will they win tomorrow against Montreal? I'm not so sure. Not the back-to-back Buffalo needs to right the ship, at this time.
nucci Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Come on boys, pull yourselves together! We are still in this thing. Never give up. We can get it done, we can get it done. What's more, we GOTTA get it done! Thanks, Lou!!
gregkash Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 actually, we need to worry about our play before help even matters
wonderbread Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Its nice to see us hitting instead of being hit!
Corp000085 Posted March 27, 2008 Author Report Posted March 27, 2008 so far so good. 6 minutes in and its 0-0. weber had a huge hit on volchenkov (maybe?) couple good shots for both teams, and as i write, its a kaleta/neil/mair skirmish in front of the net. The sabres are showing a little bit of fight as of right now. I think if they were shellshocked, they'd have already given up a goal or been blown off the ice.
wjag Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Played six minutes and only 3 shots on goals combined for both teams..
awill29 Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Weber's having himself a nice start. Lays a gigantic hit, then comes up with a big shot block. Keep it up, kid.
wonderbread Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 1-0 sens on a breakaway miller short side.
wjag Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 4 on 4 Spezza two on one and sneaks it five hole Weber fell down leaving the defense bare Buffalo: Ottawa:
Corp000085 Posted March 27, 2008 Author Report Posted March 27, 2008 1-0 ottawa. spezza took advantage of a wiffed point shot. It was one of those shots where miller probably should have had it, however he was hung out to dry.
wjag Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Max gets one back on a turnover Buffalo:  Ottawa:
Corp000085 Posted March 27, 2008 Author Report Posted March 27, 2008 MAXIM!!!! Great goal by afinogenov, set up by roy's point shot and mair's steal of the clearing attempt.
wjag Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Great answering goal.. We're gonna win tonight.. So it be written, so it be done....
Bmwolf21 Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 1-0 ottawa. spezza took advantage of a wiffed point shot. It was one of those shots where miller probably should have had it, however he was hung out to dry. That one was tough to watch - I'd really like to see Ryan stop that one. That being said - another frigging odd-man rush. At least it was the result of a kid pinching and falling down rather than a Lydman/Kalinin/Max special. Also nice to see us hitting regularly. BTW, who was that guy who scored for us? I don't recall a 61 on the Sabres' roster this year...
