inkman Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Van Halen (DLR era) Thank you. The entire Van Hagar era should be forgotten.
Mike Oxhurtz Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 I'm trying not to rip on anyone's tastes in here, but I just don't get Dropkick Murphys at all. The music is really catchy, but then the "singing" ruins it. All that guy does is scream. That's how I feel about Led Zepplin, their music is phenomenal, but I just can't stand Robert Plant's voice. I feel the same way about Rush.
inkman Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 I feel the same way about Rush. That chick is pretty good.
Mike Oxhurtz Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Thank you. The entire Van Hagar era should be forgotten. I agree, they should have changed the name of the band when Hagar took over. I saw the VH reunion show this past November when they came to DC. It was an awesome show, I'm so glad that I finally got to see the real VH live.
inkman Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 I saw the VH reunion show this past November... Did they stick to pre-Hagar era stuff or did they delve into any of the sissy crap?
Mike Oxhurtz Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Did they stick to pre-Hagar era stuff or did they delve into any of the sissy crap? They did a chronological set of songs through all their pre-Hagar albums. I think they did a total of 24 songs. All the VH songs that are played on the radio (pre-hagar era), except for Drop Dead legs, they played. They ended with Jump.
Claude Balls Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Thank you. The entire Van Hagar era should be forgotten. Did you see them at Silver Stadium with BTO and Kim Mitchell? I was so waysted on Genny and shrooms that day I really don't remember Kim Mitchell. But VH was so late coming out I had finally started to sober up from the shrooms enough to remember them.

Great pic of Catherine Bell!!! I used to have that on my screensaver a few years ago.
Claude Balls Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Great pic of Catherine Bell!!! I used to have that on my screensaver a few years ago. I like the little taste of thong that pic shows.
Mike Oxhurtz Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 I like the little taste of thong that pic shows. Yes, I completely agree!!! That pic shows the best of her.
X. Benedict Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 That's how I feel about Led Zepplin, their music is phenomenal, but I just can't stand Robert Plant's voice. I feel the same way about Rush. What!!!!? I won't tell Geddy you said this.
Mike Oxhurtz Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 What!!!!? I won't tell Geddy you said this. Ok, thanks!!! The only song I like from Rush is "Working man". The guitar work in that song is awesome.
Claude Balls Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Ok, thanks!!! The only song I like from Rush is "Working man". The guitar work in that song is awesome. Isn't that the only song Alex Lifeson ever used a distortion pedal on. :P
shrader Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 A Neil Peart drum solo is worth the price of admission for a Rush show.
Mike Oxhurtz Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Isn't that the only song Alex Lifeson ever used a distortion pedal on. :P I'm not sure? But whatever he used, it sounded great.

I was there as a matter of fact. I don't think I was old enough to drink legally and while I liked the show, I never bought into the Van Hagar experience.

I don't think I was old enough to drink legally and while I liked the show, I never bought into the Van Hagar experience. I did see Van Hagar back in 91' at the Aud. I mainly went to see Alice in Chains. Hagar totally screwed up the DLR era songs.
Goodfella25 Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 A Neil Peart drum solo is worth the price of admission for a Rush show. Oh my God, there is no F@%$ing drummer better than Neal Peart! --Chester Cheetah
wjag Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Oh my God, there is no F@%$ing drummer better than Neal Peart!--Chester Cheetah Love that Avatar... Those are the biggest hands I have ever seen. What would they say on Seinfeld, those are man hands...
Goodfella25 Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Thanks...some big time MS Paint skills went into that one! Yea Teppo has man-hands...I guess that makes sense though.
stenbaro Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 ALICE IN Chains end of the story for me.. RIP Layne
inkman Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 ALICE IN Chains end of the story for me.. RIP Layne I forgot to include them on my list.
Mike Oxhurtz Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 I forgot to include them on my list. Same here. I'm glad I got to see Layne w/AIC 3 times in the early 90's.
Claude Balls Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 I was there as a matter of fact. I don't think I was old enough to drink legally and while I liked the show, I never bought into the Van Hagar experience. Me neither, but I had no problem buying it. I think I was around 16. I wasn't big on Hagar with them either. Their music went right down the crapper when he came on board.
Ohiofan Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Okay, I'll weigh in, although I am probably one of the oldest people on this board. Most of you seem like very young men with a lot of testosterone...not that there's anything wrong with that! I'm just an old broad who remembers that first spin of the wheel that gave us Gilbert all those many years ago. :) I love music, all kinds. I have bands for every mood on my Ipod, and from almost every era. A lot of clssical music, Sinatra, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, REM...Bush, Staind, and Zep. And even some Dropkick Murphys. Oh and some Doors and Janis. But my all-time fave I guess would have to be GENESIS - Peter Gabriel only. Loved Phil Collins as a drummer, not as a frontman. So I don't lisen to much past the Lamb Lies Down.
