Campy Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 As has been posted above, Sekera's rook mistakes can be maddening, but given the rate at which he's improving he must has an awful lot of potential. I see one person voted that he will never be there. I'm not trying to goad that person into an argument, but I would like to know what that person sees that (it would seem ) the rest of us have missed.
X. Benedict Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 Speaking of which, for a Pittsburgh guy, he sure picked up the Canadian accent quick enough... They all pick up a hockey accent. It is kind of like being in the military, they all end up with a similar cadence to their voice.
stenbaro Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 He keeps playing better the longer he's up here and looks like he has a lot of potential, but he's not "there" yet. Definitely better than I feared and as good as you could expect from an AHL call-up. He still makes some rookie mistakes and shouldn't/can't do anything too fancy yet, but I do expect to see him in the line-up full time next year. On a related note, Weber has a lot of potential, too. He's a little bit younger and not as far progressed, but he's also a different type of defender. He's bigger, more physical and more stay-at-home. The two of them offer some potential for future balanced D. Though, we still need to pick up some veteran D for the next season or two. I like Weber better than Sekera as an overall Defenseman..He is the only Defenseman who actually hits anything..And he makes solid decisions with the puck in his zone..He should be here for a longtime..I think Sekera has potential as a puckmover but he gives the puck away too much in our zone right now..He is here due to injury and the fact the others are terrible in front of him..There are anumber of free agent dman out there this coming offseason who would be an upgrade over him and many others in our d corp..
wonderbread Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 So far so good with Sekera. He will have his moments bith good and bad. Any NHL experience he gets is good. I hope his recent play is a indicative of things to come. As ink pointed out Campbell used to be horrible when he started. He was scratched for Kalinin!
deluca67 Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 Yep - don't mess with success, especially for Kalinin's return. On a side note, I've been debating which Oz character to use as Kalinin's nickname. I've seen Timmy referred to as the Tin Man, but are Kalinin's problems primarily from lack of heart, brain or courage? Red Shoes!
2ForTripping Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 Red Shoes! Yeah and if he clicks his heels toether maybe he'll go home!!!!
