ExiledInIllinois Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 Max, who else. I thought so!... I saw "61" earlier on that play... But I figured I would give him the benefit of the doubt (an assumed he made his way to the bench)! :wallbash: :wallbash:

Corp000085 Posted March 15, 2008 Author Report Posted March 15, 2008 I have always been a Roy fan and couldn't have been happier when they signed him long-term. He is turning into a great two-way forward with big roles on all special teams. If they can lock up Pominville with a similar contract, those two could lead this team for a long time. I'd absolutely love it if roy turned out to be a superstar. His age now, compared to briere at roy's current age, and roy is a better offensive threat and a more complete player. Imagine if roy continues to develop and turns out to be our captain, go-to guy, and all around nhl superstar. Hindsight will prove that regier did indeed make the correct choice in dumping briere in order to sign roy. Of course, we all know that this was a grade-a f*ckup, but it could turn out golden for regier and the sabres.

Of course, we all know that this was a grade-a f*ckup, but it could turn out golden for regier and the sabres. But Briere's current production at his current pricetag isn't exactly something to write home about. You can say Briere fit the Buffalo system a lot better than the Cryers system, but the fact is his contract is simply ginormous. He'd have to hit the 90+ mark every year to ever be worth than kind of cash. So while losing DB and CD sucks, it's not really what's been the issue with this team all year - Not signing one or two strong stay-at-home D-men or a gritty veteran forward in the off-season is what's killing us. Anyway, I degress and I'm beating that horse we all know and love, bottom line is you're right.

Many of said that we would take Roy over Briere for the same time/money going forward before the end of last season. Derek has always been a far more complete player than Danny and, while Danny's offensive numbers were better in the same season, Derek's production was ahead of Danny's at similar points in their respective careers. Sure, there was a little more gamble to Roy, since he hadn't peaked yet, but that also meant he had potential to exceed Briere as he progressed. However, it was never really a question of one or the other, as they could have signed both. As Kristian said, though, the real mistake wasn't who they dropped, it was who they didn't bring in. That is what made this season a bit of a mess (not an unrecoverable one, but definitely mess).
InRodWeTrust Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 A high quality asswhoopin' last night boys.
Team Strike Force Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 I saw him folding 100 dollar bills into little hats for his teammates. That was funny...
Goodfella25 Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 Not sure if it was shown on TV, but at the top of the 300-level in one of the corners there was a giant sign which read "Please don't quit on us". Imagine being a player and seeing that. It would really get me fired up...for some reason it made me think of the playoffs last season and the amazing feeling that came over this city. It gave me chills.
