Much much much better period - more desperation, better legs, better scoring chances, no defensive breakdowns.

If our PP could bang in a goal or two here and there we'd be in a lot better situation right now.

We don't have a PP...

We don't have a PP...

It's disgusting. Looking at the numbers, our PP is 7-53 (13%) in March. Last two-PPG game was Feb 29 against Montreal.

Was it you that pointed out how though we score goals in bunches, we only do it certain games? Tonight being a good example...so far

Can't believe it got to 11:30 on Game Day with no GDT started, so I guess I'll step up to the plate. As such, I accept no responsibility for any Sabres' GDT jinx.

Welcome to the 30 goal club, Derek Roy. Great play by Roy on the goal, awesome moves. Excellent period. Now, we have got to play that third period like we played the second period. That simple. We play like we did in the second in the third, I like our chances tonight. No big defensive zone breakdowns, and very good scoring chances. We need to get that early goal in the third, and start taking control. Let's keep up the momentum.

Yep. It was nice to see the D&C do a piece about the same thing (you're welcome, Bob Mathews) before Friday's Toronto game:

Not many people could have thought the Buffalo Sabres would lead the NHL in scoring this season after losing Chris Drury, Daniel Briere and offensive-minded defenseman Brian Campbell.

But the Sabres have scored 20 goals in their last three games (all victories) and entered Thursday night leading the NHL in scoring with 3.14 goals per game, followed by Ottawa (3.12) and Montreal (3.09). That's the good news.

The bad news is that 66 of those goals came in nine games (7.33-goal average). In the other 65 games, the Sabres averaged 2.58 goals.

Buffalo has been a streaky team all season ? in terms of wins and losses and in scoring goals.

Five Sabres have topped 20 goals (Thomas Vanek 31, Derek Roy 29, Jason Pominville 26, Ales Kotalik 22 and Jochen Hecht 21). Daniel Paille has 18 goals.

This game is ours. Ottawa is tired. It is starting to show up. Someone wanted a 2-1 game. This is it. And one big fight to set the stage for Thursday night. Hope someone shows these guys the Boston score. No let up.. No let up..

No worries, KR - I've got your back.

We shouldnt traded Campbell.. :nana:

That was a Gretzky-esque setup I gave you there. All you had to do was tap it in the open net.

Interesting. Hopefully as they mature that scoring will get spread out more

One would hope so. They obviously have the firepower to fill the net, so what's the answer? Is it mental? Maturity? Overconfidence?

Agreed - this game is ours for the taking. 20 minutes of hard work, no brain farts and we should get two points. Come out lazy and expect it to happen without the effort and we'll be closer to playoff elimination.

getting shots through is key.

Are you talking about tonight or the PP woes?
