stuhast41 Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Torts just lit the opposing locker room on fire.
Knightrider Posted March 20, 2008 Author Report Posted March 20, 2008 I'm officially jumping off the Vanek wagon. I have stuck by him all season, even though I never really liked much about his game. When he isn't scoring goals he is completely useless. I hate the way he skates, I hate the faces he makes, I hate his attitude with reporters, I hate his number, I hate the fact that he will be a Sabre when I am in my 40's, I hate the fact that he makes the most money on the team, I hate Thomas #%^$#!ing Vanek. You sure about that? Edit: You might have read something like this...
ROC Sabres Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Hope ur done complaining Fla. Happy Bday.
Wraith Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Am I only one who thought the Sabres didn't play that poorly in the first period? Miller let in the first two shots he faced, which was bad, but the Sabres generated a lot of scoring chances they just couldn't bury. The second period sucked, but not the first. P.S. - Silvester just said the Sabres have 134 goals this season from guys 25 years old or younger, by far the most in the league. The future looks bright!
carpandean Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 What Lindy really said during the break!
Derrico Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 The season ends at the hands of the Tampa Bay Lightning. EAT MOTHER F%&$ING AND CROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LET'S GO BUFFALO!!!!!!!!
mrjsbu96 Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 are they serving up big plates of crow in here - me included after writing them off after 2 periods wow....can't wait to be back in buff on a friday night vs leafs!
Derrico Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 P.S no and lol......wow what a comeback........
Bmwolf21 Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Game thoughts: --Wow, what a difference an intermission makes. They looked tentative and slow through the first 40 minutes, making bad decisions with the puck and bad decisions in the defensive end, then kick it into gear in the 3rd period and blow past a stunned Lightning team. Unreal. As matter pointed out, the third-period Sabres can hang with and beat anyone in the league; the Sabres of the first 40 minutes deserve to be golfing coming April. --Vanek - is he back? If this game springboards his confidence and makes him work a littler harder and he gets hot down the stretch, this team will be very tough to beat. --Pominville - yawn - another game, another multi-point night. 2-5-7 in his last five games. Playing big in clutch situations. What more can you ask of him? Lindy, make it official - have them sew that C on permanently, please. --Weird to say this in a game where he lets in four goals, but Miller made some big stops tonight and didn't play bad. He didn't play great, but he did enough to get the win, including a couple big stops in the third - one on the doorstep early in the period when it was still 4-1, and one on St. Louis late in the game. --All in all it was a huge win, and we stole a huge pair of points after a very shaky start, but we need them and we'll take them.
Claude_Verret Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 A good point just made on the post game show was Miller stopping St. Louis on that breakaway at the end of the second. If he scores there to make it 5-1 this likely doesn't happen.
Derrico Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 are they serving up big plates of crow in here - me included after writing them off after 2 periods wow....can't wait to be back in buff on a friday night vs leafs! Whoever is going to the game on friday, make sure you give these guys a standing ovation (sp?) during the warmups to let these guys know that we're behind them.
Bmwolf21 Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Torts just lit the opposing locker room on fire.
Doohicksie Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 What did Lindy put in the Gatorade???? I think he just left the locker room doors open and let the team hear the boos of the faithful. A little shame can do wonders. My brother and sis-in-law were at the game; I spoke to them after some of the goals. It was pandemonium.
SabresFan526 Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never ever ever seen anything like this. I thought the Toronto game from last year was the most exciting game I had ever seen. Not even close. I still can't believe what I witnessed tonight. The Sabres come in down 4-1. That's a 3 goal deficit. They tie it up in under 10 minutes and then score another 3 on top of that. I'm just thoroughly impressed. I thought last year's team with all of their comebacks had so much heart, but this year's team has a lot of heart too, or maybe their heart only shows up when they play Tampa as this is the third time this year they have comeback to beat Tampa. So, who wants to count with me? We've got two in the 30 goal club - Vanek and Roy after tonight. Now we have 5 guys in the 20 goal club - Vanek, Roy, Pominville, Kotalik and welcome Jochen Hecht to the 20 goal club with his first 20 goal campaign of his career. You guys want to talk about contracts that will be a steal? Roy's for sure, but Hecht's as well. Must win game, yet another two points. The offense has absolutely exploded. These guys are making it extremely difficult for Lindy to insert Connolly and Teppo into the lineup. But, the first 40 minutes of this game were absolutely awful. Horrendous hockey. I was ready for Max to be a healthy scratch against Toronto, and I'm still not against it either with the way he played tonight. Vanek was a bust tonight until he scored 2 in the third and got to the 30 goal plateau. I also did not like the way the defenseman played in turning the puck over left and right and I really thought Miller should have made some bigger saves, especially on Halpern's goal. But, then the Sabres decided to show up in the 3rd and just steamroll the Lightning. I'm not sure they knew what hit them. Now, we need to carry this momentum over and continue the onslaught against Toronto on Friday. Every game is a must win game from here on out. Chicago's doing us a favor so far, now we need to do our part and that's win our games. Great win.
DR HOLLIDAY Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Torts just lit the opposing locker room on fire. LOL, probably true.
Corp000085 Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 wow, not to make this an ot thread or anything, but there was a josh mora sighting on the chicago broadcast. he was behind a paper cutout of a tony esposito goalie mask.
carpandean Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Got to have faith Boys, a four goal period and a 5 - 4 win lets go..... Great call ... but we're still not letting your boys off on Friday! ;)
wnyguy Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 I guess someone failed to tell the Sabres the game was over after 2 periods,
DR HOLLIDAY Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 I think he just left the locker room doors open and let the team hear the boos of the faithful. A little shame can do wonders. Thank God for the power of shame............
repster Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 One. Two. We need three! Thank-you for answering my request! I thought about writing "Remember the last time we were down 3-1 to Tampa?" when it was 3-1, but I didn't want to jinx anything. This felt like shades of last year with all those incredible comebacks. I hoped everyone enjoyed this as much as I did. That's why I love watching this game. It can bring out those incredulous emotions when something amazing happens like this comeback. When the chips were down they responded to the mess they made. Let's go Blackhawks. Patty Kane knows what's at stake deep down in his heart. Thumbs up to all of us who kept watching.
Saudi Arabia Rob Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Am I only one who thought the Sabres didn't play that poorly in the first period? The first goal was bad, but the second one was a deflection he had no chance on and the others we had some serious D breakdowns. Not to excuse them all, but Miller's been doing his part.
matter2003 Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 So, who wants to count with me? We've got two in the 30 goal club - Vanek and Roy after tonight. Wanna talk about just how much Pominville is gonna cost to sign now that he is turning into a point per game player?? Imagine what it will cost next year if he continues his improvement??
wjag Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 My six year old son watches most Sabres games with me. He roots for the other team every night. Tonight he said, wow your guys are pretty good. Buffalo now leads the NHL in goals scored.. WHAT???? How'd that happen... Man leading the league in goals for and struggling to make the playoffs..
PromoTheRobot Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Great game, but we still have two games each vs Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, and Boston...the last three on the road. We have to win 6 out the last 8. And you know the Habs and Sens won't go to pieces like the Lightning did. We need 60 minutes of effort every night. PTR
millbank Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Oh , I will likely just go walk around the barn on Friday night. Tonight is why sport can be great. Thread was fun folks staying with the game and being rewarded. :) Great call ... but we're still not letting your boys off on Friday! ;)
